      @BBenoist Thank you so much. I literally just finished, and just as you said, these expectations on questions surfaced. It was a deep dive into my mindset on how I handle tasks, a team, communicate, and my story. I kept it simple yet energetic. I hope for the best from here and have joyful expectations.

    Great tips here! This kind of interview can be intimidating, but knowing the perspective of the effort it took them to pull the team together for it is a good assurance that they're already serious about hiring you.

    This is incredibly helpful. I’m preparing for a meeting tomorrow, and the most surprising part is that I didn’t even apply for a job. One of the firm’s partners reached out to me directly, inviting me to meet with him and his team to discuss their plans and explore potential collaboration. Hearing you say that this kind of approach isn’t so common makes me feel very privileged and grateful, especially since we're meeting in person and he mentioned it should take 30-45 minutes.
    I’m feeling a bit nervous, but your tips are extremely useful. Thank you! 😊

    thank you so much for this. I am not sure what to expect and I have had a habit of rambling on, so this helps as far as my delivery. I may have overprepared too (like i did with the first interview) because its a career that will be new to me so I am anxious. I just want to land the role and perform well.

      @@BBenoist I wasn't confident how it went but the dynamic was spot on what you mentioned here. 3 of the team members kept it pretty conversational i figured t get a feel of my work skill and how i fit with them. There was one who I suspected was going to give me grief cos she has a strong legal background from my research . Sure enough she dove deep into many technicalities to where at some point i got nervous, But i kept reverting to smiling and diverting the energy even if I may have been rambling. I also had some thoughtful specific technical questions for her which i suspect may have got her impressed cos she cracked a smile . Well something worked out because I'm now onto the final interview with the Director:)

    I personally don’t understand the reason employers do this. At my last job when my manager completed her interview she called in the team to interview the candidate and just so happened I knew the person from a prior job and as we all all were speaking to her I got the feeling that my coworkers were being mean asking unnecessary questions bc they knew we knew each other. When we completed the interview my manager asked what we thought no one said anything except for me I let my manager know that I worked with her in the past and she’s an excellent employee, again none of my teammates said anything so my manager said just email me your thoughts. Although she got the job I’m sure they didn’t give her a good review. At that time I was only at the job for a couple of months but in time I realized they were a group of very petty ladies and they could have caused my friend to lose out on an opportunity. There is no reason for me to meet with team members who may be going through things with the job or they just have their own agenda and it’s a good way to sabotage the candidate.

    • @BBenoist

      It sounds like it was a frustrating situation. It’s unfortunate when team dynamics can overshadow a candidate's qualifications.

    What are your thoughts on why a company might have a candidate meet the team in an interview *before* meeting with the hiring manager?

    • @BBenoist
      @BBenoist  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have not heard of this happening from any of my clients, so I can only guess why. My first thought is it is not a company practice, but rather a manager's practice. Maybe the manager is overwhelmed and delegating this first interview. Whatever the reason, I would treat the interview the same as what I discuss in the video - keeping in mind these would be team mates. One thing I would check on in this case would be the reviews on Glassdoor. It's either a solid company with a seasoned staff or a company in chaos. Good luck with this if it's actually something you are facing.

    As a hiring manager, can you ever be turn down after a team interview? Do they have a major say if you join the company or not?

    • @BBenoist
      @BBenoist  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I am not sure I understand this question. If you are interviewing with the team you would ultimately be managing then my thought is the chance would be very slim (but anything is possible). However., if you are interviewing as an individual contributor and the team did not see you the same as the manager did - then yes, I could see that happening. With that said, there is also a caveat too. If the team is not a mature, well oiled team, then their opinion would not carry as much weight. It really is going to boil down to that specific manager. But as I said in my opening statement, these interviews are often (not always) held until the end because of the time and resources involved.
