To help the whole Planet Zoo community I think its great to have all zoos available for a zoo tour via Google maps under 1 comment ❤️ So feel free to share the name of a zoo you know has the ability to "walk around" in Google Maps here 😃 Thanks for watching all ❤️
I'm loving this style of videos, the latest one about pieces, and this one. Not just showing how YOU did things, but showing people how to develop their own thing
Thank you for the tips! I often find myself uninspired when I start an enclosure, and then one or two items get me excited to be more creative. I think using things that aren't meant for the obvious purpose can often be really great in creating a unique and interesting environment. For example, I use the waterfall enrichment you find in the habitat selections as a feature in my water ride. It fits perfectly over the boats. I just add rocks to camouflage the frame. You have often helped me with new and exciting ways to create, so thank you!
Looking at your opening shot reminds of something another PZ TH-camr said: Foliage is King. While I have increased the foliage in my habitats (not as dense as yours. I need to improve that), I have NO FOLIAGE throughtout the zoo. Your opening shot shows all that outside-the-habitat foliage. That's my next big change.
This is so great. I was just hoping you would talk about your creative process!!! You read my mind. My favorite part is building the habitats. I like to look at wildlife photos and documentaries. I do not necessarily try to recreate it, but recreate the feeling that I get, imagining being there and how that animal lives. A tapir among dense foliage in the humid jungle, an arctic fox in a rocky tundra with the cold wind blowing, a moose in a luscious pond lined by aspens. Then I make a viewing area for the best immersion into what it feels like to be there. That's what I enjoy when I go to the zoo. In a different stroke of inspiration, the recent addition of bats got me thinking it would be cool to see them in an ancient Egyptian tomb rather than a natural cave. From there it has expanded into a nice theme to hold a few habitats and exhibits without becoming too gimmicky. Anyway, I struggle with the infrastructure, so I found your tips very helpful. I had no idea you could walk through a zoo in Google maps! Denver Zoo allowed it, but it looks like they were doing a lot of construction at the time, haha.
I love these types of videos and I hadn't thought of looking up the zoo master plan. I will definitely be using that in the future. I definitely watch youtube videos to get inspiration, but what really helped me was watching speedbuilds, but using the video speed control to slow them down. It helps me understand how everything came together and the techniques that were used.
When I'm looking for inspiration for making a more natural exhibit, I like to use the Habitats of the World book to get a nice overview of different natural habitats! If I want to make a habitat for a specific animal, I'll match up the habitat map on the Zoopedia with the maps in the book and choose a habitat type from those to base my build off of.
I havent visited a zoo in ages! I did an internship at Artis years and years ago, I should really visit again to see how it changed! I really like the masterplan tip. I tend to need visuals to help me out, so even if it takes time, it looks like something that could really help me! Thanks 🥰
Thank you for the inspiration, I'm going to google zoo master plans today! And I just realized I need to go search in my attic for my notes and reader from a course on habitat design I took while studying 10+ years ago, totally forgot about that! I hope Planet Zoo will add the Azian wild dog, my project group actually developed an idea for a habitat for them, would be fun to recreate it in the game 😆
Ofcourse another great way to get inspiration is from the Community Zoo Tours that we do on the channel 😃❤️😍th-cam.com/play/PLvWnE-5_a-cHPVRXCyasMszumom0ljGYo.html
Totally in LOVE with your videos! I am very new in the gaming univers in general. As I only just recently start using steam. However I have for many years played Second Life Metaverse, and the thing I always gravitated towards in that game, is the building part. I LOVE to make landscapes and unique buildings. So I was thrilled the day I went and looked at Steam and saw Planet Zoo for the first time here in april 2023, and I was so hooked just by the first trailer. I naturally dived right into a sandbox and did not know a thing, and before I knew of it 16 års went by in game, and I had just barely built a habitat, and my streslevel went up, as protesters, inspectors and workers and what not started to nag (made me laughs so much also) But then I found you and others on TH-cam to get inspiration and tips and tricks from - and I am so grateful! LOVE your videos! They are amazing, and your builds are just of the chart!!!
Funnily enough, I found some really easy inspiration from playing the original Zoo Tycoon! Started off with a Tropical animals area and it really helped me generate some ideas for Planet Zoo, I am currently "recreating" the first habitat I made which is Bengal Tigers! I decided to sink the habitat into the ground slightly and i have made an underground viewing gallery where guests can look in on the tigers sleeping in the cave i built underneath the overground viewing path!
Another great video with great ideas. I have been playing this game for about a year and it is taking me so much time to learn techniques and to find my own unique style. I have mainly watched TH-cam videos for ideas. (my 13 year old grandson suggested this... lol) I have over 1100 hrs into this game and nothing to show for it. For me it's so much harder to learn new things the older I get. (I'm almost 60) Thank you for another helpful video with new... to me... ideas.
Super bedankt voor deze video. Weer handige tips gekregen. 😀
Watching this inspired me to use a geographical map for species separation in my zoo (even though I didn't realise how long it will take to finish!) - so thank you for this! Oh - and is it wrong that I keep thinking the brilliant PZ music would be great for my funeral? 🤭😅
If you have something big and specific in mind but struggle with visualizing, free AI image generators like WOMBO, Craiyon and Stable Diffusion are only getting better and better -- seriously, it's ridiculous and maybe a bit creepy. Try prompts like: "A high-ceiling aviary made of stone and bricks, educational signs and rest areas" "A giraffe zoo enclosure with a small lake, a moat and two minarets, North African decor" "A mosaic of an Amur Leopard in winter colors" "A small chic restaurant with a thatched roof, in a forest" Be sure to use specific, descriptive words for best results. If nothing comes up, just re-generate.
What I like to do is to build "Motto Zoos". So I try to build a zoo with a combination of habitat types and animals. Example: Asian Square: Only asian animals, only completely square habitats African safari: Only african animals, all should be visible by boat Rainbow friends: Only animals that can be teamed up in the habitat, every decoration needs to include a rainbow etc. It might sounds restricting, but those restrictions make me creative because then I need to think about how to incorporate that into my zoo.
These are some helpful tips! I always find myself struggling a lot with some of the things you mentioned, it's nice to see I'm not the only one haha Btw, São Paulo Zoo in Brazil is also available on google maps for a tour!
Haha I know.. its taking that extra step to just do something that can sometimes really help to get into the flow 😊 but its not for everyone working out I guess 😅❤️

@@marlin8631 ooh that bridge.. I think thats part of someone trying to finish up areas.. I cant keep up anymore with what is and is not shown in videos yet.. lol.. I mean, there is a huge ferris wheel on the edge as well now and its there for a pretty long while too.. but no idea if this is already "officially" shown or not 😅
Do you know about the "Zoo Tours" channel? There are quite a few videos from different zoos in America. Perhaps there you can find something for inspiration. No, the author did not pay me for advertising. But if he offers, I'll take it.)))

Melbourne Zoo and Toronga Zoo (Sydney) are both on streetview and very useful
I always look on pinterest for some inspiration. Looking for a building style or even complete habitats. Or even just for landscaping.
Great tips! I feel a little burnt out from planet zoo this a perfect video to help me get back to it

If you're wanting to make a small zoo with some contemporary animals then the Nashville zoo is not a bad place to try.
You can walk through the brookfield zoo. It has lots of habitats for insportation!
