    This is the first video I've seen on this plugin. It's the only plug I had to just learn myself since there were no demos. I kind of prefer that because it allowed me to find my own unique way of the using it. It's become my main shaper tool especially music busses and a lot of other things. The imaging in the I/O section helps you put things exactly where you want them to be.

    As a man that has used the actual DFC a lot this really is amazing. I only wish it had the Neve Preamps somehow digitally jammed inside 😂 but the compressors are really the special juice in this thing.

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  ปีที่แล้ว

      Right? If they had a switch that could turn on a Neve preamp inside the DFC, it would be all you ever needed. Those compressors are so goooood. Purpose made for dialogue.

    I can't tell you how thankful I am for you exposing me to this. I have always been looking for "THAT" sound in a format I can understand and learn in. This is going to force me to buy a lot of additional UA stuff to utilize this while I am on tour and mixing podcasts 😊
    @universal audio get this man a preset!

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Carson, glad to help. The DFC was a total revelation to me, too. I’m so geeked over it. The UA workflow is a real joy to work with. You are gonna dig it. The DFC does so much and has that broadcast sound. You may not need many other plugs. Thanks for the comment. And enjoy!

      @@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff for a lot of my location sound, it appears to be a perfect compliment to my RX 8 processing. That seems like a pretty insane pairing.

      @@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff have you used it retroactively on already recorded material and not as a preamp emulation on the way in?

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Carsonchildersmusicnow I have only used it live to track with. But I imagine it should be just as effective as a post tool. The DFC was created for post so really the intended main use is to fix tracks after the fact.

    Great video! I find certain plugins tricky to get set right when they're unintuitive like the pultec pro legacy. Have you tried the little labs voice of god plugin? Would be interesting to see how that expander gate would do if you sat outside your booth :)

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Tobbe! I have tried the VOG and I like it for some things but my feelings about exaggerating the low end of a VO has evolved. Seeing how the expander gate works outside the booth is another good idea for a future video. :)

    • @tobbe8287
      @tobbe8287 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I can't stress this enough, I think sitting in a booth is old world thinking :D now drag your ass out to the sofa and give this bad boy expander/gate a real challenge. Have you seen how efficiently Nvidia's RTX Voice eliminates background noise?

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tobbe8287 LOL Call me old fashioned then. I'll stick with the way broadcast ready VO is done, in a booth or sound treated environment, not a living room. I've seen a couple of the RTX demo videos and I think it's really more for live broadcast as opposed to VO. Sure it kills the background noise but also degrades the overall voice quality.

    Have you tried the Waves Scheps strip?

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I try not to add as little compression as possible so what I do add, I like to be as transparent as possible. I have not tried any Waves products for VO yet, only UA because it's such a simple workflow to use their stuff and print what I hear with their system. I have heard amazing things about the Waves stuff but I don't know about using them "live" and monitoring through them. I should dig around and find out more.

    Great vid brother! I was wondering if you have a chain of your current settings used when doing your voice over work! Everything you have setup when you go to do your work! Or a example of setting up your strips!

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you, Cj! After years of trying all kinds all kinds of inserts and plug ins, I now try to keep my chain simple. It's just Unison preamp (Neve 88rs) into the DFC, and occasionally Precision De-esser at the end. But that's a good idea to show my whole chain. I'll put that on the video 'to-do' list. Thanks for the idea!

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Yeah that’s my bad. These videos often happen when I have 15 minutes between sessions, so it’s shoot/fast edit and edit. A few times I’ve left my headphone send in full mono so the imbalance goes unnoticed until someone says something. I believe the Neve will operate in stereo naturally when placed on a stereo track.

    • @cyberhuman2429
      @cyberhuman2429 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your quick reply. I don't think it was a hasty oversight on your part.
      I installed the trial version of UAD and tested it with FL Studio. There the AMS Neve DFC turns a recorded stereo vocal track into a mono track that can only be heard on the left. I have not had anything comparable with any other plugin. Can you please check this once against. And do you have a solution for this? Thank you.
