I'm a recovering people pleaser and beginner pipe smoker. 1.5 years ago, I made some massive changes in my lifestyle that led me to a path of maturity, temperance, patience, confidence, honor, and integrity. Your videos continually serve as a positive reinforcement to the path I've decided to walk as a man. Thank you for imparting your wisdom sir, it does not fall on deaf ears. - John
Wow! John97, I hope your path is long and straight and without too many bumps in the road. You sir sound like you are becoming the man i hope to be one day. You and your words are inspirational and I wish all the best in your pursuit. Thank you.
my wife went to be with our Lord couple months ago, and its been rough going to say the least, but wanted let y'all know how much the pipe and the pipe cottage videos have helped me threw the day, thanks again and God bless.
“The lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged” stay strong friend.
1 Thessalonians 4:11 "that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you..." Good news about the brick and mortar! Excellent thoughts! Thank you Sir.
I’m a cigar smoker that found you through the Dry Creek Wrangler channel. I didn’t find him because of cigars but it has given me reason to stay. I never thought I’d enjoy watching videos of men smoking and talking about manhood and faith, but I’ve come to find out I enjoy it because it is missing from my own life. While there are “good” men in my life, there aren’t many that just want to sit and have a conversation over a good tobacco blend. Everyone is in a hurry. Thank you for providing these videos. They’ve actually inspired me to seek out like minded individuals.
Agreed: there are people who make things happen, folks who watch things happen, and the unfortunate ones who find themseves continually wondering what just happened... Cheers, & God Bless.
I appreciate your philosophy on life. I appreciate you as a humble human being who is imparting good valuable advice. I completely understand why living in an observed life would be probably more beneficial than what the mainstream people of today would like to live unfortunately, most people do not want to hear the hard unvarnished truth. Thank you for all that you do.
After four décadas of being a lawyer and therefore a very public figure i have enjoyed a very prívate life. And never was i more happy. “Vanidad de vanidades, todo es vanidad”, as King Solomon said. I enjoyed you speech. God bless you !
This is Fred. I have been enjoying to again following your video's. Extremely Insightful. and look forward to many more. Best Wishes with your Business. Gods Blessings.
I myself am a Southern Gentleman from the Palmetto State, born and raised. A retired LEO and started dabbling into pipe (the cheap ones) smoking after retirement, because of a disability. Year's after my daddy passed away, I was going through some of his things, and in a pocket on his hunting coat ( he was a quail hunter) I found a pipe that he smoked occasionally. That got me wanting to learn even more. After discovering your channel and watching all of your videos, I was more drawn to get myself a (Real) pipe for Christmas this year. I chose the Savinelli 614 alligator. Thanks for insight and knowledge and history of The Old Ways down south here. I will continue this new journey thanks to you and your teachings. Best wishes on your next endeavors.
Well sir I have plans on visiting Kentucky with my family and extended family to see the Ark Encounter again and being a fairly new pipe smoker I would love to be able to visit The Pipe Cottage while on our visit seeing as my Brother is also a pipe and cigar smoker
I don't need to hear what you have to say, but I sure enjoy listening. Can't wait for the B&M to open up. I'll be making a trip from North GA to Kentucky to visit it. Good day, Alan.
Good word! People have a very difficult time with leading a quiet life because in today's society we are taught to be and are fully engaged in our narcissistic selves. "Look at me" is the norm. Anything that takes the light off of ourselves is rejected. Self is the focus and is the ultimate idolatry. A quiet life will cause you to inwardly look at yourself which is totally rejected in today's world. Nice to know that there are others being led to live this way. Your choice of Ale 8 to accompany your pipe is a good one. Nothing better than paring an Ale 8 with a smoke, Im a gar man myself. I also lived in southeast KY for 20 years and still enjoy my visits when I go back. There are alot of good people in that area. Sounds like I need to find your pipe store and pay a visit! I also enjoy your southern brogue. Always reminds me of a civil war general lol. Anyway, thanks for the videos. Always enjoy them!
Excellent channel. I live in South Florida and have family in Chattanooga, Tennessee. WHEN you open the brick and mortar, I will stop buying my pipes and tobacco products in other places. I will make it a point to reserve my purchases for when I go to visit my family, which is often, and go to your place to make my purchases. In addition, I love the South and everything about its culture, so I see myself traveling up more often than just to visit family. I will be glad to support your shop in person and online. God bless you and your family.
Thank you for your communication content and style. God has given you a talent, don't hide it. Keep using your talents. I had no idea that TH-cam did not financially support you and the many other pipers on TH-cam. Thank you for mentioning that. Bill Lititz & James Creek, PA.
Appreciate your videos brother . Always sound advice and wisdom from a man of integrity & decency . Best wishes and GOD bless from an Northern Ireland subscriber.
I need to hear what you say, please don't stop. You are one of my role models. I am a 28 year old with out a father. Never had one. But I look up to men in my life in person and online. You are one of them.
Have started my entry into the pipe. Your videos have certainly been helpful. I’ve started with a Missouri meerschaum and Cornell & Diehl Autumn Evening. Thanks for the good Videos. Christ is Born! Glorify Him. Hope y’all have a good Theophany in Kentucky.
Just made my first purchase at The Pipe Cottage. Thanks for your channel and plans to open a bricks and mortar. You will have my business. I always appreciate your posts. Best, Gary
I just recently started watching your channel after doing the video with Dry creek Wrangler when you gents were enjoying a pipe together. I like yourself waited until I was married to my wife of over 20 years now to be with anyone else we only know each other. Too much of society holds nothing sacred, and they have no moral compass. I started getting into pipes when I was around 18 I went to a cigar shop and would hang out a bit you could smoke cigars and pipes in the store so we would sit back and talk. There was a gentleman who had a beautiful mirschum pipe that was well used and had a vibrant red color that look amazing I look forward to getting a full size mirschum pipe. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to more of your content. I do agree in-person is a much better format but you can certainly meet a wide audience on youtube and hopefully you will add some things on Rumbe.
Dear Allan Thanks a lot for your thoughs and all good advices. I like my pipes but the Lord the most. Blessings from a pipesmoking christian fellow i Sweden. Martin Bengtsson
Great video that said it all and all that you said was clear as a bell ! Really enjoy the Pipe Cottage channel so much . Common sense isn't so common anymore, but I do recognize it when I hear it ! Thanks Alan for your wonderful videos that really have helped a lot of us think about all that's happening in this craziness around us ! It's not just pipes , it's life ! I believe you give us so much to think about if we just listen and contemplate , not letting it just go in one ear and out the other ! GOD bless you and yours, Larry McCormick
I'm sure you are a great teacher. You have the knack for storytelling as well as the voice. I look forward to seeing your brick and mortar store open. As a fellow Kentucky boy there aren't many in the state. Good luck with your endeavors and God bless you and your family sir. P.s I love ale8 as well. It's made close to where I live. It's almost too good lol
Even though it is not natural to speak to people through a camera, I'm glad you have decided to do so. A lot of guys didn't have a daddy to raise them the right way. Now, these guys seek men like yourself for guidance, as you may already understand. As I'm just about to turn 32, I have come to a realization about a year ago that the ways I have learned growing up are not ways I want to continue in. I have found other Godly men online that I admire in my search for guidance and direction. I would like to tell you that when I stumbled across your TH-cam page, I was just trying to figure out how to smoke a pipe. I was not expecting to find an intellectual that lives and teaches beyond a surface level. I was not seeking another mentor, but I'm glad I have found one as I take my first steps on my tobacco pipe journey. I look forward to viewing more of your content. God bless.
Thank you for this channel, great words, with which I whole heartedly agree. We all need to take a step back and stop pushing the world in front of us. Greetings from Northern Ireland. God bless.
As always an excellent video and representation of a gentleman. It's nice to know that there is other like minded individuals that are of the old way of life and of thinking and not everything needs to be modernized and sometimes simple is best. Every one who knows says I was born 40 years to late but I disagree.
I appreciate the reflection you provide to many of us who are also in areas of reflection in our lives. Looking forward to seeing the Pipe Cottage and will help as much as I can to support it. You are a great person and I have been following when I can, thank you for sharing your inspiration and helping me along my pipe journey
Excellent video, thank you! I'm also a lover of meerschaum pipes, and except for one of lesser quality I had that never seemed to smoke well, I would say that a properly smoked meerschaum is an especial joy. I completely appreciate the notion of an 'unobserved life'. Social media seem to have fostered some of the worst and most primitive of human behaviour in the form of exhibitionism and voyeurism. Lord knows people didn't need any encouragement in that regard. And of course the media corporations make out like bandits by the commodification of titillation and prurience. Anyway, congratulations on your decision to go ahead with your brick-and-mortar shop! I applaud your perseverance and look forward to patronising your establishment (though it will have to be online, as I live in Vermont). The pipe-smoking community needs more intrepid souls like you who are willing to take the road less travelled in this regard. When I was much younger, I would never have thought that pipe smokers would ever become a dying breed. Perhaps there is a large-enough 'breeding population' of us in the wild to maintain the tradition, but I suppose time will tell. Cheers and Happy New Year!
It sounds like you have discovered the current invasive nature of the internet and have grown in your individual sovereignty. When I was a younger man, I did not realize that others, and the internet by extension, could be such an intrusive malevolent force. Wonderful. Thank you
I'm glad I found your videos. At first I was drawn by the pipe and tobbacco content but I soon found a like minded voice " crying in the wilderness". There a missing element of proper, God ordained masculinity in our culture. You seem to have found it. It's not about muscles or being dominant in our interactions with others, it's about doing our best to live up to our God given responsibility to fulfill the man's role in home and community. Too many times we listen to the crowd instead of the small, still voice that was promised to lead us...if we' ll listen. Thank you for listening to that voice and sharing with us.
God bless you brother. It’s so nice to watch videos of people that are inspiring and encouraging. Your channel and @DryCreekWranglerSchool are my most watched channels and my favorites because it’s clean and real and so encouraging. I will be praying for Gods will to be done in your business pursuit and may he bless you and your family.
Glad to hear your shop is on the up and up. I will be happier when the B&M portion is up and running. Happy piping, smokin some Star of the East in my Aran bulldog watchin this. Keep the content rollin!
Now Alan, you know that Blenheim Ginger Ale, from Blenheim, SC is one of the best if not the best. The hot Blenheim will tickle your throat with spice for sure. Gotta try the Ale 8 if I can find it her in NC. Enjoying your content Alan.
OPSEC, operational security. This video is a very gentlemanly way of discussing OPSEC. It’s like stickers on your vehicle can say more than you want if someone knows how to read them for nefarious reasons. Privacy and safety goes hand and hand. Or maybe I’m just paranoid.
Thank you Alan, a bit more for me than the previous clips, these are the moments i love listening to whats on your mind. I pray to our Lord for your shop and dreams to come true. Be blessed my brother, see you araound. Bas
I really enjoy your videos and wisdom. I’ve added books to my reading list, slowed my life, and really contemplate how I want to interact with others. I’m on a journey at 46 to stop cursing and be more of a gentleman than I thought I was. You’re greatly appreciated and look forward to more conversations! In respect and support for you to continue this endeavor, I ordered one of those fine hats you have available on your website and look forward to seeing more merchandise in the future! God bless you and your family.
I am always eager to hear the carefully considered words of one who gives the benefit of experience and wisdom. It usefully takes a while for me to make a determination but carefully listening does the trick over time. I have found that a pipe in hand is an enhancement in that regard as it requires attention which allows the mind to carefully consider our words before opening our mouth. I very much appreciate how you speak slowly and deliberately about what’s on your mind. Fast talkers have always given me pause. I sometimes find myself hung up on some aspect of a discussion & if the conversation is a rapid fire event I loose some that comes while I’m stuck. Pipes give us a chance to digest to some extent before being asked to swallow the whole idea. What I’m trying to say is thank you.
Jefferson Davis also had an eagle claw meerschaum. He took it into captivity with him and even wrote what a comfort it was to him during those hard times. His pipe is on display at his presidential library near Biloxi, Mississippi.
Never lacking a wise word Mr. Harrelson! It is an absolute privilege to be present in these "conversations" we have. Many blessings to you and your family!
Thank you for your efforts in sharing your videos…as a cigar smoker that has moved to the pipe, I find your videos highly informative…more importantly I enjoy the shared wisdom and philosophy…I wish you every success in your endeavors…God Bless
Thanks for the great video. I can't begin to tell you how excited I am that you are starting the website again and have merch available. I just placed an order. I love the merch you have available and wanted to show my support as you have brought a great deal of joy to my life and have inspired me. Thank you for all you do sir.
Happy new year 🎉 Wish you a good year and all the success in your venture👏 and privacy and confidentiality should be observed. Silence is golden ✨️ Greetings from south africa 🇿🇦
Another great video. Much to ponder on. Congratulations on the return of your shop. As I grow older I find myself less and less likely to share my life online. I don't do it. Not because of anything nefarious of course, but it's no one's business. I lurk on my social media accounts and on occasion common if I find I have something to say. As much as I love the info provided by the web I find it's been more of a curse than a blessing.
I absolutely love listening to you and your topics. I myself stay off to my self and dont go around many people. You are right somethings needs to be yours and yours alone. Please continue to put these videos out .
Always very much enjoy listening to your videos Alan, you sir are a Gentleman and a Scholar as someone I respected used to tell me we should all strive to be! Glad to see you making headway in your endeavor and I will make effort to try and support your goals. Your channel is one I look for every time I'm on You Tube for that pick me up I always seem to agree with!
You are one the most sensible and honest souls on TH-cam, therefore I thoroughly enjoy hearing your thoughts on matters. Great to learn of the resumption of your dream. I will support those efforts to best of my abilities. Thank you once again for your meaningful contribution. Those of us who truly understand the value of your message and actions are most appreciative indeed.
Always a good word from Dr Harrelson. Best pipe channel on TH-cam.
I see you gb. My kind of people’s .
Im enjoying your channel and perspective well.

I’m sorry for your loss. May the Lord bless you and comfort you. You will one day see her and the Lord in glory, stay strong.
Godbless you brother. It's been a year but Im still going to pray for you.
1 Thessalonians 4:11 "that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you..."
Good news about the brick and mortar! Excellent thoughts! Thank you Sir.
Thanks for that. This is going to me my banner.

Happy to learn you are going to pursue the brick and mortar shop. I look forward to paying a visit.
After four décadas of being a lawyer and therefore a very public figure i have enjoyed a very prívate life. And never was i more happy. “Vanidad de vanidades, todo es vanidad”, as King Solomon said. I enjoyed you speech. God bless you !
Perfectly said! Such a beautiful explanation of how God meant for man and woman to share their lives together.
Just like to say Thank you for your general views on life always enjoy . AW. ( uk)
My Wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Brilliant. God bless you.
Thank you for being practical, forthright, and reasonable. Pure Kentucky wisdom.
This is Fred. I have been enjoying to again following your video's. Extremely Insightful. and look forward to many more. Best Wishes with your Business. Gods Blessings.
Great message.
This is wonderful, you will have my support!
Love your wisdom and down to earth manners. Is this really just a pipe smoking channel? I think not.
Well sir I have plans on visiting Kentucky with my family and extended family to see the Ark Encounter again and being a fairly new pipe smoker I would love to be able to visit The Pipe Cottage while on our visit seeing as my Brother is also a pipe and cigar smoker
cant wait to check out the store when its complete love the vids as a newer pipe smoker they are informative.
I don't need to hear what you have to say, but I sure enjoy listening. Can't wait for the B&M to open up. I'll be making a trip from North GA to Kentucky to visit it. Good day, Alan.
Mr. Allen you are without a doubt the most enjoyable person I’ve ever listen to you are very inspirational.
Thank you
In addition, I love the South and everything about its culture, so I see myself traveling up more often than just to visit family. I will be glad to support your shop in person and online. God bless you and your family.
Allen thank you for going on the offensive for the tradition of pipe smoking! Bravo! Expect my support!
Glad to hear you're opening up the store! Looking forward to it, and looking forward to support your endeavors through patronage.
I bought a hat, they are slick! Sounds like a road trip south is in order soon!
As a pipe smoker, your videos are a calming influence.
Excellent vid TPC. Thanks a lot. Have a great blessed week.
Thank you sir for your wisdom and common sense.
Most excellent channel Ive happened upon in many years. Just subscribed and look forward to ordering from your store..
I need to hear what you say, please don't stop. You are one of my role models. I am a 28 year old with out a father. Never had one. But I look up to men in my life in person and online. You are one of them.

Fabulous. Good luck with your new venture may the universe bless this venture with great success 🏴🙏❤️😀
Thank you Dr. Harrelson great video!
Thank you. Just discovered your page today. I needed to hear your message. Very encouraging to me at this time. Well done.
Hello Alan. Thank you for another excellent video. All the best.
Thanks for your time I wish good luck to you and yours on your up coming Business ventures.

It sounds like you have discovered the current invasive nature of the internet and have grown in your individual sovereignty.
When I was a younger man, I did not realize that others, and the internet by extension, could be such an intrusive malevolent force.
Wonderful. Thank you
Very well said. I tried to find on your site and couldn't find what you are selling. Keep up the good work.

Thank you Mr Harrelson for continuing your pipe cottage video
Content, I am learning a lot about life & pipe smoking, thank you
Thank you I appreciate your content in your videos and always look forward to what’s next
We appreciate you, Sir! So glad to hear the good news about your brick and mortar store; I believe your venture(s) will be blessed!
What a topic and thank you - privacy. Probably the most important thing we have. We've just got to educate our children.
Great video. I took a lot of what you said to heart. There’s much to contemplate here.
Very well said glad I found this channel
Great words of wisdom

Ale 8 is the best! Thanks Alan for this needed video, even among the YTPC
Great advice and video as always. Bless you friend.
Keep up good work Mr. Harrelson.
We have Vernor's in Michigan which I've always loved, I'll have to grab some Ale 8 when I'm down in Kentucky.
You talk a lot of common sense. Another enjoyable video. All the best from rural South Australia.
Just purchased a hat and a CAPMD mug! Here’s to the continued and future success of The Pipe Cottage 🎉
Beautiful pipe! Keep up the great work!
I appreciate your videos please keep making them we need more outspoken morality in this old world today
Thank's for this one, well said.
Thank you for your efforts in sharing your videos…as a cigar smoker that has moved to the pipe, I find your videos highly informative…more importantly I enjoy the shared wisdom and philosophy…I wish you every success in your endeavors…God Bless

So glad to hear that brick and mortar dream and goal is back in the fight. God bless you brother and keep the truth coming.
Thank you for a wonderful video, I look forward to buying from your online shop.
Happy new year 🎉

Silence is golden ✨️
Greetings from south africa 🇿🇦
Another great video. Much to ponder on. Congratulations on the return of your shop.
As I grow older I find myself less and less likely to share my life online. I don't do it. Not because of anything nefarious of course, but it's no one's business. I lurk on my social media accounts and on occasion common if I find I have something to say. As much as I love the info provided by the web I find it's been more of a curse than a blessing.
I appreciate you taking the time to make videos for all us to enjoy. I will definitely check out the online store.
I absolutely love listening to you and your topics. I myself stay off to my self and dont go around many people. You are right somethings needs to be yours and yours alone. Please continue to put these videos out .
Just enjoyed some Pease Quiet Nights in a meer at my local b&m here in New Jersey. Best of luck with the new shop!
Another wonderful video!
Glad to have you in the state. Glad you’ve become a fellow connoisseur of the one and only Ale8one
