Brawl will always be my favourite and will always hold a special place in my heart.
Super Smash on N64 is criminally underrated. It started it all and created so many of the signature Smash concepts that all of the other games would use. Me and my friends played that game off and on for about 10 years!

I’m a bit surprised and also so happy that Brawl is that high. I always thought it was an unfairly maligned game in the series, and it’s still my personal favorite even after playing Ultimate.
Brawl's gameplay did sucked. Wasn't unfairly maligned.
But Brawl at the same time can be the best game in the series thanks to Project M and Project + patches.

@@lapplandkun9273I’m not a competitive player, I just don’t wanna trip for no fucking reason or have one character be so much better than the rest of the cast it’s absurd. Even 64 had more depth to its gameplay than Brawl.
I’ll say it: I think Smash 3DS was awesome. Played so awesomely on the 3DS, huge roster, so many option, graphics look damn good. Was a huge step up from Wii. You could tell so much effort was put in to make the most of this. Still glad I have it after these years
I will admit multiplayer is rough
The 3ds version was the 2nd version of smash I played and it was very fun and then i forgot my 3ds at my pops house 3 years later its still there :[

Great video as always IB! My favorite smash is definitely Melee; it was my first one, but also the characters have never responded more closely to my controller inputs in any other Smash. That game just feels the most right to me, even today.

@@thewarrior8497 it really isnt. the movement is the most precise in fighting game or even platform history. maybe not if your main characters are either bowser, zelda, kirby, but literally everyone else is a joy to move around with. this on top it also being SUPER fast paced. the options are also incredible. items, no items, metal mode, tiny mode, coin battle, adventure mode (which is more revolutionary for its time than subspace emissary which something like that was expected by the time brawl came out). even if you are a super casual smash bros player, i dont understand the perspective of it being "overrated". also, if you like the franchise form a spectator perspective than melee easily blows the rest out of the water. its too impressive how many buttons are pressed per second at the tip top level.

I love your ranking somebody finally understands that brawl is better than most think melee and Wii u have to be fairly overrated especially melee It feels like I'm the only that likes the dark tone and more edgy music though it looks weird with Mario and Yoshi I still think it's my favorite design

I was going to put my list of smash worst to best but you beat me to it. I played brawl with brother all of the time well maybe not all the time but you get my idea, and smash 64 I played on my brothers old n64. Loved playing on n64, I'm only like 12 but I joke that I grew up in the 90s a lot. Love to see your content keep at it bud

Though I've played every game in the series, I really can't give a definitive ranking for these games because each one is surprisingly different in terms of both overall content and gameplay mechanics. Objectively from worst to best by the slightest of margins I'd say 64, 3DS, Brawl, Wii U, Melee, and Ultimate. I'd say most fun with friends is Brawl (though it might be because this was a lot of my friends' first smash game) and best for competitive is Melee without question, but that's my list judging from a balanced perspective.
I'm shocked your favorite game isn't brawl, because it's extremely underated just like your channel!

The only REAL problems with brawl is it's core design and because of it, it's gameplay.

From a causal standpoint, each get improved upon the last from a purely on the basis of content. From a more competitive perspective I really feel like Ultimate > Wii U > Brawl > N64, and where Melee ranks really depends if you prefer the Ultimate/Wii U gameplay to Melee’s gameplay

WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN
Ultimate has all the unique third party character, we have snake returning, Steve and sephiroth joining, it’s just awesome, if only it had target test or missions
ya but a few dlc makes no sense. like cloud (yes, this one's from wii u I know), sephiroth, sora, joker, byleth, incinaroar, piranha plant. not only are none of them as iconic as say leon Kennedy or jill valentine, or master chief, or doom guy or several others, none of them make sense to be in smash bros. representing Nintendo, like, leon, jill, professor layton, conker, other f-zero, and starfox characters, and doom guy because of doom eternal on switch and doom 64.

That's like saying mario makes sense to be in smash but not bowser
I really like Super Smash Bros Ultimate it was hard for me at first but now I got better but I still lose sometimes though. I can't say much about the other smash games they look good but I never played them. You're really good last week I subbed and I liked your ranking video for the super mario party games.

I wouldn't say I hated brawl because I loved playing any Nintendo local multiplayer game with my friends, but I just had the least fun with brawl compared to the other ones. And I never really loved playing with any specific character in brawl.

Nice video! I largely agree with your ranking with one exception: I think the 3DS version was better than the Wii U version. I was actually super disappointed by the Wii U version. I've never really had access to large amounts of people that I could play games with, so I've always been a big single player guy when it comes to smash. And Wii U just completely fails at delivering good single player content. I don't even think the combat was that good. On the 3DS, having slow gameplay made sense because with the small screen it's easier to keep track of everything. But on the Wii U, it just feels really clunky and slow. I still think 64 is the objective worst smash game, but Wii U isn't far behind for me. Once again though, nice video!

Melee will always be my favorite because it was the one that came out when I was a kid. We played that game to death. I thoroughly enjoyed Brawl as well. It was its own thing with the dark story and whatnot. I played the Wii U one and hated it. It felt like it was neutered or something. The original was fun as well. I remember playing it at my grandparent's because I had a N64 there. I've played Ultimate the least because I'm just now catching up on the Nintendo Switch. I got mine in 2020 (I'm mostly a PS guy) and where the Wii and Wii U didn't exactly "click" with me, it made me hold off on the Switch. Obviously, Nintendo has nailed it with the Switch, but I digress. With all of this said, I'm catching up on Switch games and I've played through The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening remake, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and Bayonetta 2. I'm currently doing a Breath of the Wild playthrough, so I should probably play some Smash Ultimate in between.
I grew up with 64 and melee and the thing I liked about melee was the depth of skill the game took. Sure wavedashing was an exploit but it required actual skill. Brawl to me felt like a step back because tripping is random and not based on a lack of skill. So if you are skilled at the game it still punishes you.
Also characters like olimar with only a tether recovery are SOL on recovery for a stage without ledges.
Smash 4 and brawl get way to much hate glad to see someone whos honest and doesnt just put melee first because of nostalgia

But, I would switch the wii u over 3ds because the Wii U version feels like an expansion of the N64 Smash.

Honestly considering the time the N64 was released and the hardware it was capable of the original super smash bros game really shows how great the N64 can be the graphics are actually really good and the controls are really simple and easy to get used to, what a great game that started it all
In my eyes, I think the Wii U game is the worst. It just doesn't feel special in any way, it poorly implemented classic mode, all of the new modes were horrible and it doesn't have anything thing like a story mode to distinguish it from the others in a good way. The game just feels ike it lacks content. Even the 3DS version is better because of Smash Run. Sure you could argue the the first one is the worst because it lacks content, but at least it has an excuse. N64 cartridges have very limited space. At least Super Smash Bros has charm to somewhat compensate for its lack of content. But the Wii U just doesn't feel right. Something about it is off. But I will give Credit to the amazing roster of the Wii U game.

I bought the Wii U for Smash...but I played Smash for like a day and never touched it again...I definitely spent a lot more time with Brawl..and A LOT more with Ultimate

Brawl is the undisputed best smash bros in my opinion. I wish I can bottle up that stretch of time playing all night with my bros and cousins. Like literally. Sonic finally entering was a game changer! The soundtrack and maps were great.
Smash ultimate is a close 2nd. If smash ultimate had a satisfying adventure mode, I’d give it the edge.
Melee is 3rd. Their adventure mode and variety was great.
I agree with this ranking for the most part. Except despite the difficulties of the 3DS, I still find the 3DS version to be the more enjoyable compared to the Wii U one with better modes and the portability was just great. Although there are a few mistakes in this video because the tournament mode and the shared content are features that already existed and debuted in Smash for Wii U with the exact same main options. Even though Smash Ultimate probably has the best Stage Builder mode it still lacks the amount of pre-existing elements with specific properties like ladders, falling blocks and complex constructions like trees acting as platforms to decorate your stage the Brawl one has.
The way I would rate them from worst to best is 6. 64 5. melee 4. brawl 3. 3ds 2. wii u 1. ultimate.

Melee is my favorite! Sometimes simpler is better. It was the perfect blend.
Not a fan of Ultimate or Brawl. Way too much going on during the match that takes away from the fighting.
You can change the settings
The moment you put melee at 3rd was when I knew you never actually tried to get good at the game. How do you put a game that punishes you for moving (which is the most important part of your gameplay) above Melee? I could see ultimate taking first and melee second. Only because ultimate has adopted several movement mechanics from melee (refined as they are) and has nearly 4 times the roster size. I personally didn’t like sub space emissary and missed the looming mystery of how did you unlock that guy when your friends came over and saw mewtwo was in the game for the first time.

Love your vids! But one thing I don't agree to. You say when the Wii U version of Smash 4 came out everyone ditched the 3DS version. Not true! There were many people who unfortunately didn't want the Wii U and just kept playing the 3DS version. I played the 3DS version online with a group of people and not even half of this group made it to the Wii U version when it came out. Comparing the 3DS and Wii U hardware sales should back this fact.
