Thank you so much for that brilliant, helpful Video! As i understand you you use the DFC AFTER some Unison Preamp (88RS) and thats not intended to be a preamp? Is that correct?

Correct. I always put the DFC at the end of any chain.

@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff Thank you - tried that for first chapter of new Audiobook (while using the 88RS EQ instead) and thats it! the real thing!

Awesome... thank you for this video. Quick question, do you offer a service to help build out a custom vocal chain for someone. I have most of the tools you are referencing (and can add if needed), but have no idea how to bring it all together into an amazing sounding vocal chain. Just checking to see if you would be able to help with this...

You're welcome, Russell. I know it can feel daunting, but it's not as complicated as it seems. Start here with this setup video. th-cam.com/video/8Meiz6Tty50/w-d-xo.html It's all about just gain-staging your input, drop a touch of compression and EQ to help your VO cut through and add the DFC. You can really do it all with just a Unison preamp, the DFC and if need be, a de-esser. Try this first.

@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff Thank you for your quick reply. That was another helpful video, and I'll give it a shot.
Would you happen to have a favourite Preamp to use with the Shure SM7b, or Sennheiser MKH-416 shotgun mics? Is the Neve 88Rs a good choice for those too?
      Appreciate your help

@@RussellWestcott Definitely try the 88Rs with those mics. And the Voxbox, especially on the 7b. :)

    Hey Mark,
You could, in fact, share your presets. On mac they're located in "/Library/Application Support/Universal Audio/Presets/UAD AMS Neve DFC Channel Strip" for the DFC, or otherwise for each other plugin. Not sure about where they live under Windows, but I suspect they're likely the same format between systems.
    So, yeah.. /Library/Application Support/Universal Audio/Presets/[PLUGIN NAME HERE] 👍

Hi Will! Dude, that's fantastic. I will totally do that. I could put the preset file on Dropbox. Thank you so much. That's genius.
