    I like what Ive been hearing about the gravity machine, the 2 things I have reservations about is how easy it is to break down for transport and the long term strength of the stress points in the polymer tank , I watched Anthony's video where he jumped all over it, and yes I am looking for a new rig. Currently on Kyle O's old Yooda Yak.

    At 6:40 you talk about the Helix prop pushing harder, especially at full throttle, but how does it compare with fuel efficiency to the E-Prop?

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are so close that I can't tell a difference. If I put the same amount of fuel in the tank and fly the same way, I'll land with about the same amount of fuel.

    Do you have the pucks and ACS/DFS system? I'd be super interested in hearing your opinion on the DFS system for the defiant and how it behaves for weight shift.

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do have dfs but I don't have the smaller pucks that allow more movement. I have quite a few hours on the virus ppg which had a similar system that allowed a lot of weight shift.
      My personal preference is a more stable harness setup. I feel like I can fly more precise with a more stable swing arm and harness because the wing only turns exactly by how much I pull the brake. With a harness setup that allows lots of roll, turbulence and throttle input have a much greater effect on you which effects the wing as well.
      It really is a personal preference thing though. Flying hot highly loaded wings, I prefer more stable harnesses.

    • @stealcian74
      @stealcian74 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MitchG Thanks for the reply. That's in line with what I had first thought. I had dismissed it as something I'd probably never really need as most of my flying is low and aggressive. Now that I am close to buying a defiant I was re-thinking it, I can see the appeal in the concept for ridge-soaring or thermaling mid-day with my free fly wing.
      I suppose I was curious if you used it in a similar way with ridge soaring or xc / thermals on a bigger wing.
      It's an expensive thing to buy just for trying out the concept.

    Is this your primary paramotor? Do you recommend it over a used maverick for a beginner entering the sport?

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it's my only paramotor now. You can get a bran new gravity for the same price as a used mav. A used motor will eventually have problems (pullstart, exhaust, ect). A new gravity comes with a warranty to fix those issues for free if you even have problems with a new motor. I would pick the gravity. The mav is only like 4lbs lighter weight but has a tiny fuel tank and hoop

      @@MitchG Thank you for the quick response. What's your opinion on this motor coupled with the Dudek Universal. I'm starting training this spring and want a wing I won't quickly outgrow 😊

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@madsoothsayer the uni is what you want. It has the most speed range out of all the other gliders in its class. I know many pilots including myself that still fly a universal even after flying for multiple years

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont think so. I have the supair adjusted very nice now so its much easier to get out of the harness. I had the leg straps to tight. This harness is more comfortable in the air and I love the magnetic speed bar holder

  • @torqdoff
    @torqdoff 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great vid Mitch. It looks like a good motor but I'm concerned about long term stress on the plastic at the connection points. Does the plastic seem substantial enough for long term use in your opinion?

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah imo I think it will last. Theres hardly any stress on the hoop attachment points in flight and just maybe half the weight of the motor when it's on the ground. Time will tell. I'll be racking up hours in probably the most harsh conditions so I'll let yall know

      @torqdoff 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MitchG Thanks for the reply. Have you flown the Excend or Exceed yet? It looks like Gravity has the most affordable entry pricepoint into this sport but that makes me question the quality. I'd trust your opinion if you thought it was a good viable option.

    Amazing flying .. in your opinion am I fine with this motor and a dominator wing for safety or should I go to the flat top for best safety ?

    • @MitchG
      @MitchG  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No doubt the flattop will take more of a beating than this motor. However, with some kiting practice, the flattop will just be dead weight and less features like a smaller tank, uncomfortable harness.
      Safety comes from the pilot. You can crash hard enough that a flattop still wont protect you. There have been pilots that have broken their back and died on flat tops, so buying a specific motor doesnt make you more safe. Practice and understanding make you a safer pilot, not gear.

    Hey Mitch I’ve been flying an e-prop for a while and agree it feels like it tops out on thrust early. I was considering ordering a glidersports prop. It looks like a helix, is it basically a less expensive version of the helix? I remember you flying a glidersports prop a while back.

    • @MitchG

    Looks like you got the follow cam angle worked out for this one, pretty cool. I love these red sands vids. Is the seat wider, or the attach points wider? Wondering what causes more weightshift. The Mitch's Ridge launch is looking pretty nice. BTW Big Horn have been spotted in the Franklins. The limestone in the area was part of a reef known as the Permian Reef, it formed about 270 Mya. The flat areas around the mountains were the bottom of the Permian sea. All of that is older than the dinosaurs.

      When I see wildlife, I turn away so they don't get stressed and run. I'm just saying, when you fly please be respectful to their area. Fly away from it. Maybe in the future their numbers would grow..just sayin
