What are you talking about?? Not good at Photoshop???? Your so good with design you do well taking on Photoshop! Imagine what you can do with the capabilities of photoshop!
I am not good at photoshop at all, but this seems like it would be suuper helpful for a project I'm planning which needs a big lake and a high plateau, which I just didn't do so far because terraforming huge areas is just so time consuming :0 Thank you for the always helpful videos!
thank you for this video! I spent ages looking for a video like this last night and yours by far is the best. you got an instant follow and i'll be watching more of your Planet Zoo videos
Thank you so much for showing us how to do this! I've been wanting to make a Canadian style zoo with the rocky mountains. I've always thought this was impossible to do because making one mountain alone in game is seriously difficult.
Could be interesting to use a digital photo, convert to greyscale and save as a .TIF then import into the game....could even use a screen capture from something like Google Earth. Have to give that a go sometime.
It makes a year I haven't played PZ, I left when this addition appeared... I would have stayed longer if I herd about it. I use height maps in Cities Skylines and it is pure awesomeness : very easy to create and a huge time saver for terra building ! OK... I'm getting back to planet zoo. ^^
Just checked it with Krita; and yes it does in fact work! Just import a copy of one of the premade PZ maps; and use the eyedropper to get different heights. Also the stamp tools make really interesting land patterns. Check it out!
Woah thats amazing! You should be able to make great maps then for everyone that plays Planet Zoo and doesn't have these great skills! Altho... I have been making maps for Cities Skylines too which does seem a lot easier than this :P
@@DeLadysigner ^^ My first attempt is going to be a Animal Crossing themed zoo with my favorite villagers as the Animal representative like my favorite Rory for Lions
This is going to be extremely useful. Now I can create my own maps just like you can in Transport Fever. In fact I can use some of the height maps I have already made for that game. This is going to make for some great zoo settings,
Thanks For this tutorial this one is really usefull. I am already making a highly detailed Biome Africa map! but that one was already started before this dlc!
Would of been more useful for me if it let you changed outside the the map barrier.. I doubt I would use this much... I also assume it can't be used in franchise?
Would be awesome if we could use heat maps to make your own terrain stamps as well, so that heat map terraforming isn’t only an option at the parks creation. It would be a smaller scale heat map, but it would make further terrain adjustments easier. Say, if you were working on accurate tunneling or cave-carving.. A custom terrain stamp could be very handy.
Unfortunately when I tried to download anything, the game crashes on me, so this tool probably needs a few tweeks. That being said, thank you for this tutorial. I might have to see how well it works with what kind of maps I want to create.
Im expecting people to upload their maps to the workshop ☺ would be nice to have a seperate tag for that or something tho ☺ so it's easy to find these kinda maps ☺
Ahhhh Rollercoaster tycoon 2 I sure do miss the puke on the walk way cause the 80acers of lawn needed cut 🤣 (didn't know about giving selected job path at time)
No sorry :) im pretty sure there are tons of tutorials out there how to use paint and i think the basics are the same as what I did, but I am not even gonna bother making an actual map myself, it's really not something I would enjoy tbh haha.. I will leave making these kinda maps to others :P
Because terra forming tools are pretty small. It would take tens of hours to get the same result than a 10mn height map's job. Also it opens access to countless real life height maps.

I can't wait to see all the maps people will make! Now people can recreate real life zoos with the actual terrain.
I never knew about this. Thanks
You are so welcome ❤️

And ofcourse welcome here ❤️
Awesome tip using the original Frontier files as the base colours!
Thank you so much for showing us how to do this! I've been wanting to make a Canadian style zoo with the rocky mountains. I've always thought this was impossible to do because making one mountain alone in game is seriously difficult.
I JUST COME HOME FROM SCHOOL THANKS FOR THE TUTORIAL LOVE U CHANNEL

That’s a great idea! If it works, it’d be possible to build zoos with real life height maps. Great for real world zoo recreations, too!
I thought about the same thing, when I heard about using greyscale mats, now!
Really surprised more games don't let you import an actual height map like CS

If nothing else, the fact we don't have to only use flat maps and is a great thing! I wonder if this map modifier works with Krita...
Never heard of Krita, so I honestly dont dare to say 😄
Just checked it with Krita; and yes it does in fact work! Just import a copy of one of the premade PZ maps; and use the eyedropper to get different heights. Also the stamp tools make really interesting land patterns. Check it out!
love height maps use them all the time for Cities Skyline and making my space art with planets and topography maps

Yeah I see what you mean! You are able to use these maps in Franchise, Challenge, and Sandbox Mode btw!
@@DeLadysigner ah cool.. franchise would be where it would be very useful then... 😀
this helps a lot
Glad to hear it did ❤️
I wonder if you can edit current save files with this or if it has to be a new save.

Thank's for this 😁😉👍👍👍
They need to add a height maps category to the workshop.
There is none? That surprises me for sure!

Is there already a kind of Planet Zoo „platform“ to up- and download user maps?
Im expecting people to upload their maps to the workshop ☺ would be nice to have a seperate tag for that or something tho ☺ so it's easy to find these kinda maps ☺
@@DeLadysigner Great, thanks! 👍
These will be fun.
Well it surely is not for me! hahaha! but curious to see what people can do with this ♥
Have you test the hy in meter witch is witch?

Nice!!

You get access to the maps in franchise aswell.
Could you do a video where you try with the free paint tool
No sorry :) im pretty sure there are tons of tutorials out there how to use paint and i think the basics are the same as what I did, but I am not even gonna bother making an actual map myself, it's really not something I would enjoy tbh haha.. I will leave making these kinda maps to others :P
@@DeLadysigner agreed i would love if they did so the second mad right under the flat one randomly generated a mad
Why use paint or photo shop? If you can change things ingame? I don't understand. 🤔
Because terra forming tools are pretty small. It would take tens of hours to get the same result than a 10mn height map's job.
Also it opens access to countless real life height maps.
Will I be adding my own maps. No. Will I be shamelessly download other people's hard work. Yes.
Seems easy enough to create a height map, but i'm not "artistic" enough to make a map from grayscale.
Haha yeah I have the exact same feeling! Not gonna be for me! LOL
Oh why hello
Hello!
