I have been doing a low carb diet along with IF and OMAD for 2 years. My colitis disappeared. It is in histological remission. My GI doctor had me write down everything I was doing. My eczema went away, my eye sight improved, all my aches and pains went away. I will soon be 65 yo but feel 20 years younger. I eat a lot of fatty meat-my trigs are 48 and my triglyceride/HDL ratio is .86. My colitis symptoms went away within days so I knew I was on the right track and never looked back. Thank you Dr. Fung!

Thank you Dr Tro for sharing your experience in the doctor’s office at 13. I had a similar experience as well at the same age. My family doctor with my father in the room asked if I was a special diet. I understood “Are you on a seafood diet?” Not understanding as I experienced an allergic reaction to lobster I said no. The family doctor clarified his question with “Are you on a see food diet? You see food you eat it.” Than him & my father proceeded to laugh to my embarrassment. It has definitely marked me for life, even at 54 yo I still remember it like it was yesterday. Thank you Dr Jason Fung for your books. I’m still learning and realizing my addictions to food and working on improving my life. My goal is to be pharmaceutical free for as long as I live.

I can’t stop watching DrFung’s and Co programs! I started 20/4 IF 2 years go, after reading Dr Jason’s book on IF. Unfortunately my metabolic Syndrom needed more drastic adjustment. So thanks to Dr Berry, I went on Ketovore regiment last October24. My weight went down from 180 to 161 within first 2 months. My head fog disappeared, my energy levels jumped during the day, my A1C dropped from 6.8 to 6.2, fasting glucose went from 118 to 87. Also, my dental check up was amazingly great: no pockets or signs of inflammation in gums.
I have 2 autoimmune conditions: Hashimoto’s and Sjogrens. There are many reports of great results with Hashimoto’s, but what about Sjogren’s? Are there any?

Fasting, low carb, and exercise. If you’re a woman, you should only fast the week after your period to avoid messing with your hormones. You can fast up to 3 days with water and a squeeze of lemon without having refeeding issues, but the day after your fast, be careful about overeating or you will mess up the fast. Other than that, eat very low carb and exercise as much as you can in natural ways throughout the day. Watch Dr Berg for a good diet explanation. He has some good explainer videos. The only carbs you should be eating are leafy green and cruciferous veggies. (Any water based veggie, really). Corn, carrots, and potatoes are not veggies - they’re starches. Avoid fruits until you stabilize your blood sugar and then only eat them with protein and fat to avoid an insulin spike. Eat lots of high quality protein (pasture raised eggs, ground beef, fish, steak, shrimp, tuna, salmon, rotisserie chicken) and only good fats (animal fat, bacon, pure cold pressed extra virgin olive oil, real grass fed butter). If you’re hungry before bed, it’s better to have a pat of butter or a handful of walnuts than a carbohydrate. Anything but carbs.

Dr Fung. I have been trying to get some answers and so far no one has responded. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. I am 57 years old, been on keto diet for about 3 months now. Low Carb, Moderate Protein & Fat. Lost 25 lbs, blood sugar came down to normal. Triglyceride down from 7.4 to 1.3, but cholesterol went up both HDL & LDL. What i do not get is that my Blood Pressure is not going down, any clue. I am at 200lb 5 feet 6 inches tall. Don't eat a lot of salt/sodium. it's between 140 to 160 / 81 to 90 most of the time. From Ontario, Canada. My fats are grass fed butter or Organic, Extra virgin olive oil, organic cold press coconut oil, Organic avocado oil, fresh avocado. Don't eat beef or pork. Only chicken, lamb, eggs and whey isolate protein powder 0 sugar. Sardines, salmon tin & fresh. Shrimp, sweet pepper, broccoli, cauliflower. Some salad with regular cheese and i make my own dressing apple cider vinegar, lemon juice & EVOO salt & pepper to taste. would have some sour dough bread 1 slice maybe 2 or 3 times a week toasted with butter & EVOO. Sauerkraut and kimchi. Some lentil roti & occasionally 1 cup basmati rice. Blood pressure still high. Any clue. Supplements D3 10,000 IU with 300 mcg K2 (MK7), Magnesium Bisglycinate 400mg daily, Methylated B Complex, Zinc Picolinate 25mg with Copper 2mg & Hawthorn Berry supplements 540mg 3 x daily. You are doing a lot of the stuff I am doing. I was 218 last year this time. I am at 168lbs today. I am 5'7". You need to drop your weight further. I have heart rhythm issue and my blood pressure was in the 135-85 range. I see 120/75 sometimes 117/80 these days. I cannot tell you why that is but the results are encouraging. I go to the gym almost everyday. Weight training every other day. On off days, I use a rowing machine which was recommended by my cardiologist. Weights for about 30-45 minutes. Rowing machine 25-45 minutes. Regardless of the exercise routing, I always do sauna for 25-35 minutes. So that is almost everyday of sauna. I am on keto diet and battling prostate cancer. I look much younger than my 65 year age and feel like I am in my 40's. I also do a lot of IF. To lower my glucose which refused to drop due to high Cortisol levels. I did a 6 day water only fast and saw glucose numbers in the 60's which I had never seen before.
You can do it. Just establish an exercise routine and stick to it. Your diet seems to be on the right track. Just add some physical activity. Even waking 20-30 minutes a day can make a big difference. For me the biggest impact came from fasting. Dr. Fung saved me from a diabetic. I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes in 2015. I was given meds to deal with it. The meds did not help at all. Fasting has helped me control my glucose levels ever since. I have cut sugar and simple carbs out of my diet for good. Only carbs I get are from veggies. The only fruits I eat are occasional berries. Also look up Dr. William Li.

I personally had to do 36h fasts once a week to make the needle move again. If you test glucose and ketones together you can really get a handle is your body actually in ketosis. I was surprised to find even though I was eating basically no carbs I sometimes wasn't in keto. Like 0.3 on ketones. A 36h fsdt puts me at 1.5-2.5 on ketones and it works for several days post fast so long as I keep carbs down or out. I fast Mondays because it's a 'low' stress day to not eat.

Blood pressure still around 140-150/85-95. Blood sugar dropping, 5.6-7.5mmol. I add more meat and fat with just Avocado. Today I was pushing ketones. Did the urine strip and it shows 4mmol/l (40 mg/dl). I had 4 eggs sunny side up. 1 Turkey burger and 3 slices of turkey bacon. 1 medium Avocado and 1 can of sardine.

You both are right Dr. Jason and Dr. Tro.
Waiting to prove the efficacy of intermittent fasting and low-carbohydrate diets in the next 10 to 15 years to incorporate them into one's lifestyle turns out to be daydreaming.
By that time, who knows what will happen to the unheeding nay-sayers who are reluctant to make lifestyle changes a part of their lives?

I'm really disappointed. I just finished a 7 day fast & got my blood sugar in the 4s & 5s for a few days. I broke my fast today & this morning my blood sugar was back at 7. I ate partial keto today, & added a Tbsp of rice, extrra choy, a bag of nuts & a small keto treat just as a reward for getting thru my 7 days fast. I thought that my blood sugar would at least be blunted a bit more since I literally just finished a 7 day fast.
It just seems like everytime I let go of the reins my blood sugar is going to rocket.
I am confused about what remission is. Is it an A1C in range for a year managing it OR is it a good AIC eating what you want when you were a teenager.
I mean I want a slice of pizza from time to time. My partner polished off a whole pizza & his blood sugar remained stable. Am I ever going to be able to have chicken & rice ever again or a slice of pizza? Or am I stuck with chicken & brocoli for the rest of my life?

You’re supposed to spend half the time of your fast (so in your case, about 3 days), carefully refeeding. Start with bone broth. Then add some fermented veg like kimchi. Then easily digestible proteins like eggs. Then cooked veggies. Then fish or meat. avocados and other more oily foods. Always really small portions to get your digestive juices flowing again. And then finally you can eat normally again. You can’t jump off a fast and start treating yourself. Your body is primed and ready to STORE because you’ve deprived it for 7 days. It takes more discipline to come off a fast properly than to actually do the fast. No treats when you come off a fast. Eat clean.
It’s better not to fast at all than to fast and then treat yourself - you will actually gain more weight that way.

@@mtc-j9i Good advice... except you can treat yourself breaking a fast. Bone broth is a treat! So are homemade fermented vegetables. It's about perspective, I guess.
I do eat what I want. But what I want has changed.

Carbs are whole grain or refined grain? I keep intermittent fasting vegan and loosing weight. No refined carbs!

    • @nataliajimenez1870
      @nataliajimenez1870 หลายเดือนก่อน

High fiber natural carbs are absorbed more slowly than refined carbs, so insulin doesn't spike as much with them. And since you practice intermittent fasting, you are allowing your insulin to go back to baseline before having another bolus of food. Dr Fung developed the fasting method precisely for his elderly patients that were not willing to give up their starchy carbs. You can lower your insulin by having carbs being the last thing you eat in each meal and by doing a strict intermittent fasting protocol. People that are extremely insulin resistant may have to lower even their whole grain carbs, because they are just too sensitive to carbs
