    Because of how accurately the knee reap fundamentals were described within the first few minutes, I’m liking and subscribing.

    I can't believe that reaping is bad but the 10:12 is legal 😮 that's an absolute disaster position for your knee

    3:51 this video is making me grimace like a mofo. Damn, I'm glad I googled this shit early learning BJJ.

    Very helpful now I know what not to do. Even as a purple belt I still love to learn how to compete or do cage fights and learn what NOT to do

    The way I see it (tell me if I'm wrong) the hip is 1,
    Knee is 2,
    And ankle is 3
    You can do things to 1 and 2 and 2 and 3 but you cannot skip a number

    Cheers, what about a standing knee slice sweep attacking the rear of the knee is that legal?

    This video explained the information about the disqualifications very well. Personally I'm not sure that it should be banned and I'm glad that there are tournaments things are more acceptable. It's not realistic to not defend this attack

    Who gets DQd If the person stands up when you have them in the 4/11? The person standing or the person holding the 4/11?

    In the future, could you make sure to have your training partner have a different colored gi? Hard to tell what's happening in detail with the black on black. Other than that, love your videos!

    What if my opponent is standing and I have the ashi garami position, or single leg x. At which point my inside leg comes over the trapped leg's quad and I then triangle my legs to force the takedown.

    Past the center line is only a dq when the foot is under attack by submission in hold

    • @BecauseJitsu
      @BecauseJitsu  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unless the athlete being reaped is standing and gravity is causing the foot to be stuck:
      "It is not necessary for one of the athletes to hold the foot of his opponent in order for the foot to be considered
      caught or stuck.
      For purposes of this rule, when one athlete is
      standing and bearing their weight on foot of the
      same leg as the knee in danger, the foot will be
      considered caught or stuck." (p. 32)

    • @mtkube
      @mtkube 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but in that case it’s a penalty and not a dq

    • @mtkube
      @mtkube 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a serious foul penalty and a severe foul penalty depending on the position

    so you can't cross the outside leg to the inside, but you can cross the inside leg to the outside? how does that make sense?

    • @BecauseJitsu
      @BecauseJitsu  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      More or less, yes. It has to do with Lateral flexion of the knee joint. It bends naturally when you add inside pressure. It locks and tares when you add outside pressure.
      That's the idea, anyways.

    Another white belt pulled this on me. Luckily he didn’t blow out my knee cuz he let go as soon as I screamed. Month later it still hurts

    Ok and if relevant, why do I always hear people saying specifically that it is illegal in Gi BJJ? Do the rules or mechanics differ in NoGi?
    Also, I've gotten better lately at seeing and chasing the DeLaRiva guard and sweep both in BJJ and MMA. Can anyone who knows more than me (very low bar) envision a possibility of accidentally knee reaping someone doing it?

    Too much to think about
    While there must be rule sets the amount of rules and their fine details are more than i can store in my head while in a match a few rules make sense but over regulation leading to a lack of creativity all those illegal moves as they are called many are very practical in a self defense situation

    This rule is literally designed to punish leg lockers and make it easier to push the "holding" leg off. Terrible rule.
