They probably aren't letting the driver fully charge the battery. It is common especially in PHEVs to leave a large reserve section of the battery. That said, the Range Rover is obviously far less efficient than something like a Leaf or Bolt or Model 3 etc.
I think the new Range Rover designs look very good. With all these over complicated designs coming from the likes of BMW and others it’s refreshing to see a clean and sleek looking design.
Hard not to feel a spark with our PHEV option - we're looking forward to you seeing the fully-electric models on the way next year too. Exciting times.
Would love to see you compare this to the 2024 Cayenne E Hybrid, especially as far as hybrid smoothness and performance. The 2024 will have 40 more HP, but a smaller battery.
Hey Alex, I'm in the bay area, and was genuinely interested in one of these, but every dealer I visited said, Land Rover has completely canceled all allocations of both the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover plug in hybrids! None of them gave me an explanation, but said they're even canceling orders placed last year. They also said they're not even entertaining orders for next year... any clue whats going on?
My cousin ordered a range rover long wheelbase early last year and has been still waiting to get a delivery date. Finally, she canceled her order and is ordering a Rivian R1 S instead. Cannot bode well for Jaguar Land Rover as a auto manufacturer.
Mine came a few months before initial estimate. It could also be that my dealer just happened to have some order coming and it just happens to match most of my features .
JLR's parent company Tata motors has a 'long range EV crossover' in India with nearly same battery size. It's called Tata Nexon EV Max that can do nearly 200 miles of real world range.
Great review. I have one coming in; it is on the boat now. I found a 2023 Range Rover Sport Autobiography P440e for sale in Varesine Blue (like this one) with the Caraway/Ebony interior. I can't wait. I did drive a Dynamic SE and the drive and ride are great and the seat comfort is amazing. I trust your reviews as I think you always do a spot-on review. Thanks again.
Exelllent review. I will cross shop this against the Cayenne hybrid. Would love to hear and watch a review of that car I believe the 2024 model has a larger battery than previous generations
I just checked inventory and as of mid September 2023 there are exactly 36 of these available in the USA. That's right, in the entire country. And one or two dealers that actually had one added a 'dealer pack' or some such nonsense of huge amounts. Nope, might be an ideal if expensive PHEV, but you'll not find me paying these prices and taking whatever color they have. Moving on to next best.....
Thanks while I understand there's more car for the $100+k price tag, how would you compare the ride and interior quality to the 40th Anniversary Outlander PHEV . Thanks Mike
15:41 Wait, you had to pull over and turn off the engine to reenter EV mode in a timely manner? How long would it have taken otherwise? Is that common in PHEV, or unique to Land Rover?
Too much money for me. I test drove a Land Rover about 5 years ago. It was nice but I didn’t think it was worth the $70K MSRP. Only two tiers of seats. I wanted a 7 passenger for the grandkids. The Nissan Pathfinder has been a good fit and at half the price.
HORRIBLE. Less than 50 miles on 38 kWh?!? That’s absolutely trash - less than 1/2 of the efficiency of an Ioniq 5. This is Hummer EV level bullshit. Hard pass.
I agree, but... It's not far off the Mazda CX-90 phev or the Jeep phevs efficiency. From what I found, this is 50 mpge, and Mazda and Jeep are 49-56. I find poor efficiency slightly more acceptable in an ultra-luxury off-roader than those other vehicles.
This is a plug-in hybrid..Ioniq5 is a 100% EV..there in NO comparison with the two.... RRS 440e is by far the best range PHEV model out there. I have been doing a lot of research on the PHEV's and this one is the best.
Oddly enough the hybrid part of any car even the least reliable IS the MOST reliable part of the car. Thus the hybrid should be slightly more dependable.
Crazy it has the same battery size as a small battery Nissan Leaf.

With this and the Outlander PHEV you have two of the only DCFC PHEVs for sale in the US in your driveway
Would love to see you compare this to the 2024 Cayenne E Hybrid, especially as far as hybrid smoothness and performance. The 2024 will have 40 more HP, but a smaller battery.
this has the same battery size as my 2020 ioniq ev, and my ioniq gets 170 miles of range with that battery. Kinda nutty how this battery is for a phev
That wide angle camera while you were driving is a total eye trip. Is this the SUV Volt replacement? Definitely looks good.

That is strange jojo, I am picking up a p440e next week that I had placed a deposit on last year.
@@bikramvirk6746 I have been trying to place an order as well and they keep pushing back the date??

I'll take the "new" Cayenne Hybrid

The main competition would be the Cayenne e-hybrid.
Great review. Very informative.
Uh 14:32 some camera issues alex?
18:57 20:28
Does the tailgate glass open by itself? Or do you have to open the full tailgate
Very cool, awesome looking SUV.... except for the gloss black center stack and touch buttons on steering wheel.
Alex, does the PHEV have a heat pump? (Sorry in advance if I missed it in the video)
Cool car.
mpg not so cool for a phev
Thanks while I understand there's more car for the $100+k price tag, how would you compare the ride and interior quality to the 40th Anniversary Outlander PHEV . Thanks Mike
Every other RR Autobiography version was extended. Is this as well? If so, is there a shorter (less expensive) version in the works?

Need a comparison to the new Cayenne E-Hybrid and also the Cayenne S.
Hmmmm.. liked the seat color
What is the colour of this?
The Mini Cooper SE can do 120 to 150 miles with that battery capacity.
Still waiting for your out lander phev!!!!!!!
He already purchased it.
I know it's a stretch, but how does this compare to a fully-loaded Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV? I can't help but see similarities..
Im being told buy Land Rover that you can no longer get an 8 cyl sport or this PHEV. Just the HSE and dynamic.
I like the Jeep 4XE but it is not quite British enough.
Damn, the QX60 smaller than a RX.
30 hours charge to get 50 miles....I put mine in for 11 hours and got 16 miles...
With a Level 1 charger, sure. That's what Level 2 is for! -Travis
@@EVBuyersGuide and that level #2 will cost how much????????????
@@chadhaire1711Chad what’s up man! I didn’t know you had one? Have u ever posted a video?

oh, a PHEV with a 6 figure price tag? good, because i always thought plug in hybrids just needed to cost more.
Lol 60 miles of range on a 38 kWh battery - what a monstrosity.
For when you think even a Jeep is too reliable

Did I hear a BLM property 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Electric motor size is unfortunate. IMO PHEVs should have more powerful motors than engines to use as little gas as possible

How do you make a Range Rover even less reliable?
Oddly enough the hybrid part of any car even the least reliable IS the MOST reliable part of the car. Thus the hybrid should be slightly more dependable.
6 figures for a piece of garbage that gets 21 mpg combined..
