This is my reaction to my first time hearing Wicked Game by Diana Ankudinova. While the lyrics didn't have as deep of mental health meaning as most songs we do here on the channel, the music itself literally made me dizzy as I felt a rush of bliss. and hey, relationships ALWAYS have a mental health aspect, right? Sorry for the occasional blurs, I promise I got that fixed!

Her backstory is a demonstration of the indomitable will and spirit of the human soul. She had 8 siblings of which none survived her mothers abuse. She was picked up at about 3 years old half dressed outside in Russian cold with a broken collar bone I think. Her other family members took her but did not want her because she could not talk. An angel put here by God was a physical therapist and saw her in the Russian orphanage where she worked at and adopted her. She put her in singing lessons to help her develop her speech. The rest is history. Diana is an amazing girl and deserves the best life possible. She is humble and so loved by all her fans. One of the Judges in this show you watched is one of the top music people in Russia and arranged for her to attand the best musical conservatory in Moscow and gave her family an apartment to use during her training. He gets credit too, Igor Krutoy. God blessed Diana with a better life and in so doing blessed all of us music fans.
When I first heard about her childhood, it really did not make me think that she may have been singing to her birth mother here. Since I did finally think of that, HOLY CATS that is SO messed up! This young woman deserves every comfort that life could offer her!
Unimaginable to be born to a family life like that! At least she did get to grow up at all and she got to have a real Angel of a Mother (that wonderful lady needs to be awarded a medal and more)! Now that Diana has a platform and can communicate VERY well in multiple languages, the world hears and FEELS her pain.
Thankfully, that is not all that she is about. She does some FUN stuff, too! Her cover of Havana is one of my favorites because she had fun while making it!

This was 15yo Diana singing in an amazing Russian project "You are Super" for abandoned/disadvantaged children because Diana spent some years in an orphanage when she was 3yo. She is a natural dramatic contralto (VERY deep!) which is rare in females but exceptionally rare in someone so young! Diana was born way over in the far eastern side of Russia in Primorsky Territory, northeast of Vladivostok. She has an extensive entry in Wikipedia now which explains her sad early childhood. She is now 18yo and she has already sung in *7 languages, Russian, English, French, Spanish, German, Ukrainian and Arabic!!!*

People often feel physical effects when Diana is singing. She's known as the Queen of Goosebumps. She was 15 during this performance. Diana was an abused orphan at an early age who had speech problems and her adopted Mother arraigned singing lessons to help her talk. Diana Ankudinova was born in May, 30th, 2003 in the Far East of Russia. (Height: 1,70 m/ 5,7” ) She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had many pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she abused the child and tried to drown it. One day this 3 year old child was found at a bus stop with a broken collarbone and taken to an orphanage.
There she finally found love ... by Irina Ponik, a massage therapist who treated the children from the children's home. Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared, but she could all sing songs from cartoons. A doctor recommended singing lessons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started …
Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest and lowest female voice type (her range C3-D6). Diana's voice also sometimes has a polyphonic undertone. You hear: Her voice sounds an octave below the singing voice. (But not everyone can hear that.) Diana also has a perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm was exceptional even as a little girl.
Diana impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions.
In 2018 and 2019 Diana entered a unique competition and won twice. This project is unique in the world, an international TV- competition: 'You are Super', especially for adopted and orphaned children.
The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to TH-cam and soon she had millions of fans and she is our goosbump queen.
The project producers help the finalists start their studies and encourage their creativity. Diana won a scholarship.

2020 Diana graduated from high school with honors as an external student a year earlier than it is 'normal'. That alone shows how smart and hardworking she is.

Hello Amanda and thank you for your fine reaction. Diana has a very rare voice. Yes, she is a contralto and she is also polyphonic, which means she can produce several tones at the same time.
Diana's background: Diana was born on May 31, 2003 in the Far East of Russia. She was severely abused as a small child and abandoned on the street by her birth mother in winter when she was only 3 years old with a broken collarbone. She was then taken to an orphanage where, after more than one year, she was adopted by Irina Ponik, a massage therapist. At the age of four and a half, Diana still could not speak properly. She also stuttered. Experts recommended that she take singing lessons to improve her general speaking and vocal skills.

There is a new TV show in Russia. There are 9 weeks with 9 shows and 9 well known artists. Diana is the youngest artist. They had to sing songs from 9 genres. The last TV show was on 20. November 2021. The 9 artists are also the judges for the other singer. And Diana (18 yo) won the overall competition of which Diana won 4 and took 2nd place once. She shocked the other singers with the first song. The Crow was her masterpiece in this competition, in my opinion. The judge who stands up is the great opera singer Yusif Eyvazov and the husband of Anna Netrebko, who is world famous. He's very impressed.

I think that Diana's performance of the song Personal Jesus is suitable for your channel, it is clearly connected with psychology, with religion, with personal ego, like an inner devil, and Diana, not only with her voice, but also in a fantastic performance, conveyed this concept of the famous Depeche Mode song.

You're right. The lyrics of this song, and some others that Diana performs, are not indicative of what might be considered "touching" in a mental health sort of way. On the other hand, the trials and tribulations that she's endured throughout her young life directly affect how she interprets and performs music. The mere fact that she is where she is today speaks to her ability to overcome the horrendously difficult situations that life has thrown at her (not to mention the stress she must have from becoming popular at such a young age). Ironically, Diana herself was an orphan who was abused and abandoned by her alcoholic mother at age 3. Because of this beginning, she had speech problems and was given singing lessons to help improve her speech. Her talent was quickly recognized and the rest is history.

It's so cool that both she and Dimash 'ignite' neuronal connections with their singing that heretofore had not been triggered in millions of people. Hence tons of goosebumps and shivers...and tears in many cases. Both of them are capable of keeping the listener engaged and grounded while lifting them to the stars! They can express a 'world' not seen or heard before and thus provide impetus to 'stick around' to see what you've been missing. mho :D

another great reaction now I will tell you all that I know of Diana she is a dramatic contralto and has use of Polyphonic overtones (if you know what polyphonic is) basically she can hit 2 notes at the same time she is an empath which means she doesnt sing anything she doesnt feel a connection too she has a very sad back story of her life but she has overcome so much to be able to do what she loves you should look her up on wikkipedia she started singing very early like 7 I believe as a means to help her speak she had an impediment (stuttering and not speaking at all for a time) she can make you feel alot of things with her music calm is one pain is one warmth is one joy is another you really should check out her journey there are alot of her songs on you tube the song she did in this one was done when she was 15 she is 18 now and goes to the best music school in Russia just finnished her first year there along with doing singing competions the most recent ended in Oct last year and she released an albumn in Dec as well as a brand new single very recently called side by side a duet with a friend and mentor Brandon Stone one of the few people she trusts in musicbecause he understands her and her voice and doesnt want to change a thing about her ok that should be enough I hope even if you dont do reactions to her that you will go and listen to her music for yourself I think you will love it all oh and by the way her style has been described as shamanic or earthy or siren like enchanting

Whitechapel - Anticure. Since I've discovered it, has been a very personal song to me. It represents the internal struggle and that conversation with your "inner self" I had for many months before I tried to "board the last train home". When I was just a kid and didnt know what mental health was, and the doors I closed on myself and how I ran in fear instead of processing. Trying to disect translate genius talent and a lifetime of dedication into words might be a little beyond -- always is -- i stumbled into Diana in her Rechenka at 14yo -- hundreds of reaction videos by professionals and simple folk alike make it pretty clear that "wow" pretty much covers it -- Clearly a god thing - she is FUN!

Diana is called a "shaman". When they try to figure out whether she is an angel or a demon, it does not work. For me, she is a pre-Christian pagan soul, from those times when mother and death were one. When a mother gives birth to someone, she brings one death into this world.
