Girl your voice cracking is bringing me to tears... this is so heartbreaking
this one really got me.
I’ve heard this story countless time. However, listening to you retell it and adding the bit at the end of all the victims, that made me choke up and shed some tears.

Crazy how many people he told but hardly anyone believed him it's like he was trying to ask for help. Time and time again this happens yet nothing else has helped create more mental health help for everyone
Yes! The mental health system seriously failed him. Same for the school police. He sounded desperate for help yet only one person took him seriously then nothing came of it anyway. The people who ignored it should be prosecuted in some way. This won’t change until then. I spent nearly a year with unbelievably horrible insomnia yet I was actively trying to find a psychiatrist to help. Even admitted myself twice to a hospital where I did get help but only temporarily. Finally I found one who takes my insurance. It’s not right.
I wholeheartedly agree with both of you. This could almost certainly have been prevented had the people who were supposed to help, actually helped. Imagine knowing you were likely to do something massively horrendous and actively trying to stop yourself by asking for help but nobody does anything. I bet he wishes every day that they'd stopped him. I bet the victim's families also wish the people who should have helped had helped too! They're just as responsible for this as he is tbh.

I'm 26 weeks pregnant and as soon as you said "this baby is taking all my oxygen" omg I so understand 10000%what you are talking about and for me it came on fast like within days I was felling good felt good and try to take walks everyday and it is not getting any easier for any of that my breathing is harder even just sitting can be hard my walks are slower cuz I cant breath, can't get out of bed and i have to catch my breath befor I fully get up and its just crazy how hard everything in my body is harder now and just within weeks/some even days cuz thr baby growing so fast also love you and just love everything about this channel but I do have a suggestion maybe try to find more over sea or even just cases that maybe no one or even older ones I just like channels that don't do all the resent or popular cases and im not saying you do but deff would like to see more cases like that have a good day and hope you and baby are doing g well
Haha I understand exactly where you’re coming from girl. My kids had it out for me and rested their big ole baby buns right up in my lungs- I always felt like I was gna go down for the count cuz I never could get a good breath in, ever! I used to reach my arms above my head, to the sky as high as I could get them thru out the day to make some space & elongate my lungs. that was the ONLY way I could get oxygen to my brain lol...so maybe you could try that? My kiddos are between 17-24 now & my breathing woes are a memory, but yes it feels like they’re little body air/lung stealing punks! Best of luck to you 💜

I swear it gets worse as they get bigger and take up more space. Pushing against the ribs etc. Lol it's hard but fun! Enjoy ur pregnancy. I hope you have a wonderful labor and delivery! Stay safe.

I don’t remember the last time I actually cried and had tears running down my face from a case. Of course every case makes me sad but hearing about the 2 teen daughters and their father really hit me I’m a teen and I love my dad and Ik he would do anything for me , Followed by the little girl who lost her life really has me sobbing on the floor in the middle of my kitchen

God I was ugly crying... most died protecting someone they love. Just shows these people are good people died to save their loved ones. They are heroes!

I remember watching this on the news and let me just say when your voice broke talking about the victims especially the 6 year old and the mother who had a miscarriage broke me because I have a 6 year old and a 4 year old and my God is just heartbreaking. Thank you for covering this case. At least he's put away and won't ever get out I just wish the system would treat all other criminals like this. I love your makeup!!!

Rewatching...I remember that when this happened, my biological sister texted my parents saying she was safe and then I hadn't heard anything about this before that

One of my friends was friends with John Larimer. He was from Illinois and she says he was just the absolute funniest guy. The suffering is so far reaching for each of these victims' friends and family. So many lives were changed forever.

Respectfully mental health is at the forefront of almost every mass shooting and in my opinion that should be our focus to help prevent more mass shootings from occurring. Great video Bratterstein and just so sad because so many times he told what he was thinking and no one even tried to intervene.
I absolutely agree when you say at the end of the video that you wish we lived in a world where these types of things didn’t happen and people were more sympathetic, empathetic, and kind. I don’t understand why this happened and why so many more of these types of attacks have happened. It’s so senseless and heartbreaking. I feel for the families that lost loved ones and I can’t imagine the grief and trauma that this individual brought on so many. My hope is that more people can have love in their hearts instead of hate.

I can relate! I could also relate to that toilet paper commercial where the very pregnant mom is up like 100 times a night going pee and she says "you gotta be killing me little dude." LOL! I had my fifth and final baby 2 years ago and by that point my bladder wasn't trying to hold anything! When I had to go, I had to go NOW! So worth it though! 😊
@@jillybean7011 yes!! My last baby is 8 now and I'm 46. And my bladder is quite lax! I use the liners made for women's issues AND light bladder issues every day, just to be secure. ❤️

parents of alienated children experience the same devastation as people who lose loved ones in the way the families of these victims did. it's horrifying, horrendous, heartbreaking and soul-crushing.
This story is horrific but I was so moved getting to hear a small amount about each of the victims. I really appreciate the time you took to research all of that information. I can’t lie, I ugly cried.

Ohhhh I’m early. Hello from Scotland. Have omicron and all I am able to do at the moment is watch TH-cam in between naps. Thanks so much for telling me about the victims. Too often we fixate on the perpetrators but actually it’s the stories of victims that matters.
Gun controls. I’m from and now live in Scotland but did my masters in the states and I have to say being chased by someone with a gun while doing my masters was absolutely the most terrifying moment of my life. But I respect everyone’s beliefs.

I feel like crowds are so real a dangerous situation so i try not too be in crowds. I am out of school and retired. I remember Mr Bale feeling really bad that this happened during his movie. It was not his fault but the love from him and the studio was well received. RIP TO ALL THE PEOPLE AND HOPE INJURED RECOVERED. I will never forget hearing about it. That guy never made sense to me at all. He did want the spotlight that is for sure.

Oh B!!! I’m a dreamer too! I was already in tears but the John Lennon quote threw it over the edge. Mental health, gun control all of it is a mess. We shouldn’t have to be afraid to go to a movie but unfortunately that’s where we are. I think compassion and empathy would lead to an understanding. And understanding will bring clarity and a resolution. I will remain hopeful but I’ll still be hyper-aware of my surroundings. Love and light 💚💚💚

It’s awful to think about how many opportunities there were for this to be prevented. He had reached out for help so many times. So many people could have done something.

My god. The end had me in tears. You are so sweet for sharing their stories and personalities. Cases like this make me so mad that mental health isn’t taken as seriously as it should be. When I was in high school, I went through a horrible time and was suicidal at one point. I was taken to the mental health wing of the hospital, and they turned me away because they only had 4 beds in the whole wing. And when I was able to get in the next time, it was an absolute joke and I didn’t get the help I needed. I’m so lucky to be someone who had a big support group, but people like this guy, who’s red flags were constantly ignored, didn’t have anyone to stop him, report his thought expressions or behavior and it’s crazy to me how many people ignored it. Not that I’m feeling bad for him in the least, but this absolutely could have been prevented.

Case suggestions: Elizabeth Smart, Jaycee Lee Dugard, Steven Stayner, and Genie Wiley. All (except Genie) are stories of kidnapped children who were eventually reunited with their families. Genie’s case is something I studied in college while learning about “feral” children. Super fascinating, but also traumatizing. …enjoy? 😅😅
This case is why I don't go anymore. It terrified me. Rip to all victims and may those who lived and are struggling with ptsd.. I pray you heal

This was so sad , I remember it happening and being scared ever since of going to the movie theater, I only go if it's less people and in the day time, just so sad
I live in Australia and we have some of the strictest gun laws in the whole world and as a result, we have a very low gun crime rate here thankfully. That said though, there is still gun violence just waaaaay less. I really prefer to live this way than what seems to happen in America!!

I moved here to Denver, CO from Arkansas in 2019. My partner and I moved down here to Aurora about a year ago and one day we were just driving around and he points and says "that's the theater where the shooting happened". And I almost crashed the car. I don't know what it was about driving past such a mundane place with a huge shadow of a massacre over it but it made my skin crawl. I have barely just started this video but I'm probably gonna be nauseous when it's over.

After the traumatizing events that I’ve been through in the past year (almost losing my brother to a self-inflicted gunshot wound & a scare at my 8 year old daughters school) I hate guns and alcohol. Nothing good can or will ever come from either one, I cannot be convinced otherwise. For every one person who can handle such responsibly, I feel like there are 10 times more who shouldn’t have access. And from my understanding, the U.S. is the only country that has mass shootings the way we do.
I remember when this happened. The horror of it all was just so intense. The parents and families and friends who lost people they love is unfathomable to me how they dealt with this. I pray for those who died and those family and friends left behind. The world we live in can be a horrible place. On another note hope you are doing well as well as the little one.

Crazy that one of the victims survived a shooting a month before. If you go on her Twitter account, she said there was someone in a Batman costume joking about that mall shooting at the time, and she thought it was so tasteless. My cousin and his friends were supposed to go to that theater that night to see that movie but they decided to go to a different theater at the last minute because it was a little closer to where they were at the time.

I feel like everyone who heard him say those things and did nothing should be charged, especially the school officials who already knew he was mentally unstable and made it worse without even bothering to call the police or a hospital about having him committed for 72 hrs. His therapist should lose her license aswell. There were so many signs and yet again every single 1 was ignored. Mental health is real and people want to ignore it until some shit happens and then try to claim people were never crazy before and "omg how did this happen" when literally they're telling everyone what they're going to do and acting absolutely nuts.
