I got the black first years ago then ask for the entire set for Christmas this past year. This was after seeing you use them for everything. I love them. They are my favorite. I would recommend the same rainbow as you except I would add the pink from the start. I love you! Thanks for all you do!
Lovely to see an Antipodean review! All the northern hemisphere lot focus on altenew and ranger!
Happy to provide it:)
You were the one who convinced me that these pigment inks would suit me better than "regular" pigment inks...and I do love them! One thing that shows we all have different ideas - When you said that there is only one red (Tulip) I consider "Glamorous" to be a beautiful cool tone red, (I actually use this red way more ) often than the Tulip, which is more warm tone.} It did take me awhile to collect the ones I wanted, but for those in the US like me, I found that Craft Stash US has a much better price on these inks than any US online store!. My favorite colors will always be the beautiful brown tones (always a Tim Holtz distress/grunge girl, lol). My very first pad was "Fallen Leaves" and then I added "Acorn" and "Pinecone"...and I use them ALL!! God bless...LOVE your videos! I never miss even one!
I'm looking into this Glamourous colour, perhaps i'll put it on my christmas wish list for the hubby. I love a different opinion, I think that's how we learn things too! It's best to search around for the good prices isn't it, as they certainly are expensive! Thank you for all of your loving support! Glad you enjoy the videos! :)
Thanks, now I don't have to browse the internet to find a decent price! 😁
Krafter's Cart sells the cheapest Versafine + re-inkers in NZ
I absolutely agree with your assessment of VersaFine inks! I feel that their clarity and versatility are unmatched. I've been using VersaFine for 25 years. Of the original VersaFine that I use A LOT is Imperial Purple; I use as an alternative to Onyx Black when I want a softer effect. (P S. I love the older style hinged pads 😁). I store them upside down for the ones I use constantly. For all my ink pads, I store them upside down in an airtight plastic container (Tupperware, actually 😊). I have had some pads since when I started 25 years ago and they are still going strong because I store them this way. (And yes, I finally figured that I needed an index of the inks inside the containers.) Thank you for helping newbies make an informed choice!
Yes, they are lasting forever, whatever they make the actual pad of the ink out of, is holding up very well for the test of time! I've only had mine around 7 or so years, but I'm incredibly impressed!
I learned stamping with pigment inks. The color box inks were beautiful. Color box inks were made by clearsnap and they closed long ago. I’ve always wondered why and how dye inks got to be so popular. The pigment inks have so many benefits over dye including light fastness and longevity of project. It’s nice to see someone using pigment ink again
While I am not in the market for more inks I found ypur video informative and helpful for future use. Thank you. I love your channel to bits! It is in my top 5 or maybe three!
I have gradually got more of these inks and love them. I have found that if you use silicone stamps, like the ones given free with magazines, they stamp a lot better. Thank you for a very helpful video.
So true these perform exceptionally well; great inky review… thank you!! 🤩😃👍🏾
The most magic part-you can heat emboss 5 to about 7 minutes after you stamp when the ink feels dry! Maybe less time in a very dry climate, but try it!
I love the Versafine Clair Nocturne which is black. My go to.
My all-time favorite inks!!! I actually have the FULL range with all the reinkers and am so, so happy I made the investment (a few at a time). I use every color! I’m curious as to why you’ve stayed with the original Versafine Onyx black instead of switching to the Clair Nocturne??? IMHO, the Nocturne is a definite upgrade - dries faster and very crisp images. Anyway, if these inks played well with alcohol markers they’d be perfect, and would be the only inks I’d own.
Good to know - thanks... I was wondering what the difference was and if I should add Nocturne
@@crazyhappyhomelife1721 I do have both, but still prefer the older Versafine for stamping sentiments and fine-lined images. IMHO I do think it stamps a crisper line.
I have both and have never thought to use Nocturne for my sentiments - not sure why but will use it for my next project. Thanks.
I love this ink! They are absolutely my all time favorites. I have a very limited stash now but intend to get them all as I save up for my frivolous desires. Love your video showing the possibilities to achieve different applications. Thank you for being my all time go to artist.
The first one, aside from Versafine Onyx, was Nocturne as it was suggested use with watercolors. After watching your video where you stamped multiple butterflies using masking magic, I purchased Medieval Blue and Golden Meadow ☺️. I have a total of 8 which includes Morning Mist and Pinecone. I plan to purchase Cheerful, Green Oasis and Monarch. Thanks so much for the video, totally appreciate you doing this.
I love these too. I learned to use them watching the Lavinia videos. Great for blending over a watercolour background, making vignettes, using with stencils and stamping silhouettes, as you say, so versatile. You can also use them on you gel plate, reverse stamp. The only thing you can't do is stamp on Yupo. I think I got the summer breeze one early on, as it's my favourite colour, and they tend to use that one a lot in the tutorials I watch, as well as every single one of yours of course! Then I do like the browns, there's a really dark brown, and a blue that I use when black is too harsh. I'm always seeing incorrect charts going round craft groups that say you can't use this ink for blending and you can't get re-inkers, so really glad you have made this video! ❤
Yes I also discovered them from Lavinia Stamps videos. They used them before they brought out their own dye inks. I like the Versafine clair much better. Twilight was the colour that caught my eye so dark blue nearly black. Lavinia Stamps used it to outline landscapes -hills grassy banks and shadows around moons. I love all the colours and hope to get a few more when my birthday comes along. Thanks for the informative video 💕
5 star review ☆☆☆☆☆.
Thank you so much for a comprehensive review of these. I have a couple and didn't know there were so many colors, or that I could heat emboss with them. 💜💜💜
Warm Breeze and Twilight are my faves. For greens, I love Shady Lane. They are so great for detail or solid stamping.
I’m one of those with full set syndrome. I had to get from several different places as not everyone carries all the colors. I agree with you about the solid and detail stamping. I love the bright color I get with them. I don’t think I have the reinkers yet.
That's ok if you are a full set person, I think that means you're super lucky! and given there are not tooooo many in this whole set, then that's a bonus!
Thanks so much for this. It’s really useful, especially if you are on a tight budget. I’d love it if you did a similar one for Distress Oxides inks as well if you have the time. I find these really difficult to choose from as there are so many colours and similar shades😊
There is already one of these videos done for distress oxides! So now you don't even have to wait for it :)
Brilliant and timely video for me as I've been thinking about getting some of these for a while. Thankyou
So many lovely colours……I love Shady lane ( green) and also Glamorous, Twilight and Chianti….use those colours a lot 🥰🥰
Very nice review. Thank you. I'm 68 and have more supplies than I could use for the rest of my life. I use Memento inks. They are less expensive and have certainly served me well and they don't stain my stamps, which is what I love about them, along with their stamping performance.
I only have4 but love them. Great ideas. Thankyou very much for sharing once again. Take care and stay safe.
I've got the black one too. Great informative video. Will definitely be purchasing some of these.
I picked these up after watching you use them and YES I LOVE THEM.
I need to buy myself some of these I get so carried away with collecting all of one thing then realise I needed some of each type really and have to collect whole other sets. I’ve collected distress oxides and water reactive from spectrum noir and I got a load of the tear drop dye inks that really were not nearly as good as I expected them to be. Now I want full size and need to start with a pigment ink selection for those vibrant colours
Don't remember where I learned about the Onyx Black, but bought It to yet again try to find an ink that would stamp words clearer without having to stamp over and over. Even with a stamp platform, I'd have to repeat stamp. So frustrating. WOW! What a difference!! It is now my only choice for all words, sentiments, outlines, you name it. Except as someone mentioned if you want to use alcohol inks. I have recommended this to all my stamping friends. I love your videos. So informative and fun!!
Very thorough review of VersaFine Clair inks, thank you Natasha. Besides Black Onyx, I only have dye inks. I'll be sure to use this reference when I'm ready to pick up a few of these to try.🌷🌷
Hi, I have just started purchasing these ink’s and I agree for stamping they are amazing.
Great video explaining these inks & showing the colors. I only have a few but I use the Ox
The first colors you suggested were exactly what I bought first. And I agree with you that warm breeze is gorgeous! 8-)
I have the whole series and they are absolutely fantastic ! They do stay “wet” long enough so that you can do embossing with it, even after they feel dry to the touch… very handy and versatile set, with gorgeous colors.
I've had my black versafine ink pad. For at least 10 years, and may have reinked 2 or or maybe three times. that's pretty good and I use it a lot.😆
I just went to scrapbook to see about ink pads.
A bunch were out of stock,🙁 will go back and check more to see what I can get. Want to write down the colors you use. I believe they are colors I would of chosen too. Thanks for sharing as always.. and thanks for swatching the pads out to have a color chart . It's a great idea and help to see the colors ..have a great note and tomorrow.
Thanks for the review and for swatching! I haven’t yet invested in a good range of pigment inks, but I have my eye on these. From this line of course I have the onyx black (my go-to), but I also have Morning Mist for a nice gray. Eventually I will add to the collection. 😊
I wish I would have come across your channel before investing in inks. I made the mistake of purchasing whatever ink of the video I was watching. Then shortly after coming across your video and realizing that not all inks are the same. I do enjoy Simon Hurley inks. I have a hand full of these ink pads. Don't have any re-inkers. But like you said Natasha, they seem to have a lot of ink in the pads. Thank you for making this video. I have pinned it for my upcoming birthday wishlist. 🤣
I absolutely love these ink and highly recommend them too. I have all the colors you have but the other blues. They are on my wishlist. I use the Nocturn black instead of the versafine onyx black. Crisp clean stamping everytime.
Thanks for sharing this. I just started collecting Versafine Clair inks. I hope to have them all by the end of this year! Goals! 😄
Hi Natasha 🙂 awesome techniques, thank you for sharing 💞💐
Very informative and thankyou for filming and sharing Natasha
Hi Natasha, I got my first colors in Versafine Clair. Paradise blue, Glamourous pink, Morning Mist gray. I already have full set of inkpads and refills from Stampin Up. I am getting these colors for outline and solid silhouette stamping for when I want crisp edges. So probably will not buy more. I love Versafine Onyx Black and have been using that for 15 years. Thanks for your demo of these inkpads. It helped me choose this brand of inkpads for what I needed. Cheers.
Great review. I lived the order you showed the colors, then the swatches. I'll test the pads I currently own against the performance you've shown. Solid stamps are a real challenge for the ink pads I currently have.
Thank you for this video Natasha!! So helpful & one I’ve wanted to see on your channel as I trust your opinion!!
I now have the whole series, I absolutely love these, would recommend these. X
Very informative video Tash. These inks are the best pigment pads I have tried and use them often.
This was such a perfect video. My hubby is buying me the Versafine inks next month (working some overtime bless him) I'm in Northern Ireland just outside Belfast. I have found a website that is selling 2 sets of 13 pads for £55.00, so £110 for all 24. Which I think is a total bargain. Just can't find anywhere in UK that sells the reinkers.... But just another shout out to Natasha. You absolutely rock. Ur my fave card making TH-camr by far 💜💚💜 xo
You are very smart to start with the primary colors, and add to them as you can. I finally have the full set, but I did purchase them 1 or 2 at a time, until it was complete. I love these inks. They are beautiful colors, and stamp so clear. I do need to start getting the re-inkers, but no hurry for now. I would definitely recommend these VersaFine Clairs also. They are fantastic.
Whenever I want to stamp one-and-done, these are the inks I reach for. Clean and crisp every single time. Love them!
I love these inks so much. Just need to invest in the reinkers now
Oh man, I have 14 of these, some with reinkers, and now I see I NEED some other colors you recommended that I don't have. and all the reinkers, too.
I love these, my favorite of all the scads of ink pads I've tried. These and Tim Holtz Distress Oxides are my favorites.
My first colors were Nocturne, Chianti, Fantasia and Medieval Blue. I got dark colors to use for word/sentiment stamps, then got more colors because I liked them so much. I can see why anyone would want all of them, they're pretty fantastic. And for a while they were hard to find, but I see now they're available again, in many places. The price went up, but hey, at least you can get them again.
Glamorous is a nice dark pink, like the next step from the Tulip for reds. IMHO
Thank you for your review!
I really like these inks. Two of my favorites are ones you didn’t even mention, Glamorous, which is a great Christmas red color and Shady Lane, a green in between green oasis and Rain Forest. I also love Warm Breeze and Twilight.
Thank you for this video. I have 7 of these ink pads and often use them with clear embossing powder.
I started with the Versafine Clair Nocturne for my black sentiments. Truly the best. Then I purchased the rainbow colors and didn’t go with the lighter/darker as I can just stamp off or double stamp to get a different color. I love when you use these in a video as it reminds me to USE MINE!!!
I have loved this ink as my favorite forever! But only ever got black. About 2 months ago I almost bought every one of them! Buddlycrafts has the absolute BEST price on these ! I found them for I believe $5.38 each if you buy all of them. The more you buy the cheaper they are. The CS is very helpful. I still want to get these but am working on CP right now.
The onyx black , warm breeze , tulip red , nocturne , pinecone , falling leaves , paradise , blue belle , charming pink , glamorous, morning mist , green Oasis , shady lane , verdant , rain forest , is the ones I have at the moment and actually about look and see if the summertime , cheerful , monarch , purple delight, and golden meadow are available for me to purchase as well as the ReInker for at least the onyx black , bc I use it all the time. These are my favorite inks besides distress oxide inks , but I am also just getting started making cards and still trying to purchase the things I need and have been trying to get everything I need to make the cards with the supplies that I like for almost a year now . The prices of things has shot way out the roof and it makes it hard to get the stuff you need all at once 😭 , so I get some here , some there , whenever I can . Thank you for sharing this with us today my sweet friend 🙂
I'm a total newbie; and the first 4 ink stamps I got were Versafine Clair - Blue Bells Blue, Verdant Green, Warm Breeze and Charming Pink. Took me ages to decide which ones and even then was unsure of what I was doing. Lashed out and got some tiny little ones (Versacolor) in Cardinal Red, Copper and Atlantic Blue. Not sure whether they will be good value, but presumably they will have re-inking options. Back of the stamp they state they are waterbased pigment ink, and I've not experimented much yet. This video was very helpful. Then I got two additional ones because metallic effects; Delicata pigment inks in Golden Glitz and Silvery Shimmer (effects not requiring embossing because I don't know anything about that at all! total newbie) so I opted for these to avoid complicating matters. Problem was, there were so many differing types, and I really didn't know enough to ask anyone the right questions. This video helped me understand much better how to work with them, and I'm saving up for some in the orange color range now...gorgeous. Who am I kidding? I will get them all! Eventually.
Natasha, Thank you so much for this little review/opinion of these inks from your perspective and for some of the techniques they are good for. I need to make sure I have some good stamping inks. I’ll have to see what I can get now and slowly build my collection. ❤️🤗
Very informative video especially for newbies who haven’t got enough info to make that decision about what basics to purchase and how adaptable they'll be, thanks for sharing Tash 👏🏼🤗
These are my go-to inks for sentiment stamping so have the black, twilight (dark navy), and sepia. I think I will add a gray next before diving in to the pretty colors.
I've had the Verafine Onyx black inkpad for at least 15 years! Its never needed reinking either. I squished it once which made the felt(?) top to partially come off,so I just sellotaped it back on to keep using it. The coloured inkpads are rather expensive but I've bought four so far. Thanks for this very helpful video Tash.xx
I have used the black for years as my favorite and just recently bought some colors. I love all the colors I have bought! Thank you for showing all you can do with them!
These are by far my favorite inks. I only keep these on my work table because I use then every day.
Hi Natasha. The Versafine inks are my absolute favourites inks, with warm breeze my ultimate favourite colour. I fully agree with your recommendation to purchase the rainbow colours, as you suggested, if one is starting out. Excellent video and recommendations as always. Thanks for all you do for the carding community. Keep well. God bless. 🌈💙🤗🦋
Natasha, thank you for this video. I was one (probably among many) who requested you do this type of video with the pigment inks (you did such a great job with the distress oxide one!).
CONGRATULATIONS!! on going over 80K!! I’m SO very excited for you!!! Truly appreciate you and your videos (along with your little helpers!) 😊💕
Love these inks and wish I had them all. Have had the black for about 20 years. Love the warm breeze!
I have the Onyx black, after seeing you work with it many times. I have other inks, not many re-inkers though. Not very happy with those either. So the Versafine Claire is going on my wishlist. I just hope that the yellows are nice and bright, not beige-ish or ochre. Thanks👍
I love the blues as that is my favorite color!! L also have pink purple green yellow and red!! I do enjoy using them!!
I have been wanting to invest in some if these inks (I do have the black) but I was not sure where to start. So thank you so much. ♥️
I'm so glad you did this video. I really use these ink pads more than any others that I own. They give you such a crisp image and I can't say enough about them. I have a lot of them from the old days when they have the flip lids like you showed earlier. All I had to do is buy a reinker. But thanks again I love your videos!!!
Thanks so much for this video… it was really helpful to have you break it down into a few different stages… like the first six colors you might recommend. I have the Onyx Black color (and love it) and would like to save up for a few more. It was amazing to see you stamp that solid image on the first go without a stamping platform. WOW… the coverage is gorgeous. I’m grateful for your opinion on these inks. 💙
Thanks Natasha for this video. I'm so glad you posted this, it will help me choose my starter set. I've seen you use these pads, and they do stamp beautifully!! ❤️🐝❤️
My faves have to be Charming Pink,Purple Paradise and warm breeze-those were my first.I do have quite a few now and I love them x
Thank you Natasha, it helps to see how you use these inks. I have the black as I like it heat set it as you do.
Thank you for explaining all that information about ink. It is hard for us to know what to buy at first so your advice is invaluable. Thank you Natasha 😊 x
Natasha, this was very helpful. Thank you. I also love these inks.
Love this video. I have two of the versaFine Clair inks and one memento tuxedo black. Thank you for sharing.
BRILLIANT video!
Glad you found it good, it's so hard to know what to include!!
My favorite ink. They are so versatile.
I appreciate you sharing your favorites. I have been considering buying a set of these and would be choosey about colors. Always good to have an expert opinion! Thank you.
I really appreciate this video. I plan to get a few.
I have about 12 of these and love them! For black, though, I prefer VFC Nocturne. I think it gives crisper results than the Onyx Black.
Eek, I had thought that I didn't need both as they were fairly similar, but all these comments are making me think different! lol
I got them all recently and I use them for everything, Stamping sentiments, Ink blending and so much more. Definitely Inks I'd recommend. 😁
Thanks for sharing! Would you be willing to create a video on your favorites from the Simon Hurley line, please?
Very helpful review, Natasha. I love the vibrancy of the colors and how well they stamp and emboss with clear embossing powder. 😀
I bought the black versafine because of your constant use of it and recommendation, but also because the other black ink pads I have are just lackluster. I couldn’t resist Warm Breeze either so I bought it at the same time.
Hopefully you are loving the Onyx black then? Giving you better results? The warm breeze is gorgeous!
Thank you Natasha, I value your opinion…I have some of the old versafine ink pads….recently bought the black versafine Clair ink pad….they are a nice product.
TFS. I like the vibrancy of the colours. What is your favourite WHITE pigment ink to use under them on dark cardstock?
I am a still a fan of Hero Arts 'unicorn' white pigment ink :)
@@NatashaFooteCreative thanks for that. I like that brand as well.
I have literally just ordered all of the inks apart from fallen leaves through your link, I look forward to trying them! Shoot I am going to need more finger daubers! 😂😂😂😂
Thank you for using my links - much appreciated! I hope you love them as much as I do!
@@NatashaFooteCreative I am looking forward to trying them, I haven’t used ink in years and it was mainly potted ink for writing and some simple images, I can’t do that anymore since a stroke. I am liking the distress oxides I bought (your link was used for those also), I bought 20 of them. Need another pink though I think?? I am obsessed at the moment! Love your channel, it is very soothing amongst other things and love seeing your little kiddos hands popping in the frame! 😃
Versafine Clair are definitely my favourite inks for stamping. I don’t have them all yet, but that’s mostly because they are not available at the moment. Thank you for explaining about the new Onyx Black pad still having the old photo as I really wanted to get the new one (like yours) but the old hinged style photo was scaring me off. I use my old one all the time, but I get frustrated by the hinged lid. I’m also trying to get a mini Onyx Black as I think it would be really handy for inking sentiments.
That was a very helpful video! I love seeing the different colors of beautiful inks! Do we need to use separate brushes and daubers than we use with our dye inks? I assume I do.
The two I think you're missing are Twilight and Chianti. I use these all the time for a blend/contrast effect, Chianti can be Red, Brown or Purple depending on what colour you use with it. Twilight is a must for softer black or darkest blue. I often use it for the detailed stamps I intend to colour in. It makes a real difference. Nocturne is a larger pad than onyx. Memento is the only pigment ink that won't bleed with alcohol markers and also made by Tsukinenko
I’m a Memento ink fan
Definitely second the addition of Twilight and Chianti. They are very versatile colors.
Congratulations Natasha on reaching 80k subscribers 🤗 Thank you so much for this very helpful and informative video - in my opinion, your opinion is invaluable! When I started making cards (after finding your channel) I purchased the versacolor ink cubes (great price and small). I don't make hundreds of cards and the ink has lasted about two years but I expect I will have to decide soon on the next inks to purchase - unfortunately its sometimes hard to justify the cost 🌻🌻
I recently bought the black on your recommendation. I was using the?Momentous black. The Momento has a lower price point but the versatile Clair does a better job. I'll be switching over to that brand as my budget allows. Thanks for the video. Very helpful!!
They are expensive (isn't everything these days :( ) but I think as you say, when budget allows, they do make for a good investment.
I too love the versa fine Clair inks. I have just not been able to find refills for aLl the ink pads I have.
I got 6 of these on sale, I love them thanks for ideas
Thank you so much for doing this video. You explain and teach things so well and I trust your opinion more because you aren't promoting a brand. I really love full image stamps but they require so much prep work before and during to get a good result. I tried the archival inks first and they do not perform too much differently than dye inks. I am going to purchase a set of these inks because I have the black and it's perfect, so to have it in a range of colours would be fabulous. I am just glad to know that I can blend them too.
I love that about Natasha too it’s really refreshing having someone who wants to save money and make good use of the items they buy without any Finacial prejudice trying to sell their own or a particular companies products. I’ve come to feel like 2/3 of my time in the craft community is watching people advertise items rather than true crafting anymore. No diss to those creators I do understand we all need to make a living but it just seems so much more about that these days. I’d love to see a load of content with real deep and dirty crafting going on, things like how to lay out cards to look best, how to use all the items we all buy and rarely use. Natasha has been great inspiration to me many times over. I have my favourite companies of course but I’d rather see them being used than advertised X
This struck a chord with me...I think you are exactly right. I struggle to find good vides that are more about the crafting than feeling like it is a rolling advertisement. As you say, I completely understand that this is many creators income and brands that they are promoting too. I prefer not to solely work with a brand, I've found it far too taxing and too restricting and decided early on my channel would be about crafting and just using whatever took my fancy or whatever I found worked the best for me.
@@NatashaFooteCreative This is why you have struck a chord with us, because this how (we) design and create. I don't know who really limits themselves to one company when making a project. Even when you choose colours of inks, it is how real people work. I don't have full sets of every brand, for money and storage reasons. When you show how to re-design a Woodware flower stamp with so many different techniques, that it allows the stamp to appear brand new. It is truly inspiring.I understand that this a livelihood for many but I just don't like it when it is a hidden in an infomercial. Thanks for your channel.
Thank you Natasha. I needed this review!
Glad it was helpful for you :)
I would add twilight, which I love for night skies. Otherwise great info!
Thank you Natasha!
Hi. I don't have any of the Clair inks at all. I have the onyx black and about half a dozen of the Versafine cubes and just four of the Versacraft cubes. I have been toying with the idea of purchasing some but I'm still just not sure enough yet. Plus the re-inkers for them don't seem to be all that readily available here in the UK so the jury is still out, even after thinking about them for the past couple of years.i managed to get the re-inker for the onyx black but that's it. I have a few water based inks ( Spectrum Noir Harmony) but there doesn't appear to be re-inkers for those either, nor for the dozen Docrafts pigment ink I have. To be fair, I do get on better with water colours and pencils than most other mediums so what do I know? Thank you for an enlightening look at these inks.
Thank you Tash 😘
Thank you for the review info - that was a quick turnaround 👏 Much appreciated!
