    I've gotten lots of emails after my first video showing how to use the resizing tool for slot and tabs in Lightburn. Many of you have files that simply won't work with the tool. In this video I will show you how to resize tabs in Lightburn. I lot of the box generators can cause potential issues when trying to use the tool. Things you can learn to eliminate on all future designs. But when you have a design that you don't want to completely recreate, these are two ways you can edit your existing files with just a couple of modifications.

    Good video Steve, very informative. It probably won't be long before Lightburn addresses this issue.

    Steve, this is not on this project video, but I just noticed a perfect, ventilation source for you,, the round metal cap in the fireplace hole, if you got a spare you could cut the hole for a vent hose and place it in the metal cap, those are pretty standard pieces in hardware stores,, so cool just vent up the chimely

      That would've been ideal. But the chimneys were removed decades ago. This old house had a fireplace in every room except the kitchen.

    Great info, however your two methods change the box size differently. First method leaves the inside as drawn, and second method shrinks the inside. However I do like your methodology. I did learn why I couldn't edit my corners. Order matters..lol
    Thanks for the great video!

    I think it would be easier to create another box in the box generator ! Im just saying.

      If it's just a simple box, you are correct. But these techniques weren't about how to save you box files only. Many people are buying files of Etsy and other cut file sources and the require reworking or resizing. There are times this knowledge will be extremally useful.

      I took this off a medical laser I have. You can make something like it yourself from a heavy-duty clothes hanger. Straight the wire. Put two or three coils on one end. Bend and shape the remaining wire in a way it stays clear of the gantry and wrap it around a leg on the laser or secure it to your work table. The air line doesn't way anything. A good heavy-duty hanger will do the trick.

    Thanks for your great instructional videos, I've learnt a lot but I still cannot change the slot size for a round base for a lampshade. I have increased the overall lampshade dimension by 25% now I need to get the slot size back to 4mm. It is a circle with no open paths, the Path option is grayed out, it does not recognise any of the slots and I get no warning messages, I press enter and nothing happens. Changing slot size for other parts of the lampshade works perfectly. Would you have a suggestion for this problem. Thank you.

      Yuo. I do. I'll bet if you watch this video, you'll probably be able to identify and fix the problem. If not. Send me the file. I'll be happy to look at it. th-cam.com/video/-B2FHBRJmu8/w-d-xo.html

      Thanks Steve, you are spot on, when zooming in I found slots that have corners cut ar 45 degrees instead of 90 degrees. Not sure how to fix it yet but at least I now know why the resizing tool doesn't work. Yhanks again for you help.

    This question is for anyone and everyone, I some how broke the lens for the cross on my xTool D1 Pro 10W. Is it possible to replace it and if so where can I get a new one?

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cross? Are you referring to the red LED cross-hair? I always use the laser for framing. I never used the cross-hair for anything. I recommend enabling the laser to fire when framing and not worry about the cross-hairs. Go to your device settings, (wrench & screwdriver), select the enable laser fire button AND fire when framing. Once you do this you will need to exit out of Lightburn and open it back up. Some say this isn't necessary, but I just installed a new laser and had to exit Lightburn in order for it to be active. Once you have opened it back up go to open your "Move" window. Set the power in the lower right corner to 1%. This will cause the laser to fire when framing, but at 1% it will not do anything to the engraving surface. Hope this helps.

    The overall width is now less at the bottom of the tabs.

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't fully understand your comment. But if you are referring to the fact the overall dimensions are going to be slightly different the the original size, you are correct. But I haven't found another way to do it. If you use the first technique I demonstrated be removing all the radii, I believe the dimensions would remain the same. But I haven't found a quick way to remove all the radii. HOWEVER. I do believe once you converted the file this way. you should be able to set the dimensions of the design and then do a simple resizing of the tabs to the material being used. There is so much to consider and discuss on these tips and tools. My videos get entirely too long. Hardly anyone watches them in their entirety. I try to share some in depth foundations and inspire others to build from there. But you are correct. Initially this changes the overall size. But I don't see any other way of doing it without simply starting over. This is for the files you may already have or files you purchase and need to be correct or fixed. Learning these techniques will come in handy in all kinds of instances. I always say, there is more than one way to achieve an outcome in LightBurn. These are just a couple when resizing tabs.
