FINALLY Direct Sowing Sweet Peas, Sweet Pea Growing Guide, and First Arrangement of The Season!

- Garden Gals and Guys, I've done it - I've FINALLY got my Sweet Peas in the ground. Better late than never! I'm trying direct sowing this year, which usually is done 6 weeks before your last frost date; however, with my high-risk pregnancy this year, it just got placed on the back burner. Life happens! I do attempt to give you a plethora of information on growing these beauties because I've enjoyed having them in my garden for years, so I hope you find a method that works well for you and add them into your garden!
FURTHERMORE, I HAD to show you my first arrangement of the season from my Spring flowers including anemones and specialty daffodils! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I have to say if Delnasaugh and Banana Splash daffodils are not in your cut flower garden yet...run and order them stat, so you don't miss out on these incredible blooms. I just had to sneak that in there and show you!
MUCH more to do! My last frost is now 2 days away at the time I'm posting this video, so a planting frenzy out in the garden is about to begin!

Yes, I agree. Definitely soak them overnight. Is the better method I find 😊
We’re growing lots of the same sweet peas. Bristol, Blue Shift, Proctol off the top of my head. I follow Erin The Impatient Gardener’s method of putting them between sheets of damp paper towel then into deep root trainers. Just love ‘em!

So funny story about dates and seed age. My grandmother had some beet seeds that were 20 years old so she didn't think they would sprout so she planted the entire package. guess what ALL of the seeds germinated 🤣🤣🤣

I’m zone 5b. I soaked and direct sown in March. They were coming up in about 2wks
I wish I would’ve gotten mine out then, but most have sprouted so we’re getting somewhere!
Hi Tinys Garden. Wanted to see how the baby bunny’s are doing. I also had babies make a nest in my garden bed and they are doing well.
They’ve flown the coop, but I think I’ve seen them around and they’re growing! 👍
First time with sweetpeas this year, and I only had one variety, so plonked them in the soil as is lol. They came up! I used not very deep row trays, which I've used before for snowpeas, and I can just lift them off as a whole row and plant. They are hardening off now, gonna plant them in a couple containers and see how they do!

I direct sowed my sweetpeas this year but back in feb. They are tough and coming up just fine. Zone 6a
You were right on time! Glad to hear yours are working for you!
Next year, to keep your life even simpler you could winter sow your sweet peas in milk jugs in January or February. Super hands off and they sprout when the temp is right. It has been a game changer for in starting all my flowers. 💐
