Glad to see someone finally uploaded a review. I really wanted to see what this figured looked like. I just reopened my order for this. After watching this video.
I agree 100% about these figures, I got the strait jacket version and I love it, When those first bad pics surfaced and everyone lost their minds like you say...I am always trying to tell them it is just the lighting Etc. Then I posted some pics of my strait jacket version and a few people said they were the best pics so far and some others were saying they were pissed that they passed, Well some of us did try to tell you so! I also agree about the prototype, That it looks older and the final sculpt looks better because he was young when he played Hannibal. We talk in the groups - I love your lighting ;)
Wow! That smiling Lector on the Dolly looks amazing. I liked the other version from the proto pics because I thought the smiling version was too crazy looking but the finished product looks better.

I agree. I think Blitzway's Ghostbusters is a perfect example. All of the nice accessories and features you get with those guys are really nice. I don't understand why some collectors say "I am only collecting Hot Toys from now on." I really want to support other companies who do great 1/6 scale work. We really don't want a monopoly on the figures creation then we will get less of what we want in our cabinets and higher prices.
Hot toys and blizway are targeting toward different type of audiences. Hot toys are prone to sci-fi and superhero genres. Blizway are prone to classic movies like rocky, Scarface, basic instinct and etc.. enterbay now focus on sport figures.. when they used to make superhero figures in the past....
Another Great Review. I was on the fence with this release. I had my eye on the "T,rolley" version ( Never a interest for the "White" shirt) version. Im not educated to the screen version of the mask but the BW version looks extremely toyish. Thankfully the grated version would be the go to as I would not want to hide the head sculpt. In the end its a tuff one naturally its screen accurate but feels very static especially with the $300 price tag which is $410 CAN. Too rich for my blood. Thank you for illustrating what looks like another great BW product
I just received the seated version and with quite a bit of adjusting him to sit properly and look really decent I love this figure...I am also getting the straight jacket version as well but I must say that the mask is disappointing. I am sure there is a more accurate mask somewhere out there that would fit this figure?
The sculpt and expression seems more appropriate for the boiler suit look, when Starling first meets Lecter, overall it looks vey good. I think a lot of the hate comes from the dramatic difference we see from proto to final production with Blitz, Ghostbuster figs were the same. All companies are guilty of this including HT but Blitz seem the worse imo.

......i almost never complain about a figure. and if i do, its for something minor. with this set my only gripe is I wish he would have come with a blue jumpsuit option. But some version of that will probably be available from onesixthkit in a couple of months anyway. LOL

i remember that tyler durdan controversy. im so glad i got that figure. its pretty spot on in my opinion. i never ever go by in hand cell phone pics. and anyone who does is a jackass. as far as this figure....its a grand slam for me. most of the time I focus on the head sculpts, but hell....... for this Hannibal Lecter figure, I'm getting it based on the sculpt and paint work on the arms alone. LOL

Yep, Anthony Hopkins was 53/54 when the film was made. Certainly not someone at least in their mid-60's like the prototype showed. First time hearing all that information in regards to why they make the wrinkles more pronounced with the prototype. Definitely makes complete sense.
I'm on the Sideshow Freaks forum, and they don't go by Collector Freaks. It's still the same ol' name. But I do know what you're referring to (I believe) with the issues the site had promoting 3rd party figures.
I think the figures look fantastic for mass-produce, the figure on the dolly trolley is the best sculp, they really nailed the teeth which is hard to do. Just look at hot toys sculps with teeth showing, they look bad! 😁. .
Oh there are definitely homeruns, and there are definite train wrecks as well. I have both when it comes to hot toys, as well as other companies.Lil Gremlin
The chair is awesome. The fact that the feet can't touch the floor is ridiculous though. He definitely looks tanned. Should be pale. Nice sculpt for sure, but definitely could be better. Especially on the arm chair version.
That’s a good thing though, because imo the proto looked nothing like how he did in film. He didn’t look like he just fought in Vietnam. Lol. The production piece is supposed to soften, so the details still come through, however to a degree that it doesn’t make him look like he is in his 60s. Same with what they did with the Tyler Durden. The proto looked much older, as the features and characteristics were more intense, so that when it goes through production, it softens enough that he then looks the age he is supposed to, and the details are still able to come through. Some sculpts soften too much and you lose even more, but I don’t feel that’s the care here. All just my opinion though. Hatch
From Prototype to production, sculpt almost always softens somewhat. Some worse than others. That’s how it works for how 1/6 head sculpts are made. There’s a Master sculpt which is used as as the main cast. It’s basic 1/6 academics 101. Lol. Sometimes artists tool features harder, so they stand out to whatever accuracy they are looking for once the features soften in production. No offense, but are you new to the 1/6 hobby? Matt Royds
@@IAmToys They soften yes, but they are "supposed to" like you said. Thats why head sculpts arent always in less detail than the promo. It doesnt always happen.
Like I mentioned in the previous comment, there are reasons why they are supposed to soften, again based on what the artist wants. It can be used for a purpose, like tooling features. You can confirm this with just about any 1/6 sculpter/company that mass produces a figure. I have Customs that I’ve spent thousands of dollars on, as well as commissioned head sculpts. Those are all hand sculpted and painted, and in small runs. Those are about the only time the artist can get a sculpt right where he wants it for production because it’s not being used as the master sculpt for mass production, it’s made to to literal order. Just got both of mine in today. Overall I'm pretty pleased. Definitely disappointing that his feet don't touch the ground while sitting, but I got him looking pretty good I think. Got a custom mask on the way that's way more accurate, thank goodness. Definitely a sweet set though.
Hey man, I was one of the people to go bonkers when I saw the first cell phone pics. So maybe I’m one of the people you’re talking about, lol I’ve been in the hobby for about 5 years, and have collected quite a few Blitzway, Storm Collectibles, and enterbay figures. Though I’m still a newbie, to some of the older collectors, I feel like I’ve learned quite a bit from my collecting One of my all time favs is Blitzway’s Carlitos’s Way Of which I’ve owned 2; a mass produced, and an artist proof painted by Arnie Kim, to which I consider a grail I have preordered both figures from BBTS and felt that way because of the Tyler Durden situation which was also the 2 pack that I had ordered I know the proto looks older, but what really got to me was the irises being too big and the paint app looking orangey I went right to Blitzway’s page to let them know. Yes, they’re massed produced, but we as collectors should hold these companies accountable if we think that there are quality issues with their products I know you feel that $270 a figure isn’t that much, but it isn’t pennies either. And although I knew the final product wouldn’t look like the protos, I feel like the final paint app is still off Especially the eyes. One guy had his touched up by the original artist that painted the proto, and the result is amazing. All she did was repaint the eyes and hairline But then that’s another $350+ to get them repainted, which we shouldn’t have to pay The sculpt is phenomenal, but to me the paint app is orangey ant the eyes are off- TO ME. Just my opinion Otherwise, great review as always, and yes, I’m still getting them Liked👍🏻
Why can't you have split screen or something for comparison shots instead of a transition for each ? I think on the straitjacket version the proto just looks better period. The figure looks great overall but the production doesn't match the prototype and the mask change is not good.
Nice review, but it's such a shame compared to the prototypes. I mean, I like Blitzway figures (I have a Tyler Durden), but why are their figures always darker than the actual person? It is a good figure, but I like the prototypes the most.
