    Why do you travel with a backpack? Let’s talk about it!

      When you pack right the weight is rarely so that you suffer back strain. All of my convertibles have weight lifters and a few even have hip belts which help a lot.
      I simply find wheels annoying and if a carry-on bag is going to be checked because everyone else bought a wheeled carry-on bag and the cabin ran out of space, I personally have never had a 40 liter backpack checked.
      Not having wheels also means you are also not pulling one arm behind you which actually does cause upper back strain, ask any chiropractor!
      I am #TeamBackpack !!

    I will be eagerly awaiting the 30 liter Tortuga Lite based on your review. I am 5’3 so the 40l is quite large for my smaller frame. I hope it is in the works!

    Between me, my siblings and my dad we own 5 Tortuga Setout backpacks, which is an older model of theirs. They are so lightweight, roomy and versatile. I've kept up with their later releases and I'm convinced nothing they've produced since is better than the Setout.

    Looks like the perfect travel backpack. Everything you need, nothing you don't. 🙂

    I love that the compression cube opens all the way and that it holds so much. I wish it came in lighter colors.

      I usually despise compression cubes, but this one I do love! I’d love more colors too

    A wonderful carry-on backpack! Love it. I am 5’1” and I am wondering if it could be too big for me 🤔

    The only problem I have with the 40L backpacks is that they can be really heavy with prolonged use. For my back the max I would go is 30L anything over that and I am happy to pay extra and carry a roller suitcase .
    When would you personally favour a 40L backpack over a roller suitcase , I am curious , if you could answer that .
    Thank you for the video I always enjoy watching your videos xxxx

      Believe me, I understand. I actually have a really really bad back and never prefer backpacks over rollers. I am always traveling internationally with long lines for customs and security, so rollers are preferred for me.
      But there are times on certain trips that roller bags are not welcomed, especially remote places and very small planes.

    When Tortuga rolled out its V4 lineup and discontinued the SetOut and the Outback lines I truly thought the company had been sold. Apparently the founders are still in charge but this was such a change from the original Tortuga bags that I was confused.
    Having preferred to not have interior dividers and pockets the original SetOut fit my preferences. Lighter weight is often better and I hope that a lot of travelers fall in love with the bags in that they never check another bag and possibly stop dragging wheels across cobblestones, annoying locals all over the planet.
    I see a lot of good here but for the money I would probably choose the Cotopaxi Alpha over this new V4. Just further proof that there is a perfect bag for everyone.
    Happy travels everyone! 🌎 🌍 🌍

      Not sold! Just had to liquidate inventory to survive the pandemic and wanted to come out of it better and stronger. -Fred, Co-Founder at Tortuga

      @@TortugaBackpacks good to hear this Fred! I love my SetOut and always tell people it is one of the best thoroughly thought out bags in my arsenal. Good to hear the shift to a lighter material and other changes was not as radical as I feared. Cheers!

    Not sure I’m ready to graduate to backpack as my carry on. Is the backpack too big to be considered a personal item. You might have mentioned this in your previous video.

      Yes, this is a carry on backpack. They have personal item ones!

    Read my mind just looking at 30l tortuga..trying to go minimalist packing...planning ahead ..do you think a chest or hip strap is most comfy and supportive? The airline says you have to put it on overhead but qm only 4ft 10 and a half so wouldnt reach at all. The 40l would ve what am used to but now European an int airlines have added charges if they even accept 40l as carry on anymore. What about plastic compression sacks with a portable travel pump please ever used them? I always use cubes. Guess have only been to 75 countries if you count multiple visits and Scotland Wales Channel Islands ..😂

    • @ItsTheKellys
      @ItsTheKellys  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Someone will always help you reach it! And I don’t ever use the plastic bags where you suck the air out of them. They wrinkle your clothes, and if they break, which I’ve seen, you won’t be able to fit them back in!

      @@ItsTheKellysditto on the plastic bag vacuum contraptions.
      Unless you want to look like you dressed out of the 90s crinkle skirt fad!?! 😅

    • @IntriguedLioness
      @IntriguedLioness 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If based in Europe definitely go through the 30 litre. Heed Lauren's advice on the crinkly vacuum bags.
      PS getting to know taller travelers is half the fun. I'm 5' 4" and always get someone to reach up high for me, and flight attendants are much happier to lift soft-sided bags into the overhead bins!
