Yes. More lessons on playing Church❤❤start with Amazing Grace (Traditional hymn) and the one you just beautifully sang... Bless the Lord OH My Soul....
I'm an aux keys player in my church band, so I'm already used to not being the star of the show :-) This lesson was really useful to me, and I'd love to see more lessons about playing in church! Thank you Lisa!
I had to improvise this past Sunday as the preacher kept on talking . . . we never know how long that is going to take lol! So yes, I did exactly that - the same four chords over and over again and it was perfect. The best part about being a church pianist is that the attention is NEVER on me. I am there to SERVE, I am not the spotlight. Jesus is the spotlight.
I am a lead musician in my church's choir!! I am doing work on cricket videos for my channel!! Do appreciate my channel by subscribing it!! I have just started my channel's work!! Please support me!! Your one subscribe button press has great importance for me!! Thank you !! Love you all!!
Oh and just a thought. It's always best to play in the chords of the last song just in case your pastor wants to sing it again. At least you're already there without having to do a key change and it will just flow beautifully. Just adds to the anointing 😁
1. Chords from the last song (transfer with arpeggio if needed) 2. Any Scale : 1456 in any order 3. Right hand: alternating sus chord (sus 2 or 4) and regular chord Left hand: 1456 as you wish Thank you soooo much!
My teacher was a beast at background music during church services. He also played theater organ at a silent movie theater as well which I think added greatly to his technique for background piano at services.
I learnt the keyboard when I was in school when I was 8. But then I got into painting and clay modelling by the time I was 12 and left the keyboard behind. It's been 15 years now since I last played the keyboard. I've literally forgotten everything including the notes in the sheet music. I got myself a new keyboard 2 weeks back and started playing again when my friend introduced me to this channel with the video of how to play Hallelujah. And I've been a fan of Lisa ever since. She's not only a talented pianist, she's one of the best teachers I've ever come across. The way she explains things with such excitement and joy makes me wanna learn more and more. My mom being a math teacher herself, can learn a few things from you perhaps. Thank you Lisa! And God bless!
Having had no lessons for 3 months now (merci, COVID) , I’ve been a been lost and forlorn lately when I sit at the piano. You’ve helped me to thaw out and just start to explore. So grateful to you. Thank you.
*"You are not the star of the show when you are playing background music."* ~ Pianote Well said! As a choir master of our church's youth group and a musician that plays along with the choir, I would have to agree on this one. Sometimes as musicians, we tend to forget the purpose of why we are there. Church is not a place for gigs where you showcase your jaw-dropping skills and talents and sometimes many of the musicians often forgets this. There is time for everything - a time for rock and roll and a time for everything which you have demonstrate here on this video. THANK YOU for reminding this!
I used to play just with my right hand and couldn't figure out how to play with the left hand, thanks to you i now use my left hand with a bit of difficulty but I'm improving, keep it up I injoy your lessons.
When the pastor/preacher starts praying, piano players be like: "So I started playing the piano/keyboard..." and as a church player, I can totally relate! Love this video, and 10000 Reasons is just one of my favourite song. ♥
Thank you! You are the first online piano teacher that I’ve been able to stick with this long and actually love learning with! Love your sweet personality and easy to follow instruction.
I have had to stop my face to face lessons with my piano teacher. Lisa has helped keep things going. I find her mix of styles (site reading, chord charts and improv) very helpful. My site reading is poor!
I've been playing piano in church for years and just kind of learning this stuff as I go. But I just found your page today, and OHMIGOSH this is great!
I'm a Christian and am a keyboard player at church. Gonna use this simple trick at the church. Thank you so much for this knowledge. GODbless you Lisa. "You're not the Star of the show when you are playing background music", thanks for this reminder.
Very useful and practical lesson. Yes, hope to have more lessons on worship songs. So beautiful when played on piano. It is my dream to be able to worship the Lord while playing on piano and singing the song as beautiful as what you hv done in this lesson. Thank you.
I play on our youth praise team and I usually just play the intro or chorus main chords for background but sometimes I don’t know what to do so this helps a lot!
I can't thank you enough for this video. I'm always so nervous about what to play under prayer or communion. I feel so much better having watched this. Thank you!
I often wondered if you were a church goer. You obviously still play in church because that was a fairly recent song you used in the example in the beginning? Bless you Lisa I just love chords. So much you can do with them and so much fun. 🤗
Another great idea is to switch between the 1st and 4th chords of the key with the left hand and improvise whatever melody you want with the right one, while changing the intensity. You can actually spend hours playing that way without getting tired since it will always sound beautiful. There are plenty of songs that use that chord progression and they sound so emotive and relaxing (Obstacles by Syd Matters is the only one i remember right now but it's not christian)
Hi Lisa, I loved this video. It is really helpful. I'm not even playing for 3 months now so there's so many new things to learn, but what I like about what you demonstrated here is that I can use it if I maybe feel stressed of need to decompress or to find different ways to play the chords 😊.
Thank you very muuchhh!!! Really needed these accompaniement videos (that you've been posting more frequently lately) for help on playing piano at church!!
Nice n simple and well explained lesson..its really relaxing playing that sus chord for awhile. Its like having a meditation lesson and a piano lesson at the same time. Thanks Lisa!

"You're not the Star of the show when you are playing background music" (c)
Many musicians do really need to learn this phrase you said )))
Especially drummers who choose to join in during background music.
More worship leaders in general, imho. We are just providing the pathway for the congregation to worship. It's not about us at all.
@@ShoesUndone well, there were at least two guitarists in our church, who needed to be constantly reminded by this truth, hehe )
@@ilive4god2007wait, you have guitarists at church? Forgive me for being surprised I’m European😭😭

↓
Gsus
Probably there is no such thing
Any work. Probably not minors though unless you're last song was in I minor.
I personally love the minor keys but majors are always uplifting
