  • Easy Step-By-Step How To Restart Any Solar Edge Solar Inverter. Troubleshooting...What Do Those Indicator Lights Mean? Watch This Video To Find Out If Your Solar Edge Inverter Is Working And How Restart it.
    How to Reboot, Reset and fix Your SolarEdge Inverter.
    In this video, Green Greg explains how to reboot a SolarEdge inverter when it malfunctions or stops producing power. Blinking Green lights or no lights indicates a malfunction. He begins by pointing out the different components of the SolarEdge inverter and how they vary in different installations. He then provides step-by-step instructions on how to shut down the inverter, which involves turning off the toggle switch, disconnect switch, and any circuit breakers that may be connected. He recommends doing this when the sun is shining for better results. After a few minutes, he instructs the viewer to reverse the process and turn everything back on gradually. The inverter will take about five minutes to reboot and during this time, the lights may blink and clicks may be heard, indicating that the inverter is booting up and the relays are working. The process is complete when the lights turn solid green and blue. Green Greg suggests being patient and waiting for the inverter to fully boot up. He concludes the video by encouraging viewers to subscribe to his channel where he discusses various solar-related topics.

    Greg saved my bacon!!! Greg thank you so much for taking my call and providing the information that helped me get answers all the way in Texas! Greg provided an idea to contact a wholesale distributor here in Texas who led me to a solar servicing company who assisted me with the dreadful Solar Edge 18xB7 inverter death code... my original installer went out of business as most bs solar installers due (your door to door salesman) and I could not find a current install company that would take on my system... for those of you in a similar situation you have to find a solar servicing company of your original installer goes out of business. Greg thanks again!

SolarEdge will cover equipment cost and shipping … you will need to pay for labor which usually only a few hundred or so …
      When you talk to new solar installers you’re not asking them. To warranty just service and you will pay them …

    If it's legal in your country , you can turn all breakers/dials/switches off , take off cover, and investigate any corrosion, bad relays, shorted components, bulged capacitors etc. But only if it's legal and you are savvy.

    • @gregm448
      @gregm448 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes .. but I'm cautious about recommending this to anyone who does not have electrical experience .... a home grid-tied solar inverter can be upto 430 volts and a shock can be fatal ... even turned off capacitors and transformers may still have stored electric so only for someone who is an electrician or has proper solar training. to do this.... thanks for your comment. Best Regards

    Greg thank you very much for your gudiance and training. Our installer went out of business years ago. Our 3gl wifi reporting process is no longer supported by Solar Edge so we are blind eventhough we have the SolarEdge app installed. We connected ethernet cables to both inverters. our configuration is all internal. Meaning you must have the cover off to configure the reporting to LAN.
    As previously stated we are BLIND, Trying to find out what were are generatimg. Getting high electricy bills from FP&L but no visibilty on what we are producing so we are are at a huge disadvantage.
    What is the proper sequence to set up so the commincations with the Ethernet cable connected? Do you keep the power om with cover off when doing this lan configration process or not? I have experience with high voltage equipment from my time as technician in the military. Please advise on step by step procedure to properly and safely configre the LAN reporting process.
    Please advise

      Sorry to hear that… I think that customers hear 25 yrs warranty and they expect there should be no service required … but just like a vehicle, hvac , or any major items there may be a need for service …this is why it’s important to go with a local company that has great reviews and been around and the same with the equipment mfr …
      If your installer out of business contact mfr … thanks for watching .

      Hey what's up man, I know I'm a little late and you might not need any advice at this point; but If you do still need some advice or if you still have any questions I would be more than happy to chat and answer any questions you have about your system and lease agreement.
      I quit solar for awhile because it's a very dishonest and corrupt business.
      I've been in the industry for a while now. I've worked for 8 different solar companies in two different states and everyone of them has had leadership that was in over there head and or barely knew what they were doing.
      They've ALL been a shit show!!
      I've worked as an installer, an apprentice, and spent a little time in sales as well. My brother has been doing it for 10 years and we briefly ran our own company in California before he got sick....
      So I have a pretty decent understanding of the financial side of things and how the lease agreements work as well. So if you need any advice or have any friends that do; let me know.....I want to help educate the consumers , because they'res alot of people out there that are in the same boat you are or some quick talking salesman talked them into something they didn't quite understand and realize what they were signing.
      But anyway, here to help anyone that could use some. This is a standing offer for anyone that come across this. ........💯

      @@JusMG559 As fas as reimbursement I'm not sure. I did receive a claim request form but required to submit the form after the first year. The system performed well when it was working and some months over performed. Because of the months when the system over performed on average I may not receive any reimbursement. I am tracking on a spreadsheet. Any advice would be welcomed. I am also looking for a company that would pay for excise energy the system is producing when working, right now I get credit up to the amount of the usage, any extra is sent back to the grid. I'm Texas.

      Do you have a battery hooked up to solar edge ? If you shut off disconnect switch that should cut power to inverter … If you have a battery you will need to shut off breaker in your circuit panel -there should be a breaker labeled SOLAR..
      If these don’t work then i suspect there is a wiring issue … you will need a solar tech to come out..
      if you don’t have a battery and you put toggle to OFF there is a wiring issue … hope this helps ..

      Nightmode is either roof issue or thermal damage in inverter. If you're comfortable test the strings coming in when DC is off for safety voltage. It's gotta be at least 8vdc. If the string voltage is there there's likely an issue in the top cabinet of the inverter

    Solar edge is the worst. I have two of them. They only have a couple lights, no LCD screen to display power being generated. Mine, installed by TESLA, always have issues and then it takes months to get service

    • @solarbygreengreg
      @solarbygreengreg  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does not have a display because there is a phone app and desktop app used. to monitor the solar system .. the app gives more information then a display ever could .. such as individual solar panel monitoring ...Did Tesla give you access to solar app ? I think in Tesla... they have own app that works with solar edge. Regarding taking months to get service..... that is Tesla's fault not solar edge .... Unfortunately Tesla has reputation for poor service .... and also if not installed properly your going to have problems ... But This is deal you made with Tesla to get lowest price in the country .... lowest price often means they are cutting services and / or using installers not properly trained... Lesson here don't just buy lowest price! I wish you the best with your solar system...

    • @solarbygreengreg
      @solarbygreengreg  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I understand that you expected SolarEdge to be problem free and never need maintenance or repair ?
      your vehicle may need minor repairs after a number of years that’s why there are still repair shops … solar is same way …occasionally it needs repair.
      Regarding cell card … the old cards were on 3 g network which many cell companies are closing down … you can either get a new LTE cell card about $300 plus install. Or get a WiFi card
      As far as solar edge failing 6 yrs this is still in warranty with solar edge they will ship replacement unit for free. You may have to pay labor which shouldn’t be more than a few hundred

    • @ddmercantile
      @ddmercantile 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@solarbygreengreg sadly my track record on the Solaredge system is better than most. I merely expect it to perform on par with other household appliances for which I paid similar prices. An inverter is not a car which is taking a beating for hundreds of thousands of miles through all kinds of weather. I can't think of one household item - appliance or electrical or plumbing, unless it's a $20 toaster - that fails after six years, especially complete failure. And when it provides half your electricity that's expensive on top of the repair/service/order costs. I am still waiting to hear back from the original installation company, while the electric bill runs up and the sun shines, as Solaredge has no information anywhere as to how to warranty out a failed inverter. Don't gaslight me and tell me it's not a nightmare dealing with their product.

    • @solarbygreengreg
      @solarbygreengreg  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s an inverter it can get very hot … and is outside it’s taking lots of abuse… and operating most of day … much different than toaster …… most failtures I’ve seen are because getting too hot and mounted on a south wall - which gets most sun and heat …
      I recommend trying to provide shade by planting a tall hedge or bush in front of it … by the way solar edge is not only one with faultures… many other brands having same issues … solar edge has revised design of their inverters about a yr ago … to address this issue.
      SolarEdge has warranty 12 yrs standard … and you can buy extended warranty 25 yrs .
      Your installer is supposed to be servicing your solar … once solar edge determines it’s a product failture a new unit is shipped within 7-10 days …SolarEdge has been very quick in replacing units.
      So I hope your installer can help …
