  • Unfortunately, my first video about my solar system is primarily to help SolarEdge troubleshoot my system tripping off.
    There is a brief introduction to the system but mostly about a few hours of operation sped up to show how much the system was tripping.

    Turns out our local utility voltage was really high (253V instead of 240V) and that was causing the system to trip off. Thanks to my installer, Blackline Power, for identifying the problem and contacting our local utility to correct!

      How were you able to find this out?

      My installer spent a lot of time conversing with SolarEdge and our power company. After I was told, I obseved that our line voltage is all over the place. Anywhere from 225-260V.

      They have since replaced the inverter with one configured for a "dirty grid".

      @@AnotherNerdyCanuck How did you "observe" this line voltage variability? Some sort of device? thanks

      I noticed it with my Tesla. Plugging in every night gave a voltage reading, sometimes very high. After that, I bought a plug in voltmeter from Amazon. It provided a continuous reading I could check anytime.

    Thank you for this video! Using this info, I was able to get my new inverter reset, paired and power restored after 9 months of no solar power. Thanks so much.

    You can scan the QR code on the side of the inverter using the app and then get far more detailed info on your faults.
    I hope you’ve got it sorted since the video is 8 months ago.
    I’ve just had a communications board fault during commissioning activities for my new Energy Bank. All three LED lights lit up, but dimly so. That one isn’t in the manual. New board being sent out over warranty.

    Whats the point of this video if it has no solution to it?

      Any word on that solution video currently at a customers house trying to figure out this issue 😅

      Sorry, I have a number of videos I am working on. Short version was SolarEdge replaced the inverter with one configured for a "dirty" grid.

      Thanks I was gonna tell them to order new inverter because they had me change the communication board and still had the same problem

    Ok so I am in Aus we have 240V over here and I have a similar error after my brand new SolarEdge worked for a day then tripped like this.. exact same light sequence. Happened sometime overnight - so this video gives me a massive clue.. Which SolarEdge "dirty inverter" did they give you and has the problem ever returned? Thanks

    • @wapphigh5250
      @wapphigh5250 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Further was yours tripping every day? Or intermittently? Say every few weeks? Thanks

    • @AnotherNerdyCanuck
      @AnotherNerdyCanuck  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The replacement inverter is the same style of inverter, but was configured differently (software only as far as I know). My inverter would trip every few minutes so that it was tripped more often than it was running!
      Thanks for watching!

      @@AnotherNerdyCanuck how come then they just couldn;t do that onsite? curious.. I'll get back to you on which one you went with in the end if it proves I have the same problem. Thanks!

    the power co tells me that 254 volts is what they deliver by state regulations

      The problem was the rapid fluctuations. SolarEdge ended up sending us a new inverter designed for a "dirty grid". It has been installed for almost a week and is working great!
      Thanks for your comment!

      It's a good question. I keep planning to take it down, but people keep watching it and finding it helpful.
