This is a very sad case! I understand some mental health issues, as I go through some myself. Vince admitted to being guilty as soon as he got off the bus. He knew what he did was wrong. Yes, he did have a mental health issue. I won't question that at all. But, he should have been held accountable because he knew he was guilty. On the other side, if they just wanted to get him mental help instead of prison, then they should have kept him there. There is no way for anyone to be positive that he will take his medication. You are correct in saying that some people think that they are better so they stop their meds. I truly believe that Tim was robbed of justice that he deserved. I can't even express how badly I feel for Tim's family.
I’m glad Vince got the help he needed but letting him out w absolutely no supervision…. That scares me A LOT. I worry what could happen if in another 3-5yrs Vince decides “he’s cured” bc he’s been doing so well for so long. I know not everyone w mental illnesses is violent or stops taking meds. But I’m also not naïve either & people stop taking their medications bc they feel like they’re cured. I wish he stayed in longer and then IF he was released it should’ve been to a half way house where there are professionals to keep him on right track. Hopefully he keeps taking his meds and stays outta trouble. I can’t imagine his mental illness is an easy thing to deal w. I’m sure he was scared too that day. But what he did was horrific and 10yrs…. That’s not nearly long enough
I cannot believe that he was released! I 1000% agree with the mom. The fact that there would be a possibility at any given time for him to stop taking his medication and be capable of The things he did is extremely alarming.
This case f’d me up for months. I’m from Canada and I can remember the exact day and moments hearing the horrifying details of what happened. The justice system in Canada is a disgrace to say the least.
I felt the same way, I live in Canada as well and when I heard this case, first I thought it was a sick joke and I thought my coworkers were playing a sick joke. Then when I found out it was true I was literally numb and in a haze for the rest of the day.... no other case has ever affected me this way, maybe because it was so close to home.... then when I found out the guy basically got off I never felt safe on any kind of bus again.... thank you @bratterstein for your take on this case.... much love!
You guys need to demand a better police force and justice system. Is absolutely ridiculous how cases are treated there. Point in case; Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka
Also Canadian and I agree. It’s brutal. In Ontario if a youth is charged with second degree murder they can only be sentenced to max. 7 years first degree for a youth is max 10 Years. There was a 14 year old in my city Hamilton, Devon was stabbed to death by another 14 year old. He got 7 years..and he gets out aTyer 4 years. 3 years probation 😭💔
What you said at the end… it’s not just that he murdered a sleeping man on a bus, it’s the way he brutalized that poor man’s body, that who was a living, breathing man just moments ago. It gives me chills. And the randomness of it all.
The young man did pull at my heart strings with just the computer but then to want to make sure his money wasn't spent for the crime. What a great young man!
I feel like when they discharged him he should have at least been at like a halfway house for awhile where they could monitor his integration back into society, his meds, therapy etc. Crazy he’s just out roaming free under a new name!
I have no idea how it works in Canada, but in the United States if you’re not actively homicidal or suicidal, they can’t force you to get held halfway houses are usually for people of committed a crime not people you think might commit a crime- its hard because you don’t want to take away peoples freedoms at the same time you can’t have crazy people running around stabbing people

In Manitoba (same province this happened in) there are people being treated for tuberculosis who have to do Directly Observed Therapy, where a nurse has to witness them take their TB meds everyday and check it off on a chart. I think the same thing should be in place for Vince. Sure, it's a pain for someone to have to attend a clinic everyday but after what he did while not on meds I don't think it's an unreasonable expectation. Or regular blood tests to ensure he's taking his meds. Something to protect the public if they don't want to keep him locked up. The fact that he's out there amongst us is terrifying to me. RIP Tim.
Thats actually a good idea. Like a methadone clinic (although Canadians don’t have them, instead people get methadone from a pharmacy, where they take their medication under observation-so same basic idea, except US clinics usually provide treatment

As a counselor, I was taught that it wasn’t the mental health issue that would make the person murder. And I believe this. No matter the diagnosis, a person should not murder if he or she does not have the desire to do so in another area of the mind.

I've missed so many recent uploads, so I have to go back and binge! But I started with this most recent upload. I definitely learned new things about this case from you! It is heartbreaking and terrifying. I personally feel like in this set of circumstances, Vincent should be monitored more closely and shouldn't have been released with zero restrictions. You look fantastic, as always 💕
Hi 😊 Brittany so happy to see you today I received my second kinder box. I’m enjoying so much. Thank you 😊 your videos are so unique. Something new to watch.
I for one know exactly what it feels like to think your medication has worked enough that you can cone off it having bp disorder I used to think yes I'm well again I can stop the meds but after 6 yrs in councilling and understanding my triggers and myself a little more ,well maybe a lot more that I can NOT come off my meds it's them that keep me on a reasonable level if I stop I hate myself all over again and have to start from the beginning ( I was never out to hurt others it was always myself but by doing that I was hurting others of you know what I mean ) so now I know as much as it p,sses me off having to be medicated I know it's fr the best for everyone , this case is so scary but thank you for doing it the way you do x
Ahhh so early and on a day my daughter has a delay 🥰 perfect timing to watch this right before I get her set for school ! So glad especially cause I had just wanted something new after binging my watchlist all night lol Happy birthday Miranda 🎉 thanks for the interesting case !
In the state of Australia that I live in, we have something called a 'CTO' (Community treatment order). Say the CTO deems that you have a monthly antipsychotic depot, if you dont comply, you go to the locked ward.
Oh Goodness this is a HEAVY one. Personally I believe Vince should never be unsupervised. It seems the lack of medical care is what was the main issue, and if he decides today to stop taking his meds today the withdrawals could send him into another psychotic episode. Who is there to ensure Vince's AND society's safety? Vince has already shown he can be so incredibly violent in a break, how can anyone be sure he is complying with medical care to prevent another murder? This one breaks my heart, as so many do. It just shows you never know who is next to you and although 99% of the time it's safe we can NEVER let our guard down...and how sad is that?
Hey girl i love your content and enjoy your videos thank you so much also im so happy for you and your husband on the baby coming congrats sweetie♥️. This case is terrible i live in Canada and remember this happening. I totally agree with Tim's mother and wish they would have kept him closely monitored this is such a sad story my heart goes out to Tims family and friends. Thanks again
Hey Brittany, Miss Duck here. I'm watching you later than usual today coz I've had a looooong day. Now I'm starving and gonna watch this with a coffee and a lush sandwich from Greggs. I don't know if you have them in America but I went on one of those massage chairs they have in shopping centres (malls) and omg it was amazing. £1 for 5 minutes! If you have them you HAVE to try one. I'll be gutted if they ever take them away, I'll be having one daily from now on
@@BRATTERSTEIN I didn't realise tht I had put that up 😂🙈 now I don't even remember wat I was going to say aswell ! Complete mistake sorry lol hope you're well
They did put them on another bus and some of them did not want to get on a greyhound bus which is totally understandable and yes an RCMP detachment is a police station
1. Thank you for mentioning Pigeon. Will you be reading those books to your child? I hope so. 2. Were you fishing the other day when you asked for male victims to see who guessed today's episode correctly? What do I win?. Haha. Jk. 3. I first heard about this case in 2014, I believe? I temember being haunted by it. I've never heard of something so clearly out of a slasher flick before. Not even in a slasher flick. You can't make this up. And he was born the same year as my younger brother. So when I was reading about his older sister, it was especially hard. I remember finding Myspace posts of his online and it just breaking my heart to see them. Posts he'd written. And the way his family learned about the tragedy first before knowing it was him? How awful. I heard he had a baby born a few months later. So sad for that kid. But I read his family was of course grateful for the baby. 4. Weapons of any kind should not be on buses. Can't they be stored under the bus if it is an essential item? 5. He should be in a hospital for life, where he can be sure he is of no threat to society. It would be easy to forget to take his meds, wouldn't it? Give him compassionate care, but keep him away from potential triggers to his madness. Poor Tim. Poor family and friends. I'm so glad he wasn't on the bus with friends. I read a friend almost went but was forbidden by her father. I think? Ominous. Can you just imagine if she had witnessed that? I feel so bad for the witnesses who didn't know him personally as it is.
this one breaks my heart so much. everything about it makes me feel things. Like, I want to rage over mental health and policies and I just want Tim to be alive and unharmed. I so, SO agree that it's terrifying that he can stop his meds any time and just do this again. and I have a suggestion for you that is completely not covered in true crime, though the information is out there: Gary Schuning from Addison, IL.
Cheesus Crust. I'm stealing that! This case is so horrible, I can't imagine the trauma all these people deal with. I don't think Vince was properly punished, he might have had a psychotic break but he still done a horrid crime. I agree with Tim's moms quote. RIP Tim 💖
Hi Britney...Hi bratpack..."one of us"... Happy Belated Birthday Sister bratgirl..Britney, I love your Compassion for every case you cover for all of the victims...
I don’t understand how he can be off all supervision after only 10 years regardless of how well he did! I understand why he was released to an extentbut don’t understand no parole
Im new here! Found you from sherilyns podcast! Im so happy I found you. Is your husband a tattoo artist? When is the baby due? This case has always horrified me. This is honestly one of the worst cases I’ve ever heard. And you told the very PG version of this case. Its awful. I cant believe this man is out.
I have so many mixed feelings about murderers being released back into society. I would say at the very least regular monitoring needs to be done to maintain the safety of the public.
Can you do a video on the murder of 10 year old Stephanie Short from Phoenix, AZ back in 2001 please? She was my friend and I've never seen the case discussed anywhere. I can get you the info or at least guide you to where to find it since it's been kinda buried nowadays.

My brother has schizophrenia & got sectioned last week, He has a habit of missing his medication, His mental health team have been going to his home to make sure he takes his medication but have just been taking his word for it, & supposed to be assessing him But the person who did a report only ever met him once ‘ He hasn’t a bad bone in his body but he messaged my dad saying he thought everyone was trying to kill him for a chip in his brain & he ended up going to a house with a knife & disappeared before police got to him, Was missing for 10 days , Thankfully nobody was hurt it a horrible illness & I feel heartbroken for this young mans family rip
The question of the day is so hard. I understand that mental illness is an illness, but I do believe that a killer is a killer. It’s crazy because with no other sentiment can we be like “oh this is why they went back to murder” than someone who needs medication going off their meds and reoffending.
No he should have NEVER been released ! What if he stops taking his medication and has another mental breakdown and does this again...are they crazy letting him go? Insane...my heart goes out to the family...
This one is very hard. Vince chose to not be on meds or get any treatment for his mental illness before he randomly murdered someone. So he could easily do so again. And if he decides to stop taking his meds, people will be in danger. Because this attack was brutal as hell. He shouldn't be completely free. He should be supervised, maybe forever. I think these things should be decided on a case by case basis and this attack was just too damn crazy.
What a tragedy. poor Tim and I can't imagine what his family went through. And what trauma they have suffered. as far as Vincent he should not be held criminally responsible but he should spend rest of his life in a mental institution or be supervised after his release. he should be treated well and with compassion but most likely for everyone's sake he should not be released. or at least supervised once out. However I've seen lots of mentally ill people. They are completely normal when they take their medication just little groggy. That said people I have met their mental illness was not as severe ( or nearly as severe) as Vincent's. If you combine stress of loosing his job the difficulties he faced by being in a completely different country with a completely different culture plus not being able to communicate this causes stress. If you add a severe mental illness to all that (the stress will make already very severe mental illness even worse) that is a recipe for disaster. if Vince would get help before hand there is a good chance all of this could be avoided.
Such an awful and sad story. I am bi-polar on meds. One thing that I do is start feeling good and thinking I don't need medicine. So I stop taking them and I'm back in my turmoil soon. My doctor says that's common with mental illness. Maybe Vince should've been monitored some how to be sure his is still taking his meds. Maybe thru drug tests. Praying God blesses Tim's family with peace.
Hey Bratterstein, can you do a cult case of Aum Shinrikyo? The group was basically a doomsday cult in Japan led by Shoko Asahara who believed he was the son of a Buddist God or God. This case is so infamous in Japan, that the government of Japan made a law that made it illegal to have trash cans because Asahara told his followers to plant poison bombs in trash cans in railway stations. It's a classic dangerous cult case but it's a story that needs extra research on.
Both Tim and Vincent are victims in this situation. Our mental health system is disgusting, and from the other videos and articles I've seen Vincent had been taken his medication but unfortunately stopped shortly before the attack on Tim. Schizophrenia can be a very difficult thing to treat and it's common that people will be taking their medication then get to a point where they don't think they need it anymore which unfortunately leads to their mental health spiraling and its not something that can be cured; most mental disorders are not curable and are barely treatable since we dont have available help. The delusions and hallucinations that come along with some disorders are very strong and terrifying. Also, we've got an amazing bunch of talented tattoo artists in Canada; I've worked for a handful of the best artists in Ottawa, Ontario.
I love how you're so heavily pregnant but still entertaining us. An I loved the episode with sherilyn ❤ also if people dont like you they have bad taste. Just saying lol
I'm with Tims' parents. He is a horrific murder. Vince, himself, told the police that he murdered him, to kill him. Vince knew he had mental illness and made a choice not to take his medicine and continue his care. I do have family members that have major mental issues. I have seen first hand how once they take their medicine and then think that they no longer need it because they feel better. And the cycle continues but they do get the help they need. Now they do realize that they need the medicine to stay "mentally stable".
@@BRATTERSTEIN In most U.S. cities you are technically a 2d class citizen if your take the metro. The real police don't even show up if there is a fight or some attack; the "METRO police" come whenever they get there with a clipboard and take YOUR information; they will then forward it to the police IF they deem it necessary. Uh yeah... Don't ride the bus unless you absolutely HAVE to and there's no other way to get somewhere.
Happy Birthday to her!

You look fantastic, as always 💕
that's the best tho, right?! to have so much to catch up on. UGH i love it lol
Happy birthday Miranda!!!!
thank you!
Hi 😊 Brittany so happy to see you today I received my second kinder box. I’m enjoying so much. Thank you 😊 your videos are so unique. Something new to watch.
AWE! I am glad you like it!
lol I listen your videos and other true crime when I show up for work at 6 am. always got my coffee 🤗
hell yeah!
Whohhh.. a floating kitty. Nice video.
he is always floating around back there lol
So glad especially cause I had just wanted something new after binging my watchlist all night lol
Happy birthday Miranda 🎉 thanks for the interesting case !
happy to bring it to you!! and thank you!
In the state of Australia that I live in, we have something called a 'CTO' (Community treatment order). Say the CTO deems that you have a monthly antipsychotic depot, if you dont comply, you go to the locked ward.
Girl you know i was waiting for you too. ❤
i am happy to be hereeeeeeee.
Castor Troy! I was right there with you B! Same brain! 💚
i just love that movie so much. after filming this video, i rented it lol
It just shows you never know who is next to you and although 99% of the time it's safe we can NEVER let our guard down...and how sad is that?
it's incredibly sad.
Thanks again
yeah, i agree with monitoring. thank you so much btw!
Thank you Brittany, as always very interesting. I´ve never heard about this horrible story before, but I am from Europe, soooo...Man, RIP Tim
i am glad to bring it to you.
Love your videos! You should look up the Alexander family cult it’s crazy!
So cool to see you chattin' with Sherrilyn on Murder Between Friends! 💛 okie on to the video...
!! it was such a cool experience!
Many people get portraits of their lost ones tatted. They usually looks just like the portrait!
oh yeah, it def depends on the artist tho. i've seen some rough portraits.
Fantastic work Brittany! I don't agree with releasing him with no restrictions...dude needs to be monitored for the rest of his life!
i think he definitely needs to be monitored.
Saw your murder with friends with sherilyn, loved it! I'm now subscribed. Hope everything goes well with your baby 😘
awe! thank you! i am so happy to have you!
not 6am here (Australia) almost midnight, now i gotta try and sleep😬cant believe i havent heard this case!🙏 r.i.p Tim x
oh man, such a time difference!
I'll be gutted if they ever take them away, I'll be having one daily from now on
our malls do have those but i've never used them before!
I agree with Tim’s mother.
It's always such a good case when
whennnnn...
@@BRATTERSTEIN I didn't realise tht I had put that up 😂🙈 now I don't even remember wat I was going to say aswell ! Complete mistake sorry lol hope you're well
YAY!! was just binging some of your old vids and got the notification!! 🧡 you channel x
happy to have you here!
They did put them on another bus and some of them did not want to get on a greyhound bus which is totally understandable and yes an RCMP detachment is a police station
fuhk. yeah. rip riley gale
His mom is 100% correct. They think they dont need their meds and stop taking them.
i think this does happen. I am not sure how often that's the case tho.
this one breaks my heart so much. everything about it makes me feel things.
RIP Tim 💖
It really is so horrible.
Hi Britney...Hi bratpack..."one of us"... Happy Belated Birthday Sister bratgirl..Britney, I love your Compassion for every case you cover for all of the victims...
Ur my friend in my head lol...love true crime...ur presentation is perfect
thank youuuuuuu
I don’t understand how he can be off all supervision after only 10 years regardless of how well he did! I understand why he was released to an extentbut don’t understand no parole
Good Monday morning to you!
good morning to you~
I didn’t know he was out. That’s terrifying 😬
This is an awful case, poor man was just sleeping.
i know :/
ITS MONDAY BABY
YES IT IS

Im new here! Found you from sherilyns podcast! Im so happy I found you. Is your husband a tattoo artist? When is the baby due?
This case has always horrified me. This is honestly one of the worst cases I’ve ever heard. And you told the very PG version of this case. Its awful. I cant believe this man is out.
hi! WELCOME! i am happy to have you. yes, he's a tattoo artist and our baby is due this month OMG
I love you! Thanks, sis. And yes, let's not tell me go f*** myself, haha. 😘
Happy Almost Birthday!
@@BRATTERSTEIN 🥰🥰
I have so many mixed feelings about murderers being released back into society. I would say at the very least regular monitoring needs to be done to maintain the safety of the public.
i definitely get that.
Can you do a video on the murder of 10 year old Stephanie Short from Phoenix, AZ back in 2001 please? She was my friend and I've never seen the case discussed anywhere. I can get you the info or at least guide you to where to find it since it's been kinda buried nowadays.
Pleas cover Christian Andreacchio
This story I've heard a couple times and it truly is like a horror movie....so f-ing sad
I'm worried that he will stop taking his meds....
oh man, it is terrifying.
Absolutely 🥺
This is one of the most shocking, gut wrenching cases I've ever seen in all of the true crime content I have consumed. I can't wait until later, when I can watch this, because I know I'll probably learn something new from Brittany!💔
dude, it really is.
New here!!!! Really enjoy your channel 💙✌️💙
happy to have you here!
I pray all is well with you. I keep expecting to see a post that you had the baby. These last few days are the longest when you are expecting.
it really does feel like forever now but! i am 37 weeks today so, it could be another 3 weeks. i post more regular updates on instagram if you want to see there it's bratterstein.
Took a Greyhound from Florida to California with a friend after high school in 2001. 4 day trip to get there ($69 round trip 😂) Craziest stories of my life, luckily nothing like this.
$69? nice lmao
@@BRATTERSTEIN That price is unheard of today! lol
Seeing u on sherrilyn channel was FUCKING AMAZING... I'm jealous that your face didn't get fat during ur pregnancy, I'm also jealous that u still on that goddamn floor.
it was super cool. and i am def carrying all the weight from the chest down and in my hands. lol. i never made it off the floor. all the videos coming through june are me, pregnant, on the floor lol
My brother has schizophrenia & got sectioned last week,
He has a habit of missing his medication,
His mental health team have been going to his home to make sure he takes his medication but have just been taking his word for it, & supposed to be assessing him
But the person who did a report only ever met him once ‘
He hasn’t a bad bone in his body but he messaged my dad saying he thought everyone was trying to kill him for a chip in his brain
& he ended up going to a house with a knife & disappeared before police got to him,
Was missing for 10 days ,
Thankfully nobody was hurt it a horrible illness & I feel heartbroken for this young mans family rip
The question of the day is so hard. I understand that mental illness is an illness, but I do believe that a killer is a killer. It’s crazy because with no other sentiment can we be like “oh this is why they went back to murder” than someone who needs medication going off their meds and reoffending.
it really is tough.
No he should have NEVER been released ! What if he stops taking his medication and has another mental breakdown and does this again...are they crazy letting him go? Insane...my heart goes out to the family...
i know. i feel bad for his family.
victoria, bc is so close to my small city
This one is very hard. Vince chose to not be on meds or get any treatment for his mental illness before he randomly murdered someone. So he could easily do so again. And if he decides to stop taking his meds, people will be in danger. Because this attack was brutal as hell. He shouldn't be completely free. He should be supervised, maybe forever. I think these things should be decided on a case by case basis and this attack was just too damn crazy.
it really is an outlying situation.
Pastor Castor 🤣
:p
❤ your videos and I want a shirt. Where do I order one?
Just saying lol
i am doing the best i can. this video was filmed a bit ago now but all the ones coming i filmed while pregnant.
Now they do realize that they need the medicine to stay "mentally stable".
it really is horrific.
Sad public transpo can be REALLY dangerous for a lot of reasons.
it's crazy. i've never had anything happen personally but clearly, it does.
@@BRATTERSTEIN It gives psychos opportunity; places you in that vulnerable position out in the open with little protection unless you carry a weapon.
