    One of the things that baffles me about the videos in your home town is that there is always constant yelling. Are people chronically pissed in Baltimore, or is that just a primary means of communication?

    Dan & Co. should wear reflective vests & hard hats... people would think they worked for the City of Baltimore out on the streets. I've seen other URBEX'ers do it... then people really don't think much of it if your coming out of an abandoned building dressed like this..

    • @killsing01
      @killsing01 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really good idea Ava

    • @gusrtw20
      @gusrtw20 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Both good and bad idea. It makes sense the way you put it, but usually police will know or try to find out if there's work being done on a building, so they'll eventually go after them, and with a reflective vest on they're easier to spot. Basically what reflective vests were made for, and it's playing against them.
      Also, it they find out those are not real workers they will get suspicious and they'll get dense trying to get them to explain why they were trying to fool the police deliberately by disguising. They might even get in more trouble, or at least they'll have a harder time trying to explain that.

    • @annie_xo
      @annie_xo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      welertgus if they did wear reflective vests and hard hats while doing urban exploration and the police came, they could say they were wearing the hard hat because in these old, decaying buildings stuff can drop down on them from the ceiling. And the vests because it will help them see each other better in the dark.

    There's actually some interesting history to this building. It used to be the site of Royal Furniture from 1971 up until the late 1990s when they moved out. In October 1990 the vice president of the company was shot to death right across the street in a botched robbery. In fact I believe the parking lot where he got shot in front of is where you saw all the garbage at the beginning of the video. Years later there were two fires at the warehouse...one in April of 2017 and another one I believe in September of 2020.

    Love watching these, definitely the best explore vids out there. It's sad to say that mansion is now gone. Glad to see it got checked out beforehand. I bet long ago that was a stately looking place. I have pictures of some of the old neighborhoods from long ago and it's amazing how beautiful and well kept most of it was. Now hard to believe you're standing in the same spot photos were taken then.

      porridgesilt I totally get that and appreciate your comment, one of the main reasons for my idea of using a 360 camera was for observational purposes. For example, someone might spot something of significance that could have been missed and could post it for us to see, like a shadow of someone hiding in a corner close to Dan that he failed to spot, or maybe a unusual looking object amongst some debris.I understand it wouldn't work now because of excessive equipment and to be honest, Dans videos are incredible as they are.

      marykacyy I've seen a few 360 videos. So far the resolution is terrible. They look they are filmed in the lowest quality possible. I'm sure the next 360 generation cameras will look better

    Hey you made it back the the mansion behind the burned out cleaners. It's a beautiful building. The furniture looks like it's from the 1950s or 60s. So it's probably been empty for close to that long. Somebody could have a hell of a nice house, if they tore down the dilapidated storefronts in front and restored the inside of the mansion, and the grounds. Looking at the Google Streetview I see the original driveway for the mansion is still visible on the sidewalk on the Rosedale Street side. They just put cement over the top of it, when they built the store fronts.

    I've been inside 510 S Monroe St several times. I don't ever remember it being a YMCA. It was Royal Furniture's largest east coast showroom until the owner's son (Aaron Samuel Levenson) was shot 3 times and killed on 10/4/1990, while walking across the street to Shah Industrial Park at 600 S Monroe.
    He was on his way to file some receipts that he had in a zippered bag. 2 robbers shot and killed him, thinking the bag was full of money. The were eventually both located and charged, 1 was convicted, the other acquitted in 1991.
    Following that, the owner moved the showroom to a smaller warehouse in Catonsville and never looked back.
    The 510 S Monroe St showroom has been abandoned ever since and set on fire at least 3 times (that I know of).
    2 minor fires 4/21/17, 9/9/20 and a third major fire around 2010 that caused a majority of the east side (the side you entered) to collapse.
    Speaking of Shah Industrial Park, on 1/6/2001, the owner from Ellicot City set it on fire, 2 days before his multi-million dollar insurance policy was to expire. The ATF later ruled it arson, and the owner was charged with insurance fraud and numerous other charges by the US Attorney's Office.
    I've explored some of the remaining buildings but most of Shah Industrial Park has been demolished.

At the moment my phone has picked up a strange Launcher3 failing to load problem, so it may be a while before I can do that but when I do I will make a note to let you both know it is up. That mansion was probably an old estate house dating back before that area was annexed into Baltimore City. Could have been named the Walbrook, Windsor, or Rosedale Estate which was retained on one of the street names after the area was developed by the city around 1900.

    the mansion and YMCA look like solid structural brick its to bad the area they are in is in decline they could be easily fixed up. also if this was detroit there wouldnt be any steel ducts beams or copper plumbing and wiring, ect left in any of those places. the bad areas of Baltimore look like they still have a chance to be turned around before its turned into a "silent hill" like detroit.

    Good move, staying off those floors. Common sense doesn't need to prove anything to anybody. There's a story around here (SW NH) about a UEer who fell through the 3rd floor of an abandoned house, & pancaked all the way to the basement, so I wear my yellow streak proudly.
    Great opening shots, and the video segues from Google Earth to Dan Bell street view were awesome!
