Death Cleric is gonna be awesome in BG3. Perhaps it's time for another solo run!? (Probably not, but this is gonna be a great subclass for Shadowheart instead of Trickery!) edit: Maybe I should have just called this vid "New necro spells and me rambling for 30 mins"
@@lenam317 No, it definitely breaks the corpse after. I can show ya proof. We can just double tap the same corpse with Death Cleric for some reason. Pretty sure that will get patched out.

Hey Remortis, new here, The trickery domain can be an excellent "control the battlefield" cleric for the rogue, any warlock with devilsight and to protect your backline casters whilst the barbarian gets on with being the tank of the group with a bearheart totem and having high constitution to boot. I personally enjoy this setup as I'm a wizard (necromancers are OP as wizards in act 3) or a warlock that (granted, through a mod) is of the undying domain. I love the fact Larian added the death domain cleric but the conditions that can be applied shouldn't be cast aside as easily as you say. Other than that, great video! I like the fact you covered it!
To be totally fair with Trickery Domain, Larian did a terrible job with Invoke Duplicity. I used a mod that fixes it, and it made my necromancer playthrough way better, with my whole zombie squad getting permanent advantage on attacks. And you can move the duplicate around. That said, I am super excited for Death Domain. Focusing on necrotic damage without stressing about resistances is my dream! EDIT: Yeah, necrotic damage making corpses ineligible for reanimation is one of Larian's sickest jokes...
@remortisgaming Shame we only get it so late. Until then, gotta grab every eligible corpse you find and shove it in the camp chest. Every goblin corpse in Act 1, like it's a sick collection. I used the Animate Dead+ mod to get some much-needed quality of life improvements in my run, but sadly it's third-party. It eliminates the "X damage ruins the corpse" thing, and optionally even lets you summon undead from nothing like you're in a permanent Negative Energy Zone.
Wow that really is fast. I wish I could take more time to make some better guides here but I don't have the time I normally take on my vids and I hope I am able to cover enough of the new info to make it worth everyone else's time. Trying to balance quality and speed since time is of the essence atm!
I definitely plan to make a “Shadow of Shar” build for Shadowheart, using both Death Domain Cleric and Shadow Sorcerer as her main classes sounds like an enjoyable process
@ I am also considering 1 level of Hexblade for this build too since it’s also from the Shadowfell. So Charisma and Wisdom being the main stats shouldnt be an issue, especially since I can happily dump strength. (Lorewise, Shadowheart’s always seemed more like a caster than a mace-chucker anyway XD)
@@remortisgaming I'm pretty sure there are mods that add the dead three and Shar back into the game for any cleric to choose using cut content which is pretty cool. I also just realized how poorly I worded the original comment.
Then swashbuckler, oh man, the flick weapon action from what I saw works like belms bonus action attack... which is nothing insane, until you realise there are dex scaling longswords that work with great weapon master. Swashbuckler as it is in bg3 is probably good for gish builds, it sort of makes EK's war magic redundant (if you are using a versatile weapon).
It's gonna be amazing honestly, I already have some swash builds in mind. Combine with cha classes though since I believe their dirty tricks might be based off of that, but the bonus action vicious mockery definitely is. I'm thinking even lvl 1 dip of Hexblade/6 swords bard/4 or 5 of Swash for an example build. I play a lot of swash bucklers on tabletop so it's gonna be a fun vid.
I just want to see if it rides off of hex when used with bonechill. Death domain cleric-warlock might be early game meta, its 4d7 average because bonechill is a 1d8 and hex is 1d6), which is pretty good.
@ That's all cantrips. Even firebolts/EB/etc etc. If you miss their AC nothing happens there either :) Really it'd be good to cycle between Toll and Chill depending on their wis save and AC!
@@remortisgamingYou can crit with Bonechill tho. And take advantage of highground bonuses and straight advantage. Also the healing stop from it is sometimes good. Fuck Ethel's mashrooms!
@ I wish I was joking but you can have literally 100% chance of hitting something with sacred flame and it will still miss. Someone did a video on it a while ago. TDLR, don't use Troll of the Meh unless you have 6 levels in evocation gizzard. The dice rolls in this game, i shit you not, are bugged.
You don't use Heroes' Feast?!? It makes your whole party immune to poison damage, so you can drop a cloudkill on everyone! And you can camp cast it with a hireling. Also, Harm is currently bugged. I've raised this with Larian so fingers crossed they fix it. When an enemy fails their save it should deal damage and also reduce their max HP by the damage dealt. At the moment, all it does is the max HP reduction. There is no actual damage roll (so damage riders don't proc) and if the enemy's health is below their max HP then that difference reduces the effective damage you deal. Ironically, it works normally if they make their save, doing half damage.
Jesus Christ, I can show you a better clip if you’d like. The math is still there ya dunce. It *is* nuts if they fail their Dex save. I could go even further to make enemies prone to give disadvantage to the save. But the minions weren’t the only thing I blew up there. It was mostly to show you the range of the AoE.
No offense intended. I love necromancy type builds and I only recently found your channel. I just think that the fact it has friendly fire is gonna make it hard to feel good using. Like the zombies that spawn from the debuff are not under your control. If I have to kill two or three of my pets to use this or make it hard for my melee allies who play multiplayer with me it’s gonna be a hassle. I don’t dispute the damage it could do, just after killing a fellow party member who is moving in melee range accidentally a couple times your party is gonna ask you to stop using it.
@ definitely valid and there’s no offense to be had. The spell certainly has its draw backs, but so does fireball and that’s a coveted spell. You can also shove corpses yourself or with someone else before you cast it to hopefully get them in a better position!
@@DarkeenVoid sadly no! Maybe a mod adds them back. There *was* content for them back in EA. Though Laudager the duergar did has the death domain in their profile.
