(copy/paste of this reply for the other places the question was asked) The NB5 is a 2025 shoe and the Peg Plus is a 2024 model, which may (or may not) be updated in 2025. From a development standpoint the NB5 is probably 12=16 months ahead of the Peg Plus, which matters alot.
There won't be an update to the Pegasus Plus in 2025, not until 2026 at least. 2024 is the year of the refreshed Pegasus line up and 2025 is the year of the new Vomero line up (Vomero Plus and Vomero Premium will be released later in 2025).
Hm, as for the comment on these two being different generations; the Pegasus Plus came out August 2024, and the Novablast 5 is getting a global release 1 December 2024, just four months later. So I don't really see how they're from different generations.

I can't say would have equated the Novablast 1-4 to any of the Turbos or the Plus but when I think about it, I imagine my average pace in both would not be that different as often have used either for easy or steady runs. Personally the NB5 is going to have to feel radically different to the previous ones to feel would want to use it out of choice for anything faster than steady. That said these days I feel I need to roll out my best shoes just to do so LOL ! I think in Nike I would pick ZF6 over Peg Plus for sessions but largely for that reason - so far just feels a bit easier. And you keep hinting my long narrow feet won't like the NB5 fit and they never were that "comfortable" and the early ones. I think I would have to put these as 2024 shoes as looks like I will be able to buy a NB5 on 1st Dec and I only did my first run in a Peg Plus on 12th Aug although those late evening summery runs do seem ages ago already! BTW I did 5.8K as my first run in my 2nd pair of Peg Plus today. Might have "bottomed out" going any further LOL but just a run to mark my birthday with the same two digits. Now then what shoe will go for in 2 years time to move the decimal point to the right... Endorphin Speed 2 Runshield was my choice for the 55K 3 years ago. Oddly they now feel "low stack". Even I am getting "bad" for this "low" stuff nonsense.
The "model year" I use on the channel is Nov 1- Nov 1, anything that releases in Nov/Dec is a preview of the following year for the brand. I would never have compared the NB to a Turbo either...but the NB5 is different. FfBlastMax is a nice foam, with a big range. I'm not going to pick a NB5 for workouts...but the fact it CAN do them is impressive to me. My Peg41/Plus combo is still my preference...but if I was "away for the weekened" and had a workoput planned and only had a pair of NB5s with me I'd have no worries about getting the workout done. I also see high school and college track athletes picking the NB5 as their trainer in the spring, given how popular the Invincible 3 was in those circles. So the NB5 is going to be used in workouts this spring in many places. I have yet to "bottom out" in the Peg Plus...and I have some MANY hard kms in them... 🤷🏼♂️
I like the pegasus plus because it's one of the few performance trainers that isn't max cushion / plated. It's hard to believe that continually running in cushioned / plated shoes is beneficial to training.
I cannot find a pair of H2s here in Taiwan. Even the Brooks flagship doesn’t have them outside of one colorway and very small sizes. One of the Brooks reps here told me they only got under 500 pairs total for the country…. And that’s it. 🤷🏼♂️ I tried… But if I want a Glycerin Max or Ghost Max I can have that in any size and any colorway… 🤦🏼♂️
I love the peg plus for more tempo workouts and was dismayed by BITR review complaining the about the forefoot foam and being too thin. The outsole is a little questionable on wet surfaces though.
Agree… the Peg Plus is nearly and ideal workout shoe. It’s been my go to the past few months. Also, yes… you can run more than 5 miles in them without your feet blowing up…. Imagine that. 🤯 Agree… the outsole leaves a bit to be desired… but it does the job.
@@carr16k I think they were objective initially but as their events were heavily sponsored by the companies they review, it became heavily biased as you noted.
Yeah, Im one of the people who use the peg plus as a daily trainer... But I can definitely feel that its actually shines more in faster paces. At really slow paces it tends to get very unstable.
If they add a peg + in extra wide for next year like they have in many models now I'll absolutely give them a go, I need a decent none plated shoe geared for speedier work.
The Peg Plus is already quite wide (both the last AND midsole platform), with a generous upper material that will stretch. My advice is it might be worth a try on to see how it fits (if you haven't already). Performance and racing shoes from Nike don't get wide models, so I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. The good news is the Peg41 is very capable and does come in a wide...and the NB5 also does...
Thanks for the comparison! Curious to get your early thoughts / speculation on Vomero 18 vs the Novablast (might be a semi relevant comparison). Also curious to get your product POV on the Vomero 18 development / direction based on early specs and comparisons that have been released from the RE (seems that weight increased to 325g in sample size 10, price decreased by 10... compared to Zoom Fly 6 which weighs in the ~260 mark with similar stack... my current guess is Vomero is heavier due to increased composition of ReactX. reduction of Zoom X, and this despite smaller rubber coverage. That would explain the weight increase and the rationale to decrease price assuming certain profit margins have to be met).
I should have a pair of V18s in Jan and one of the first things I want to test is how it runs compared to the NB5. The Vomero has never been a true daily trainer too me, it's a long run/volume trainer by design, so the use case isn't as broad. That being said, it seems Nike has really worked on making the V18 more well rounded and a true "cushioned daily trainer" to be another option with the Pegasus (I'll have a video out next week revisiting the structure of the nike product line based on their official announcement). A ZoomX/ReactX combo is the shoe I've been waiting for. The midsole mix looks to be about 65/35% ReactX/ZoomX, which seems like the appropriate mix. The density and cushion of ReactX with the leg savings of the ZoomX (and maybe a little extra pop, but the ZoomX is there for recovery aspects, not performance). Basically a cushioned shoe that will be great to log lots of volume and maximize recovery. Sounds like just what a Vomero should be. Bottom line: I will compare the V18 to the NB5...but I don't think the V18 will have the top end the NB5 does...but likely will be better for volume running. Nike runenrs can now choose Pegasus 41/42 or Vomero 18 as the easy trainer + the Pegasus Plus as a performance trainer to optimize easy thru max effort. While the NB5 can do the full range, but maybe not as well on the edge. I will be testing this in Jan quite a bit. Stay tuned.
I got the Adidas Adizero SL2 last month and really like the lightweight. I have the SB. Do you think I can fit the Novablast 5 into my rotation? I didn’t like the Novablast 4 at all. You could, fit the NB5, but you really have no need too. If you like Adidas shoes...you upcoming Evo SL will be your shoe. It will also be the shoe that compares to the NB5 the most in the Adizero range, even more than the SL2. Once I can get a pair of Evo SLs...I'll be comparing them at length.
I look at forefoot stacks, not heel stacks....but yes, entering 2025...33mm in the heel is now "low"... 23mm in the forefoot is borderline "minimalist"...that is our current running shoe reality.
I own the peg plus and the mach 6, I agree the mach 6 gets most of the speed from the rocker compared to the peg plus which is a faster shoe that really likes to go fast, the mach has more cushion tho
