Oxygen deprivation helps the sensation. Won't kill you - but I bet it started to feel goofy. A great accomplishment still!
it truly was!
@@ChuckyWright The first time I went skiing in California, it was at Mammoth mountain. 11,080 feet at the summit and you can see for days. I stood there just taking it all in and realized those mountains were there long before me and will be there long after I'm gone. It kind of put my daily worries in perspective as to exactly how insignificant they truly are in the scope of the world. It was a moment to remember. On a different note, the air is pretty thin at that altitude. Did it have any impact on the fuel air settings of the carb? Thin air can be a real problem for a normally aspirated engine.

thanks man! Appreciate that!
Being afraid of heights =/= atmospheric height of 15k. Same feeling here haha.
As a PPG pilot myself, its not the height that gets me as that just gives me more time to fix a problem(175ft or 17,500ft you are a dead man anyway). Its the higher winds, cold, and the disappearing we use to pilot out of isolations. With no instruments in front of us it can get disorienting as the winds move the glider around.
@@RwP223 So true and I was wondering also how can you tell how much gas you have since it's behind you when flying that long or that distance is it just a guessing game what you have left.

total noob question but would it be possible to climb to 45k feet altitude and still fly at speeds from 15-20mph while having a good amount of gas left over. And how long will it take you to climb up there.

My grandson knew that I had parachuted in the Marines and he wanted me to go with him to the classes at the local airfield, so I did. I never knew that he expected me to jump with him. I was 64 at the time and never jumped since the war, but I did it just for him. We jumped from 900 feet. I was kind of afraid, but I put my faith in God and whoever folded my chute.

@@ChuckyWright In Which country was this adventure filmed?
@Xuefinoo Okay.
I agree. This is one of the bravest things to do in the history of mankind wow 🤩
This is amazing sir!
I just watched the whole thing. And it was somewhat eerie watching you literally going through those clouds man.
Nice job on the footage!
Looked very well done 👌
This was spectacular brother. It takes guts to do what you did and you did it flawlessly. I never thought this motor can go up that high. Congratulations.
thanks so much I greatly appreciate that!
It is truly miraculous how he was able to go that high with two humongous balls of steel weighing him down like that
Next step would be to emulate Luke Aiken, remove all the gear and jump from that height into a net.
Balls of osmium
Thos does take extreme courage Chucky!!!!! Respect!!! Congratulations!!!
Balls made of 100% solid vibranium
Hahahahahah
Curious to hear, what altimeter setting did you use and what clearances did you get to fly in commercial airspace?
no need for clearance Class G air space the whole way through
@@ChuckyWright okay airspace fair enough, but what about your altimeter setting and your transponder. Assuming you're in the states or even EU you're legally required to have one. (Mode C output if you know what that is). Hypoxia is very dangerous at FL 180 so if you claim to be that high idk how you're breathing without side effects including feeling of being drunk off the lack of air. I won't go onto the video itself but it looks like you're about half the altitude you say you are given off the flights I have done.
You've also flown through a cloud, unless youre pulling out an FAA license with an IFR to permit IMC for that I don't know how the agency will Feel about that. Feel free to debunk anything I say though. (You should have altimeter especially as breaching commercial airspace is very illegal)
That was insane. And the cherry on top was how you were able to land exactly where you took off, I would have thought you flew to a different state lol
thanks so much! I Greatly appreciate it!
Been up there under canopy skydiving...its beyond amazing...keep in mind you shoulda brought a bit if oxygen with you. Anything above 16000 for any extended period of time you become hypoxic. Gotta watch for that bro! Great experience and video! Fly Safe!!!
Thanks! Greatly Appreciate It!
I wanna see Chucky get sucked into a 777 engine at 500 kts.
Can you imagine being in a plane and looking out your window to see a guy waving at you from outside? My mind is blown!!!!
Thanks so much!
Did somebody say , menu log
In a chair! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
planes usually fly at above 10 000 meters, that's twice higher than he was
@@jhonywalker002 that s just airliners, other smaller aircrafts can Cruise around these altitudes
When it comes to flying through the clouds, are paramotors bound by VFR and IFR regulations for cloud clearance requirements and getting any sort of ATC clearance?
VFR and thats it
Imagine going back and telling the Wright brothers that someone would be flying lawnmower engines hooked to a propeller with a parachute on your back to 17,000 feet. They would call you insane.
thanks so much appreciate it!
@A Z The first internal combustion lawnmower engine was made in 1902. And the Wright brother's flight occured in 1903.
@@ChaseThePinballWizard It was built in the U.K and it was massive and a ride on mower.
The Wright brothers probably never heard news of the lawnmower for several years.
Interesting point...it would be interesting to do a comparison of the Wright brothers' engine to this one.
Those early aviators had some nasty crashes. You had to have a lot of balls to go up in those primitive early experimental aircraft.
I used to fly ultralights and have soloed a 152. Flying by yourself has to be EXPERIENCED. It’s hard to describe to people. I scuba dive which is also an incredible experience. Enjoyed your vid!
Fly safe and have fun…
thanks man and I free dive and scuba as well needs to be experienced first hand!
On a day with good visibility, water deep enough to just barely see the bottom (50ft.), scuba diving is like being able to fly like superman, but slower. But, still, it feels like I can fly.
@@mikemalo6336 Absolutely Mike!
You are incredibly brave for doing this! This video was scary to even watch let alone actually be there.
thanks so much!
I agree lol ooooo
Amazing dude! Pretty good flat earth proof too, like how the sun on the ground straight up and at 17,500ft, almost in front of you. Big respect for doing this! ❤
thanks!
The angle to the sun remained the same. 17500 ft is not enough to make any difference in that.
