- Taylor informs the crowd that in chorus the only song she liked was "Fire and Rain" by James Taylor. She then finds out from her mother that she was named after James Taylor. Taylor and James sing "Fire and Rain" and then James stays on stage and plays guitar while Taylor sings "Fifteen"

watching this video made me start crying because just think: how happy she must have been in that moment...to sit side by side and play with the man you're named after...wow. Nobody deserves this happiness and recognition more than Taylor. I have met her and she's the most fantastic, sweet, kind person you could ever meet in your entire life. She is so incredible and I am so happy she got this moment. Long Live Taylor (both of them) : )

I think the coolest thing about Taylor Swift is probably the way she introduces really amazing music like this to fans who may have never come across it on their own. James Taylor, Better Than Ezra, Tom Petty, David Mead, and the list goes on. It's really awesome the way she can expand her fans' taste in music.
FACTS. I’ve learned about James Taylor and Carole King and Joni Mitchell because of her. Not to mention all the new and smaller artists a lot of us came to know because of her.

During 1970 that song was very popular, and described completely the experience and confusion of the Vietnam war. I was 16 then, and seeing the newscasts of Napalm runs, public executions, burning Monks, running children with their skin burned off etc, was difficult.
Taylor's dad rightly said that James Taylor helped "get them through it".

James Taylor is one of the greatest singer/songwriters of the last 40 years. He writes both music and lyrics (without the help of 20 co-writers), fantastic acoustic guitar player and has one of the most beautiful & distinctive voices out there. Taylor S must have been in heaven to have the opportunity to perform with him. (Just like Zach Brown was) It shows a lot about Taylor S that she appreciates and respects the great artists that paved the way for her. Very nice video--thanks 4 posting!

Although I miss her country music and her beautiful curly hair, I love her and think she's super talented. The James Taylor duet was so beautiful.

Last summer in Wales I actually got to meet James Taylor. He is one of the most kind hearted people you could imagine. He even signed the set list I stole from the stage and spent over an hour meeting his fans, signing and having photos taken.
As for Taylor Swift I know very little about her but she seems to be a very talented decent person.

I flew from England to go and see the last two New York shows, and on the second night we got chosen to be moved to the front row by one of Taylors people as an alternative for T-Party as there wasn't one that night. I still can't believe i got to be front row in Madison Square Garden for this song!
Imagine being in Taylor's band but gushing over her guest... it must be enchanting for all of them (and Swift too) that night, performing next to their musical hero

When I watched this performance, I was convinced that I knew this song but I had no idea how, because I don't usually listen to James Taylor music (that's changed!) but I realised it was the song from Remember the Titans when Gary gets hit by the truck and that's why this song is so bittersweet for me. My favourite singer singing a song from mt favourite scene in my favourite movie!

@dwright230 Dude. Taylor Swift doesn't write songs just for 12 years. A lot of her fans are different ages. I'm 23 and I think Taylor is amazing. But it's not her songwriting, guitar or vocal skills that mesmerize me. It's her energy and love for her fans. She's genuinely an emphatic person and I think that's the best quality any human being can have.
She writes of things EVERY girl goes through and she does so in an honest and raw manner, and wraps it up in a fun show. What's not to love?

As a loyal fan of Taylor (both of them, but Swift in this case), I have never been more proud than I am at this moment. To have the opportunity to share a stage with one of the greatest songwriters ever for one of his greatest songs is nothing short of magical. As far as I'm concerned, all criticism of Taylor as an artist can end here. She has completely arrived as of now (if she hadn't already). Congratulations Taylor

Sure would be nice to actually hear them perform. I've never been to a concert where the audience didn't immediately grow respectfully quiet during a performance, saving noise for after/between songs and when the artist/s encouraged it. And I've been to all kinds of rock concerts. This must be what it is like when the audience is full of preteen and teeny-bopper girls!

I saw James Talor in concert in Montreux Switzerland at the annual Jazz fest and Eagle Eye Cherry was his warm up, how cool is that?
LOL I am a 42 yr old male and I may have also cried a little... I blame James Taylor ;-p I grew up with his songs and to see a young artist appreciate the gift he gave us touched me deeply. To see that he touched her...that's when I may, or my not, have cried....a little.... ;-P
