I have never trimmed a 9mm case. Anyway I have hooked up a borescope ($14 off Amazon). Hi have it attached to the upright support with tie wraps. It looks down into the case before you put the bullet in. I can see inside the case no problem to check the powder level. You do need to hook it up to your cell phone of computer.
I was in the same boat I never trimmed and never checked. Its an extra step that probably 99% of 9mm loaders don't do but after having my Blowout I sleep better now doing it. I seriously considered the borescope modification as you have done and think this is a great option.
