Dr Goldhamer is great! Love how he makes it so easy to understand the connection between our diet, habits, behaviors, and health outcomes.

He's such an awesome guest i wish the bad things with fasting could have been clearer though. I did a 24hs water fast and ended up with gallstones and I've never had any in my life plus I've been on a whole plant based diet since 2015... after that happened I got truly scared and learnt the hard way fasting is not for everyone and i wish somebody warned me about the risks. I'm doing a restricted feeding fast 16:8 and managed to get the results i wanted but only within 6 months of discipline and consistency. Not easy as most say. Thanks for the podcast as always exam roomie forever ❤

Remember reading a few years ago in Japan people who lost a lot of weight got sick, because chemicals present in their fat, were freed up and had entered their blood. Wonder if anyone has faced this kind of problem.

Nice one. Thanks Chuck. Alan lays it down as it is once again! The narrative on whole foods and fasting resonates with the primordial being within. It’s obvious that what he’s saying is correct. Between this guy and T. Colin Campbell it’s sown up. (Not to mention the profound benefits of a animal protein free planet 😂🙏🏽)

I adore Dr. Goldhamer and have been following his center for years.
(That said, I truly wish his TrueNorth recording background and audio quality was upgraded. Minimalist is fine but this background is distractingly dull and the echo is impossible to ignore.)

I still have little clue why the Americans rarely mention naturopathic aids to fasting like purges, enemas, emunctory derivation, so well documented by the French (Marchesseau, Jauvais, Grosjean). Only Richard Anderson for what I read so far, but he's not showing up. Arnold Ehret was forgotten once again.

Thanks for mentioning his name. I had to Google and learned from wikipedua that Herbert McGolfin Shelton (October 6, 1895 - January 1, 1985) was an American naturopath, alternative medicine advocate, author, pacifist, vegan. Unfortunately, many people don't know of him.

Isn't it sad most Americans are not aware of Natural Hygiene, the greatest health discovery!
Shelton influenced Alec Burton, the Australian mentor of Goldhamer,
Joel Fuhrman fasted 46 days under Shelton successfully.

Yes, I wish more people in general understood this. Bigger factors to overweight include hormonal reactions (insulin, cortisol), highly processed foods and cooking oils, lifestyle, and menopause.
Similar to you I’m in menopause. I don’t eat overly much, usually one meal a day with something light in the late morning or early afternoon. I eat an all-natural, organic, plant based diet with fish 1-2x a week. But Ive put on about 50 pounds since having my only child at 41 then entering perimenopause few years later.

Good point! My guess is that it is. However it’s worth remembering that all the sodium we need is already in the whole foods👍🏽

Yes, and has been used traditionally (in small amounts) by the longest lived societies. It is a key component of pickling or fermented foods, again traditional healthy foods. It's merely evaporated sea water, in its purest form - the rest should be discarded. But I understand what Dr Goldhammer is getting at as processed salt used in excess certainly increases the craving factor. Salt (good quality sea salt), needs to be used carefully with a deft hand.

True North i'm sure is a great place- if you're rich you have the option to go there. The rest of us, however, are not that fortunate. It's too bad that in America, we pay more money for health insurance (and other insurances) than any other monthly bill, including shelter (in most cases) yet our health insurance pays ZERO to visit places like True North or for other PREVENTATIVE facilities or programs. I pay more money in INSURANCE than any other expense. Health insurance, homeowners insurance, car insurance, umbrella insurance if I go to the hospital.. And it helps me zero percent. ZERO. I can see why people check out on the insurance scam.

Having chronically low dopamine and norepinephrine due to genetic inherited ADHD, despite being 80/10/10 raw and cooked vegan for 10 years I still ate too much because my ADHD wants medical treated, so stayed obese despite education and a healthy lifestyle, now medicated for my ADHD I don't overeat 80/10/10 raw and cooked vegan foods, now I actually am able to eat for nutrients not for dopamine, so now I also feel fullness, because no food was enough to increase my dopamine to a higher/normal level.
Now I actually can eat when I am hungry and stop when I am full, and at the best times a day according to nutrition and longevity studies, so I have lost 16 kg in 6 months naturally without thinking about it and without losing 3 kg and gaining one and then losing a few kilos and gaining a bit again, that was what happened when trying to lose weigt before and my ADHD would be very bad.
I can only be healthy and stay healthy with my ADHD meds, I have an education as a nutritionist, and a long term high carb whole food vegan lifestyle with regular exercise.
It isn't possible with my ADHD brain, to be healthy without my ADHD meds.
Right now we have gotten a virus from school trying to heal faster with fasting, the type of virus that is going around in school could last 18-30 days, it has improved since yesterday due to fasting I am on day 3 of having symptoms of the virus.
