Your Christmas jumpers are really beautiful and what a nice tradition for your family! You are so right about the Moraine sweater being hot. I knit it several years ago and it’s beautiful and I’m quite proud of it, but our winters in Connecticut have gotten so much milder than when I was a child that I don’t wear it often!
Thank you for this special episode! I’m a grandma of two little ones and have never knit color work. This has inspired me to give it a try. I especially appreciated you mentioning that you had successfully used acrylic. My family has animal allergies and can’t tolerate any animal fibers.
Wonderful! I’m sure you’ll love seeing them in your creations, it’s a great feeling 🥰 Yes, I’ve used acrylic for colourwork numerous times. I wouldn’t say that the effect is any different to using Superwash wool. Neither fuzz up to fill in the spaces between stitches, but I think it looks lovely anyway 👍 Would love to hear how you get on if you do go ahead 💕
Thanks for this episode, Ailie! I’ve had my eye on the Festive Yoke jumper from Skeindeer for a while, and with your recommendation of it,it’s a definite for me now! If not this year, then next. I’m trying not to cast on any big/complicated projects until I clear my backlog of WIPs…. I think I’ve still 2 Stephen West shawls, 2 other shawls, a vest, mitts, and a top to go 😅
Thanks Caroline 🥰 That’s so kind! I try to keep it interesting for myself by choosing different patterns and styles each year; otherwise it would quickly become a chore. Hope you’re well 💕
Thanks dear Ailie- so lovely to see all your festive knits ❤ seeing it’s Summer here in Australia 🇦🇺 at Christmas time knitting Christmas jumpers is something I’ve never done ( we do have some great Christmas T-shirts though) but I loved the review of all your lovely knits 🧶
Yes, a woolly jumper in high summer doesn’t sound like a very inviting combination 😆 Sorry it was such a Northern Hemisphere-centric topic, we tend to associate Christmas with cold, dark and cosying in by the fire…I’m sure it’s very different in Australia. I once spent Christmas in the Peruvian Amazon and could not reconcile the weather with the season at all; I just felt like I’d missed it altogether that year! So glad you enjoyed the review, thanks for watching 💕💗💕
How lucky your niece and nephews are to have such a talented aunt! I like that you've included colorwork to suit each child's interests. I like Tin Can Knits support of pattern adaptations for yarn type. I'm investigating their recipe to try to create my next sweater. I'm knitting a colorwork sweater of my own design, and spaced the designs either above or below increases on a circular yoke. It's still a work in progress, as I wasn't thinking about the total width with a motif that is 21 stitches wide. I may need to do a lot of decreases before the ribbing!
Ooh, that sounds lovely! I’d really like to see it when you’re done, I’m sure it’ll be beautiful 🤩 There’s a lot to consider in garment making isn’t there?! Thank goodness for talented designers with excellent pattern writing skills 😅
A jolly and entertaining session. Your nieces and nephews are indeed fortunate to be gifted so many delightful sweaters knitted by you. I'm happy to hear they appreciate them keep them for a good while. Happy holiday knitting.
I think they just like getting stuff 🤣😉 They’re are lovely bairns really, and seem to appreciate their special jumpers. I’m a lucky auntie to have them 🥰 Thanks for your kind wishes, and thanks for being here 💗
Thank you so much! 💗 It helps to keep my interest when I knit different things. This year I’ve gone for the same pattern for all of them though because my brain is definitely not firing on all cylinders 😆
Please do! You could enter it in the Caledonia KAL too 😉 The size range isn’t great as it’s an older pattern, but it does give instructions for in between sizes that can be achieved by working with a looser gauge. Thanks for watching 💕
I loved this edition of your episodes. I have 2 nieces and 2 nephews. I had planned all year to start their Christmas sweaters for them. You have inspired me but don't think I can get 4 done in the next few months!!! Thank you for sharing all your sweaters!!!!
4 festive hats instead?? I used to start my making over the summer, to give myself plenty time, but the wee monsters just kept growing too quickly 🤣😉 It’s always a bit of a rush, as I want them to have their jumpers for early December so there are plenty opportunities for wear before the season is over. It’s absolutely worth any stress when I see them in their jumpers though 🥰 Thanks so much for watching 💕
@@TheThoughtfulKnitter good idea on the hats!! I agree about having the sweaters /hats ready by the first of December so they can get wear!! Thank you for replying!! Enjoy the rest of your week!!!
Loved this episode. As the grandmother of four boys, this is great! 🇨🇦

Great episode and don’t worry that it’s too soon. I’m a slow knitter!😊
Phew! I’m hoping folk will watch it when they need it (or not at all if festive knits aren’t their thing!). So glad it wasn’t too early for you 💕
Amazing jumpers!
Thanks so much Barbara 🥰💕💗
What a great and varied collection of sweaters! Thank you!

I've been looking for an aran weight colour work, I might have to join you with boreal x
