- What up Paper boys. Back with another ranking video finally. This time were look at every Paper Mario game through out the years and finding out which is the best. Decided to make this with the release of Paper Mario the Origami King and I'm going to rank them from my personal preference.

I can’t express how much I love TTYD. It’s easily one of my top 3 favorite games of all time. It’s one of those games where you feel fulfilled yet a bit sad when you complete your journey, truly one that can’t be forgotten.
I never played TTYD and I can’t wait for the remake. Less than two months to go!
Wow, I think you described so perfectly the reason why the original Paper Mario was so mind blowing, the point about classic Mario characters having different roles, as well as the combat system which allows having a lot of fun with strategy but is also much simpler than that of most RPGs... Also, your ordering is exactly the same as mine, and Paper Mario TTYD is possibly my favorite game of all time... I really wish I could erase my memory of it and be able to experience it again as in the first time.

It's a shame that your channel seems to have very poor interaction compared to your subscriber count, this is genuine quality content that is on par with other Nintendo TH-camrs like Marc Lovallo or AntDude or Nathaniel Bandy
Well thank you bro glad you think so. I'm just trying to grow as a channel right now while I'm still small just takes time I guess, I'm always trying to improve my video quality. I'm just trying to get more people to notice my channel at this point

@@aspiknf I loved the difficulty of the first one. In fact, I thought the games that came after it (sans Bowser’s Inside Story) were a bit too much on the easy side (albeit still fun).
Super paper mario is my absolute favorite paper mario game because of the nostalgia. I use to play it all the time with my pop pop when i was like 4 or 5 it was amazing

@@samuelG009 That's kinda his point. It makes sense that he doesn't come back after the rock scene because he's a mass-produced Bob-omb. He didn't really think of himself as special and tried to make the most of the short time he had, but his outlook changes once he realizes he was special to Mario and Olivia.

Color Splash had good writing, more unique characters, and then most memorable moments from the more recent games. Loved getting the Orange star.

Finding your channel was like stumbling upon hidden treasure on an island in the vast expansive sea that is youtube. Your ranking order was exactly the same as mine (and PP TTYD is my all time favorite game) and the Star Wars analogy was absolutely spot on. I even sensed you would bring up SW specifically when when you started saying it was comparable to something. Maybe it was the Force at work.. anyway, keep up the good work! Subscribed!

Origami King is my first paper mario game and I love it to bits. I guess that it might not hold up as well compared to the other games in the series, but I feel like it’s good enough to introduce people to the series at least.
Origami King is a pretty good game, it just pales in comparison to the first 3 games.
I love the music in the game
It's my favorite. Love it to death. It feels like a wholly unique yet equally charming experience to TTYD and SPM. And the og, I'm sorry, but it's just worse than TTYD imo. Still good, but rather play origami king any day of the week.

Hard to believe the original Paper Mario is over 20 years old. I got it when it first came out, and it has been my absolute favorite game ever since. Makes me feel old lol.

Sticker Star is special to me. I can’t explain it but it was my childhood. I love the music visuals and the puzzles. So it’s my second favorite behind the original
Well it was my first so I liked it a lot then I tried the original and I loved it then I did color and I’m like this is worse. Then I did super And I was disappointed but it was #2 for me I loved the story after that I tried 1000 year it was great but I still liked the original Paper Mario it almost tied with super I’ve never tried Oragami but I’m guessing I’d put it 4th right above sticker or 5th considering it was my first one as I still enjoy sticker even though it’s trash compared to the first 3

My first Paper Mario and y love it
I can’t express how much I love Color Splash has. It’s one of my top favorite Paper Mario games of all time. It’s one of those games where you feel bit sad when it endet and.
I want them to make a direct sequel to TTYD because it was that good. I LOVED the battle system with the whole stage setup, the ability to influence the audience to get free items and recharge your Star Powers, the dynamic stage that could fall apart and deal damage to Mario or his enemies if you used certain attacks, and the ability to upgrade your stage over time, going from Rising Star, to B-List Star, to A-List Star, and Superstar. It was perfect, and there's not much I would change about... except maybe give the player the ability to purposefully damage or manipulate parts of the stage to aid you in battle. Like turning off the lights on Mario's side of the stage so that enemy attacks miss, knocking down parts of the stage to damage enemies, or repairing damage to the stage to keep Mario from taking extra damage. Stuff like that.
Story-wise, I would love to see the Shadow Queen make a return. Shadow Peach's design is just so fricking cool, and I think it would be awesome if she somehow survived the final battle and came back as the main antagonist, conquering the Mushroom Kingdom and slowly regaining her powers over the course of the game.
Imagine going back to Toad Town from the first game, only it's slowly being drained of life as the Shadow Queen regenerates; the Toads are all turned into zombies as the corruption spreads, making them hostile to Mario and party. Think of what happened to King Jingaling in _Banjo-Tooie_ after Grunty drained his life force.

Oh man you absolutely won my subscription when you started the comparisons with the Star wars movies now even though I love the prequel trilogy but boy I could totally get it and that was really cool and I think this is a very cool channel!
Funny thing about your Star Wars parallel, Super Paper Mario and Return of the Jedi are both far and away my favorites, and both are less popular with people who are into the whole franchise, but both have the best cry parts, and thus are my favorite.
You deserve more subs you put so much effort in to these videos. I really like this list, but in my top 6 super paper mario is number 2 and 64 is 3, because in my opinion super had more to offer than 64 and because of nostalgia.

Totally agree with this list. TYD has soooo much nostalgia and a phenomenal story line it’s hard to beat. It also is not necessarily an easy game, I played and beat it 10+ times and improved my skills each time with different strategies. Something that could have been talked about was the strategy of changing your level ups between the 3 options. I once only level upped my badge points, was completely weak yet bad so many badges to work with. Anywho, great list!

Why Super being the best?

3) Multiple Characters who had different moves
4) You could play as Bowser, not sure if Super was made before Bowser’s Inside Story tho

Love games where Bowser is on Mario's side for a change. Although he hates Mario and only helps out for his own selfish reasons (like not being able to take over the world if he doesn't help Mario stop someone else from doing it first), it's still cool.
You know it and it has my favorite PM/Mario Character, Count Bleck!

Infinite Bits The writing and puzzle solving of oragami king aspects really appeal to me, along with the suprisingly great characters and boss battles. Idk I just like it
@@pheonixpidgey5294 yes it was really fun and when you thought you seen all of the game they throw a whole bunch of interesting stuff .
Every level was just another big surprise, the battling is necessary (and in my opinion really fun and creative), because coins go in and out with a snap.
And the people who you meet on your journey were just do fantastically done (old and new) and I loved them all.
And well this is one of the few games that broke me with sadness, especially the end when the journey was over, because I really wanted it to continue 😅
I’m on a quest to play every Paper Mario game. The first one I’ve played and enjoyed to heck and back is Origami King (I know, late to the party), and I’ll be getting Sticker Star, too. Didnt get Color Splash but watched a full playthrough of it. I will also be buying Super some time in the future.

Yeah I mean they technically had "partners" but like you said there temporary, you can't control them and in some sections you don't have any partners. Its not even close to the old partners thats what I was getting at.

Ya that's fair, I would actually consider them half partners too. I just said in the video they didn't have them because they were nothing like the classic partners and didn't have much depth in using them

THOUSAND YEAR DOOR is the best. I just played it again on my emulator and ITS SO GOOD. The battle mechanic is fun. The story and writing and plot ARE ACTUALLY clever and funny. It is in my top games of all time.

The prequels were good...
Dimitri Smith Revenge of the Sith was good. TPM and AOTC had sections that were good but as a whole just can’t compare with the rest. I’m not even going to bring up my opinions on the sequels good or bad because I don’t want to start WWIII in the comment section.

you can hate anything about sickter star, but the concept behind the use of stickers and these things was great. if the battles had some useful rewards, the battlesystem would been really good.

I gotta say, I love your ranking. I've played them all. And Truthfully I believe the OG paper Mario is the best. TTYD is very good as well. There is just no nostalgia. It would have been better if it introduced more Easter eggs or previous cameos. All in all, love the content
Color Splash is so underrated. The way the map and levels work like when you get a star and move on to a new level. And levels like violet passage, where you have to hit markers to earn points and pass, and the parallel universes in the island levels. The boss battles also require thinking and are more fun then in other games in my opinion. But the games pinnacle is anything after the blue star. All of the secondary colored paint stars have amazingly put together levels, like tangerino grill and sunset express. In fact, sunset express is my favorite game level ever. Though it does lack characters and character development, it has very good humor and probably the best script with the ai. I would rank it

Origami King wasn't fun for me after the 2nd "Chapter". The battles got boring, the story got boring, the partners were just battling so they seem like partners while they are just NPCs that were important for the story.
I grew up with sticker star and enjoyed it
I've played almost every game of the saga (except SS and CS) and i have to say...going back to TTYD after ToK is trully an experience.
Paper Mario on n64 was such an amazing game. Thousand year door was just as good if not better. Definitely went downhill after those masterpieces

Hey i like origami king nintendo spend some time on designing the origami characters
Okay, while I may have not played the other paper Mario games, I did have both Bowser’s inside story, and Sticker star, and I think I enjoyed both games more than I would have because one was a turn-based rpg and the other was a turn-based resource manager. One had Battle mechanics that built on itself over the course of the game, challenging yet memorizable attack patterns, and a pretty good story to go along with it. The other had challenging puzzles. that as a child who was considered gifted, loved to solve, a multitude of nooks and crannies of the game that I wanted to explore, and a beautiful art style that caught and kept my attention. Again, I have not played the other Paper Mario games, but as a kid, if this game was any different I would have probably had a lot less fun considering how both of these games would’ve been too similar to each other to enjoy.

I feel bad I wish I finished paper Mario 64 and thousand year door when they first came out they are amazing games just got stuck on I don't know what chapter in paper Mario 64 and it was either chapter 2 or 3 in thousand year door I was a dumb kid at the they are fun games I do remember that just got stuck I gave up too easily on games as a kid I'm really pissed about now especially if I want to buy paper thousand year door that game is hard to find and even when I do find it's expensive it will be very rare if I ever find this one for cheap. This sucks I took the old paper Mario games for granted 😟
@@wooldystarman7401 ya know what I remember in the first paper Mario game I was surprised Bowser actually kicked Mario's ass I was surprised thought Mario was going to win like always but no I wish Nintendo would do shit like that in paper Mario or even in the mainline 3d Mario games haven't been surprised in any Nintendo since paper Mario 64 that's it honestly deserves its original title in Japan Mario's story. Wish I finished the first 2 paper Mario games and wish I played super paper Mario I had no reason not to play that one it actually still looked fun and as a great story and interesting characters just like the first two games.
@@MadSociety-uy6zg Hey, you can use the project 64 emulator and I'm pretty sure you can play all the paper mario games on your pc then! Atleast, I know you can play TTYD on it instead of spending over 300 dollars for the controller and gamecube and game disk. Completely free! The only issue with the emulator is that there are some design errors, and it takes a bit of muscle memory to get used to playing with keyboard keys. :) let me know if I helped!

I love color splash, I played it a ton when I was younger and I really liked the simplicity and the dialogue. Obviously now that I’m older and looking at it without nostalgia as a factor I can see it’s flaws but I think that if it wasn’t tied to dumpster fire of sticker star so closely then I think it could be a pretty charming stand alone game. I will say that it’s not for everyone though.
Super Paper Mario is my favourite game because it’s a 2D & 3D platformer game with such fun mechanics, you can read enemy’s, 4 characters to play as.

Exactly. I actually enjoyed the partners in Origami King more than I enjoyed the ones in TTYD or 64. Some of those partners I'd only use when I needed their ability for a puzzle or something, then get my favorite back out lol.

I loved Sticker Star it's what got me into the series, I did try TTYD first buuuut it got a bit confusing and I ended up not liking or finishing the game lol. But now I'm on a quest to purchase and play all of them thanks to Sticker Star and Origami King being so damn good. TTYD definitely looks amazing to me now.
They're ALL amazing. Don't let people hating on any of the games affect your desire to play them all. They are all unique experiences and wonderful in their own ways.
Yes just because Sticker Star didn't do exactly what everyone wanted doesn't mean it's soooooo bad. Super did this too, and TTYD got boring after a while due to the fact that the n64 version was really similar. So everyone has their own opinions. Paper Mario the Origami King was my favorite game, actually.

0:51 Honestly, the funniest part is that Sticker Star's situation got WORSE as time went on, because then Color Splash came along & fixed a lot of major issues of Sticker Star. Is it still my 2nd least favorite game in the series? Yes. But I still consider it as a C-tier game, unlike the Z-tier Sticker Star.
3:26 No, those still existed, they just made Things more on your natural path, removed a LOT of the excess Things from Sticker Star, made them auto-convert into cards, & didn't make them require their own page in terms of storage.
10:14 That's something I love about games like Metal Gear Rising, where they dodge the pitfall of number scaling by having the damage done all in raw percentages. You took a hit? You lost 1.2% of your health. Made it very easy to understand how many of each attack you could take before you died.
Wow, I didn't expect us to agree 6/6 on where the games stack. Personally, I feel like purely ranking the games in comparison to each other is a tad unfair, because while Color Splash & Origami King are 5th & 4th for us, to me they're still C-tier & B-tier games respectively, which is fine on their own.
We need a new ranking for SS. X is too generous. How about _____, so new fans will never know if it’s existence.

The sequels have given me a new appreciation for the prequels. Besides, everyone underrates the prequels because they unfairly compare them to the original trilogy.

I feel like Color Splash had alot of potential, but alot of tweeking would have to be made in order for it to be a smash hit.
It has amazing writing and some cool mechanics. If it wasnt held back from the mechanics left over from Sticker Star, and instead took mechanics from the first 3, and came out on the Wii or Switch instead, i think it wouldve been great
SPM is personally my #1 but after that change I agree fully
