- I was doing this episode live from Charlotte and I was trying to figure out what was going on with the Nolan Siegel Mclaren deal while the show goes on so keep watching/listening and we eventually get the full story before it came out officially! haha. We also have a really good talk with the winner from Road America, Will Power! Really enjoyed Will Power's honesty about some technical details of the Indycar. It was great to see him get a win after waiting quite a while to add to his win total.
A bit of NASCAR news to chat about for me as well in this episode so tune in to see what is going on for me coming up here soon! We also preview the Laguna Seca race coming up this weekend on USA Network!
As always let us know what you think, dont forget to subscribe to the channel as well!

Kind of wild I see all these folks talking about what a prodigy Siegel is at 19 when Theo is literally just a year older than him and already won the F2 championship. Wish the best for Siegel but hope Theo can prove McLaren wrong
you have a very interesting point there.
Are there any updates to what actually happened with Theo? Has he made any statements? Conor in your opinion do you think another IndyCar team will pick him up or will he go back to Europe?
@@tweek218 I haven’t seen any statements. There are really no open seats right now so unless he pays Coyne to jump in one of those cars, there is nothing else out there. Coyne would be risky because there really isn’t any chance of results at the moment
Will Power this week, Scott Dixon previously. So good to see the older guys still bossing it. Great show again Conor. Love to see that you're back in racing again. Hopefully it will be Indycar again soon. 👍
Thank you!
Best indycar podcast for sure.
thank you!
Man, kudos to you for some great follow up questions and the back and forth with Will Power on his P2P idea and the tire strategy from last week. As “just” a fan, I love hearing two world class race car drivers really diving into details like that.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great episode and interview.
As one who graduated high school in the mid-90’s, hearing Will’s passion about Public Enemy’s music and becoming friends with Flavor Flav was definitely relatable. I also appreciate how Conor relates to blending the worlds of music and IndyCar. Congratulations and good luck on the ARCA race as well!
haha thank you!
Great show as always Conor. Really enjoyed the interview with Will and learned a few things. Wishing you all the best which ever series your racing in. Hope to see you in Iowa.
thank you!
Holy hell my 2 favorite drivers on the same episode! And my favorite indycar driver is gonna be in a arca car! This show keeps getting better and better! And conors career all the more badass!
Would love to see some retired or also currently not active drivers on the show. I really enjoy the questions you ask as another driver and questions chase asks as a more outside perspective of the fan base. Chase has a great insight as someone new to the sport also in love with it lol
Maybe in the off season or off weeks we’ll get some different drivers on the show !
Great insightful interview with Power.
I really enjoyed it as well!
I know they both have team commitments but I would love to see Dario and TK in the booth together. With Hinch trying to keep them under control.
I think that would be just a bit tooooo much personality haha
Incredible interview with Will. Very interesting breakdown! Hope Charlotte’s been treating you well
glad you liked it!
Agree, Will's an IndyCar Icon.
Great show today, and good luck on your new drives!
thank you!
IndyCar changed the definition of a superspeedway to a track longer than 1.4 miles, in order to define Nashville as a short oval (1.333 mi.). So, it looks like they will be using the short oval kits, as they did in recent testing according to the few images I've seen online.
yep, the short oval package definitely would work best I think.
I just want to get in here and claim some credit for Wills win here. I was at Road America this year and was deciding between buying Herta merch and Power merch. I went with the Power jersey and hat. He then wins the race, and Colton has a wild one. Step aside Flava Flav is all I’m saying haha
haha this is Will Power's new lucky charm
Great show, and great insights from Will.
This would be my ideal, realistic-ish Fox lineup:
*Booth*
-Allen Bestwick, Ryan Hunter-Reay, James Hinchcliffe
*Pits*
-Jamie Little, Kevin Lee, Matt Yocum
*Studio/Host Desk*
-Bob Varsha, Simon Pagenaud, Sam Hornish Jr.
*Tech studio/race control/Larry Mac equivalent*
-Jon Beekhuis
That is a lot of good names. We shall see who they end up with
Great show again Connor. Love the interview with Flava Will. You comments about who FOX will put in the booth, I'm gonna go crazy and say Dave Calbro, he announced his retirement yesterday from WTHR and maybe something is happening there. We'll see, FOX keeping all the races on network is a big bonus.
that is an interesting suggestion for sure! I dont hate it. Maybe even Dave in the pit lane?
The Fox deal will definitely help increase the fanbase and I look forward to seeing all races on network TV. My daughter-in-law has recently shown an interest in Indycar and has began watching races with me. She went to qualifications at Indianapolis with me this year and she's picked her favorite driver. She asked why his car color changed. I explained not all sponsors can afford to fund an entire season but some can sponsor individual races and the car color and driver suit change with sponsorship. She said its too hard for her to know what the car will look like from week to week and it wasn't fun if she couldn't easily pick out her driver. Fair enough. I wonder if other new or casual fans feel the same. Car numbers are impossible to read at speed and i can understand her point. I doubt there is a solution but maybe an element of the car could remain unchanged for identification. Great interview with Will. Love how honest he is and appreciate how he's always suggesting ways to improve the racing.
that's tough to hear but sadly that is the era we are in right now. It's incredibly difficult to find one sponsor to cover the whole season. Teams have to pay the bills somehow! Hopefully she can find another favorite car!
Hey, maybe Connor Daly will be a good idea for Fox to get to broadcast
haha, not quite yet but maybe in the future
It does seem like there needs to be an oval race before Indy - Charlotte/Phoenix/Miami.
Would love to see Miami doubt phoenix will come back they tried it not that long ago
Pocono!
Homestead I love, that would be awesome.
I think Miami would produce some really really good race but I'm afraid it's just too dangerous.
I kind of laughed when you referenced how Laguna Seca used to be the season ender. Because we have already had so much drama that it seems like a whole season has gone by and the seasno should be over and we aren't even halfway thru yet. Love all your analysis though.
Haha thank you!
Congratulations Connor, like to hear your talent not lost, your driving has been seriously good lately in my book...You need to understand your best is still ahead imo....I can't see what Theo was doing wrong at McClaren, actually I thought he was pretty fast for a rookie, heck!... also Will's just awesome! Innovative and a good thinker, should be retained by IndyCar when he retires from driving.
Scott McLachlin used to be my Favorite, but I think it's Will Power now, hard to split it!... but honestly Conor, and also Chase, you guys are doing something special on this Pod.
thank you!
Revenge arc for Theo
i could see it!
Will Power made some excellent points, and I hope someone in a position to do anything about the push-to-pass and doling out of penalties will think so. Much as I like Nolan Siegal, I worry he is getting thrown into the deep end a little too soon. Theo Pourchaire deserves better, too. I am looking forward to the ARCA race on Friday. I don't always watch, but I will make a point of doing so. I know you have skill, but I'll wish you luck. You're certainly due for some.
thank you for listening/watching!
"Back to F2?" - F2 champions are disallowed from further competition in the series.
I think Theo was out too soon, though I like Siegel. I also wonder about if they're moving Siegel up too fast.
it is going to be interesting story to follow that's for sure. It doesnt feel right overall
I watch all the practices and qualifying. I cannot get a network station here and streaming TV is not worth it to me to watch races. I have Peacock for Indy and the F1 app to watch the F1. I can watch the non netwprk NASCAR and IMSA. I have quit going to NASCAR races, but go to some Indy races and a couple F1 races in the US. I do think Indy Car oval racing in usually the best racing there is to take someone to their first race. I will be watching your ARCA debut. Sure would like to see you racing more.
Thank you. Still trying to do a bit more racing don’t worry
There needs to be a Flava Flav/Will Power cruise in the off-season, nightly Public Enemy concerts...
haha what a wild scene that would be
You start spending some time down here in NC hit me up for the best little places around the state to grab a bite at. I traveled all over the state for better than a decade. Arca is super aggressive this year. (it always is mid pack tbh) Go get some.
we hope to stay ahead of the dumb stuff hah
I like Nolan and wish him the best but I was not happy to hear he replaced Theo. I mean Mclaren didn’t even let Theo finish the season and he pulled out of super formula to race Indycar. That is brutal. Theo deserved to be treated better.
yeah i still dont really get it. I mean in the end, money talks so we always have to remember that. This sport is ruthless
Has to be a money thing. I believe Theo was highly rated not only with his talent, but also within the team.
@@joshherman4214 I mean the history of what Theo has done in his career so far is definitely strong. It isn’t easy to win the F2 championship! So it’ll be interesting for sure to see what happens.
Nolan won't last long at McLaren. Maybe not even to the end of this season. Porch Chair is better than him.
Great show as always Conor. 🏁
thank you!
Zak Brown is business savvy and all the drivers he's gone for- Lando, Piastri, Danny Ric, Palou, Ilott, Porchaire, Rossi, Pato- have a laundry list of accolades and are incredibly marketable. It strikes me as odd that Zak would ax Theo, an F2 champion and the kind of driver that he seems to enjoy collecting, without some kind of masterplan for the team as a whole.
well I certainly look forward to seeing how the plan plays out haha
Are you going to be running the Indy 8 Hour in your SRO races?
yep, we announced that a few months ago.
My crazy theory about AM: Rossi has signed with Prema. AM didn't want two seats without a long-term contract. TP can't sign because of his F1 deal. Part of the Siegel deal was to put him in the seat now. TP is getting paid and may even be back in the 3rd car next year if nothing breaks for him in F1. I think circumstances pushed him out, not performance.
those are definitely some interesting thoughts. I dont exactly know how much of that could play out but I guess we'll see!
@@ConorDaly22 Not to pat myself on the back but imma pat myself on the back for this call even though we don't know where or if Rossi signed anywhere yet. I'm claiming a W anyway.
@@_DriveTime well I know for a fact he hasn’t signed with PREMA because I spoke with him last week quite a lot 😂 but he has options!
Do you think McLaren’s performance as a whole is part of the reason they have been so indecisive with the No. 6 car? If Pato and Rossi were winning races (I know Pato technically one St. Pete) do you think they’d be more willing to give a guy like Theo time to develop?
It’s an interesting one. I would have certainly expected them to be winning more races
Think Wills comments about P2P would actually be very interesting and I personally would love to see this tested at some point..
As for the Théo news, I think it’s a bit wild.. Siegel is a great kid and a good driver, but idk if he has done anything to warrant a “top” ride right away.. Théo is already a proven winner and has had some solid results in his short IndyCar career already. I attended an event for work where Théo and TK came and spoke to us and it is interesting looking back as TK commented about how they were looking forward to working with Théo the rest of the year and now that has obviously changed.. Money talks yes but kinda weird coming from a team who said they had too many sponsors so they did that commercial alliance with JHR.. Guess they overestimated their finances? Idk just an odd situation and I’m gutted for Théo who dropped his whole life to come to the states only to get shafted.
Also good luck with your rides Conor! It was an absolute pleasure getting to talk to you in the garage area during May and I really appreciate you sticking out in the rain for a sec to chat! Thank you for the Speed Street sticker as well.
Yeah I think all of this is part of the discussion where we are all sort of just sitting here thinking there has to be more to the story.
thank you! hah no prob. we need more stickers for sure
My main complaint with the Fox deal is no more Leigh Diffey 😢
That is a shame for sure
That's a good thing to me. I wish it were Bell, Hinch, and Paul Tracy.
I'd like to see something out of the blue- like... Conor Daly is the new Haas F1 driver!!!
haha, no chance
@@ConorDaly22 You'd have more points than Zhou or Sarge at the end of the season...
Love Will. zach taking the heat off roger (marketing indycar support) and JHC/Canapino. zach's MO is messing with our HEROs(not just people). This is good for palou
a wild situation all across the board this year.
Laguna is one of my favorite tracks and it won't be on NBC. It seems pretty silly to me that it won't be on NBC. It's one of the best road tracks; along with with Road America and The Glen.
sadly we dont really have a choice on which events get on NBC and which dont! I know it doesnt really make sense but we dont have the power to demand every race on NBC this year. which is why we move to FOX for all races next year!
@@ConorDaly22 Yep. It's probably , this time, because they want to have Olympics time trials - which would do better on USA than Indy Car.
👽👽👽👽medival torture museum chicago👽👽👽👽
Do you think Mclaren fired Theo because they think he is going to F1 next season and they want to get a early start with Nolan as a longterm driver?
It's possible for sure.
I really am not sure what is going to happen to be honest. I think that might be a stretch but who knows
GOAT
Love interviewing Power he's a great dude
@@ConorDaly22 thank you for this, Conor. Good luck at Mid-Ohio, by the way!
So maybe McLaren could get rid of that silly logo that looks like “Meow…”
lol does it?
What is the point of the other guy on this podcast if it is just Conor talking to himself and asking rhetorical questions
dude, no one is forcing you to listen lol if you dont like it go somewhere else I really dont care at all
Can we get flavor flav on the pod? May have to boycott and spread malicious rumors until we get this…
That would be hilarious 😂
Disagree with Will. Not sure I like the idea of a one way only P2P.
I’m not really sold on it either honestly
You're podcast and videos are my favorite there is. I don't think you're a good driver.
Can you give me a list of reasons why you don’t think I can drive?
