Thank you for making this video. I got bitten by a rattle snake 3 days ago and received 14 viles of anti-venom. I’m doing really well & now I’m interested in knowing in how this amazing stuff works.
When I was young my parents took me to some rock pools in Victoria Australia and we found a blue ringed octopus in one of the rock pools, (not know that they were venomous) we were playing with it and picking it up thankfully it was half dead (not in a horrible way) or otherwise we could have been poisoned
from what i recall, insecticides clog up the spiracles (little holes bugs use to breathe) and basically suffocate them. but there are probably many different types of insecticides that work differently.
There was this one Roman guy (I forgot his name) that was so scared of being poisoned by his rivals, that he took very small amounts of the poison during his whole life, to build up a immune system. When he was captured by the enemy during a war, he tried to commit suicide by taking the poison. Unfortunately for him, he survived as he built a very strong immunity against the poison. (And probably became slave or died a very cruel dead) You should look it up if you're interested, as I can't remember the details :)
According to some doctors in South Africa, the Anti-venom they have comes from horses, and the problem was that the Horse proteins and antibodies in the anti-venom was actually causing worse results and resulting in more deaths, then when they didn't use Anti-venom at all, so they have actually stopped giving anti-venom. Move people were dying from the anti-venom, then from the actual snake bites, so they don't give it anymore.
I remember seeing a discovery channel show (a while ago) about a guy that injects himself with small amounts of venom...I remember there being a purpose...but I can't remember what it was... I think he was building a resistance to it...how does that work? If humans can't make the right type of antibodies...
0:31 I don't think that's a picture of a box jellyfish. From the pictures and videos I've seen, box jellyfish are crystal clear with four (hence the name box jellyfish), hair thin tentacles.
As a diver that frequents the tropics I am especially careful of cone snails otherwise know as the cigarette snail because you have just enough time to smoke one before your dead meat. Diving in the West Indies with a girl friend who just had to grab the first pretty shell she saw. After I explained what often inhabits them she decided to stick with fossils.
when i was living in a south indian rent house a cobra get into the house they smashed the snake with big heavy sticks , metal pipes and stuff and buried it . The snake looks soo grows on its white belly side its like a rope got life . They say that the snakes with venom are slow and snakes without venom are fast I dont know if its true or false
Not really. Coming from northern Wisconsin. We still have insects like ticks and mosquitoes though which can carry some pretty nasty ailments. Limes Disease and Malaria. There have been cases where a random Rattle snake has made it into the southern border of our state, but then winter comes and they die. Almost makes the brutal winters worth it.
Ok soo these antivenoms are actually antibodies that alter the shape of venom molecule attached to the receptor in the person hence making the receptors free ....and neutralising the effect of venom
Why isn't their an antivenin for some species? Is it because the venoms are too virulent?

I'm mainly afraid of snakes venom. In the national park that is around my city there are many snakes and I've seen some (rattlesnakes among them). However we have never had any problem with them.
can you guys pleaseee make a video on how devices vibrate? like seriously how does my iphone vibrate? i've been wondering this since i was a kid and i need to know.
i know the black widow is not THAT venomous. but i was orange picking in the outback of Australia for some extra money. had 2 of them on my shirt, and saw 3 others. i quit the next day.
Typically those of us who live in Australia, home to the worlds best beaches, have to also watch out for one of the most poisonous creatures that lives on planet earth.
Now I wonder if the process of injecting and extracting the anti-bodies from these animals to make the anti-venom is humane? I assume the animals aren't killed, but I wonder what that process is like and how long that takes, hopefully it's not painful.
My mom's sister is such a toxic person I call her auntie venom.

What happens to the insects when we use insect killers? How are they killed?
from what i recall, insecticides clog up the spiracles (little holes bugs use to breathe) and basically suffocate them. but there are probably many different types of insecticides that work differently.
Diego Briones many insecticides block acetylcholine (a type of neurotransmitter) receptors so insects cannot survive
Diego Briones they killed by your insect killer.. 😟

I was struck by lightning while being bitten by a rattlesnake and now I have superpowers!

Let's just say the phrase "draining the snake" has never been more apt.

I am most afraid of getting bitten by a zombie.😂😂
All that you said about how it works is that it binds to the venom preventing the protein from locking on to the receptors.
All the rest was filler.
Not being bit is a better way to not die from venom
I remember learning about this in Inquiring Minds!
"...and That's a problem..."
Am I the only one who thought, "Oh boy here comes a message," after that line?
As a diver that frequents the tropics I am especially careful of cone snails otherwise know as the cigarette snail because you have just enough time to smoke one before your dead meat.

not true, the fastest snake is the black mamba which is very venemous

Mr. Waffleman "Hey what is up guys? Antvenom here" intensifies.

it's expensive because the pharmaceutical companies have a monopoly on it.
are there any venomous animals/insects in cold climates?
Not really. Coming from northern Wisconsin. We still have insects like ticks and mosquitoes though which can carry some pretty nasty ailments. Limes Disease and Malaria. There have been cases where a random Rattle snake has made it into the southern border of our state, but then winter comes and they die. Almost makes the brutal winters worth it.
i moved from india to canada. Still gets scared when walking past some high grass. So just wanted to know. Thanks.

Ok soo these antivenoms are actually antibodies that alter the shape of venom molecule attached to the receptor in the person hence making the receptors free ....and neutralising the effect of venom
You should do a manbun
Why can't they use E. Coli to synthesize the antivenom, like how we now produce insulin for diabetics?
Rattlesnake venom is the one im focused on. Less afraid of being bitten by them now. How do people contain 60k snakes?
Why isn't their an antivenin for some species? Is it because the venoms are too virulent?

I'm scared of being stung by a blue ringed octopus because theirs no antivemon for those
What I'm afraid of getting bit by? Anything that can bite 😂
Dnews why is your audio always so low?
How do physicians know which type of anti-venom to use? Different snakes would require different types of anti-venom.
Knowing what snake bit you is extremely important.
Usually they ask
@@entitledbobcat they ask the snake? Not everyone knows species.😆

can anti particles colliding with particles make powerful bombs? maybe even create some advancement in fusion
Can you make a video on why blue ring octopi don't have an anti-venom?
tick bites... some of the stuff they may carry is horrible.. congo hemaorragic fever with almost 50% mortality rate as example...
Should of mentioned the cost to the actual patient. That's more scary than the venom itself.
I already bitten by a snake don't have time to watch the whole video, you need to tell me what to do.
so its not true that you can only use an antivenum once?
Typically those of us who live in Australia, home to the worlds best beaches, have to also watch out for one of the most poisonous creatures that lives on planet earth.
2:30 why I am thinking of milking a snake in dirty way.
there's a bump on your face
Shark, I'm most afraid of being bitten by a big shark. No antivenom for bleeding out from having your thigh muscle ripped off...
Why carnt you buy Antivenom in australia
How come we can't synthesize it.
Life is actually very scary without money
Can a human use a snake antivenom that is made for Animals?
my dog almost died from a single bee sting. the vet gave her anti-venom
Why is there no antivenom for the Blue-Ring Octopus?
Everything that's not a bird or a cute bunny. Anything else trying to bite me would scare the shot out of me, including other humans.

afraid to be bitten by inflation
Don't have a friend suck it out. They could lose their taste for up to one year...kind of like the great con.
Already survived a box jelly sting over more than 5% of my body w/o anti-venom.... so I'm good thanks. :)

I'm most afraid of being bitten by a human, because the bite will always become infected EDIT: Or so I've been told
the time when you realize the more venomous animals is a species of snail and an octopus.
Well that is kinda cruel. Can it not be done in-vitro?
I'm quite certain that the general consensus that has been fairly well established by now is that: humans have no business being in Australia.
Isn't it supposed to be Antivenin?
aaaaand there you go, I should have waited for the end of the video.
