Emily was the best guitar teacher I ever sat with. She would LISTEN to your playing, get a snapshot of your abilities, your feel, your time, and your TONE, and would offer the perfect routine to get you to the next level. She was a sweet, sensitive, troubled soul, but always musical and honest and obviously a badass player. She called me from Australia to say hi on May 4th, 1990. She was very depressed on the phone and sadly, she died that evening. Rest In Peace, Emily.
So sorry for your loss if it helps any I am relatively new to hearing her having 1st heard her maybe a year ago, I listen to the Live in Las Vegas recording a lot. I can't Imagine your level of Gratitude for having studied with her.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does someone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my login password. I love any help you can give me!
She left too soon. She was brilliant. A tremendous talent on the guitar, but a great mind also. And you can she she's in pain here. And that is heartbreaking.
Such a shame she left us so soon. I didn't know about her until a few years after she passed but I've enjoyed her music since. Imagine the jazz world now if she were still around!
Spoke + her I/t Richmond pub in Adelaide whils she was on the Aussie leg of her tour. Said she was considering moving to Oz ... which struck me dumb ... what’s here 4 her? Anyways, a few days later the news is she’s found dead in Ed Gaston’s Pott’s Point flat ... something like that ... devastating loss/the only great lady jazz guitarist I can think of JUST about to join the ranks of WMontG, GBenson & PMartino ... just starting to really take off. Years ago I found a bunch of her lessons online ... & sure the gtr lessons were insightful but was really impressed how nice she was with her students/attentive yet conversational ... sad loss🙏. Joe, I just saw ur comment ... man I’m sorry that happened to u ...

That's amazing yet very sad, she is such an inspiration
She was a roommate of mine in high school and we had so much fun together. Emily is missed.
I saw her with Larry Coryell one night. I'll always remember that special evening.
She was a classmate of mine in NJ through her second year in high school. Nice person, bright, beautiful, and talented.

Love and miss Emily immensely ❤️
Whenever I think of Emily I’m reminded of Karen Carpenter. Both talented, beloved, and gone at 32.
Fantastic upload my friend… many thanks!
What a sad thing she passed away! thanks to you Limeyguitar!
Beautiful girl. Beautiful soul. Sad.
“It strikes fear in my heart actually.” Wish I could be scared like she was.
My girl and I listen to her playing frequently during our lunch hour.
Drugs have taken so so many beautiful talents from us...she was right there among the giants...
Well said
Awww she was just great
I loved Emily.
A good sermon from a great guitarist. Probably the best female one.
Probably one of the best jazz guitarists of all time, male or female.
