Part should work, problem with the birds is as time goes you go deaf to it until someone points it out again and you take time for a good listen. Thanks for watching.

hi Lance, another interesting set of vids, re the hss mill cutters, i saw a video that said running cutters too slow is as bad almost as too fast, not enough chips are made to take the heat of the piece and they overheat with the rubbing/friction. Anyway the job turned out fine as usual. keep em comming.

G Day Derek, I had not thought of that with the cutters, but then again Im just an old tractor mechanic lol.

Hi again, i'm not 100% on that but i have seen it mentioned in a couple of videos, carbide tips seem to work better too the harder you push them, within reason of course. I like to take things steady but at times ive had to up the speed/feed on the lathe to get a better finish. B.t.w what happened to part 2 of the flyweel grinder recon, can't seem to find it or is it on the backburner? Thanks again for all the videos, i feel at times i'm sitting there having a chat, now that would be nice. All the best

Grinder is on the backburner, seems everything else jumps in front of it. I use carbide on the lathe a lot and go hard and fast and I seem to get a better finish that way.

Hi Bundy - I was pointed to your channel by Emma a few weeks ago. Enjoyed catching up with your videos. Only last week I was at an engine rally (Carrington Rally 2016 on my channel) and talking to some of the Marshall lads, so saw these (again)
first hand. Interesting I noticed they all screwed them in by hand.
    Top job that is :)

Glad to have you aboard, Yes they should only be fitted by hand but by the look of the ones we had for the job there had been a bit of tapping with something. I will go and check your channel out too. thanks for watching and comenting.

A good job building a new wick holder. Any chance we will get to see the engine run that it goes into? Keep on keeping on.

Harrold, go to my facebook page ( Lance Maskell ) and I just shared a video on starting the Field Marshall tractor with a 12g shot gun cartridge. Im not sure how to get it to you tube for you.

I shared it on your facebook page Harrold so it might be easier to find too.

I saw it on my facebook page. Facebook is a mystery to me, just created the account about a month ago. That was on a tractor, I should have known that was where it would be used. Did you see the Field marshal engines in India?

Here are a few clips from you tube on starting a field Marshal with a crank handle and also with a 12g cartridge. None of them are mine but should give the idea on how it all works.
