Hi Dank, it sounds like you're internal display cable is either loose or damaged. It is also possible that the port itself on the moardboard could be damaged, but usually the cable is the culprit. Any Windows laptop should be able to have the screen closed and work to an external display. This is a Windows setting. Click your start menu and start typing "Close lid". It will suggest a settings option window called "Choose what to do when the lid is closed". Instead of sleep, or power off, choose "Do Nothing". You will be able to close the lid and the external display will keep running.
HI... i have asus zenbook uc305c and dell monitor. can someone post what cord and addopter i should buy to connect ? please post the picture and full descriotion or better yet a link to amazon... thank you so much
Hi Klaus, I'm able to get external display working sometimes, when I move the laptop screen angle, it disconnects, sometimes connects ... doy you thing is a Hardware issue ? best regards ! ps: are you able to use the laptop closed with external screen ? Is impossible on mine ...
Kimmy & Nicole Parhar you would likely have to do some very very fine soldering or some form of IR reballer meant for HDMI ports. Is your laptop fairly new with the issue or did this just recently develop?
Kimmy & Nicole Parhar I'd be careful, you are likely to get a diagnostic bill with the option to replace motherboard or it not being fixable. I'd assume you have tried a new or different HDMI cable first?

We are having the same issue with a Lindy micro HDMI to DVI cable - wobbly connection on the laptop causing sparkles. Did you replace the laptop?
Yes, this unit was sent back and we received a replacement unit that worked flawlessly.
same issue. I wonder if it's worth fixing the port on the momboard
