"I don't know why they don't have a bigger following" SAY IT LOUDER FOR THOSE IN THE BACK!!!!!! for the song, its basically a person in the relationship whose love has gone cold. The person feels more comfortable when they are alone but they also know that the other person in the realtionship still loves them so much. So basically they don't know HOW TO SAY that they just aren't in love anymore.
i wasn’t gonna say this yet (i was gonna wait until i caught up on all your reactions so that i could see if you picked up on it) but your comment about jae’s vocals here brought it back to my attention. jae’s arguably the member who grew the most throughout day6’s career. day6 has always been emotional with their vocals, but early on, jae was on the weaker side, both technically as well as in terms of storytelling. late 2017 to early 2019 is where you see him grow the most (he took vocal lessons almost daily for about a year), and you really feel his story telling flourish with that as well. his eaJ project helped him further develop not only his vocal style but also his producing style, and overall he’s evolved to the point where he’s extremely comfortable with his tone and how to manipulate it. right before they went on hiatus, day6 performed on 88rising’s channel, and if you compare their vocals there to the originals, you’ll for sure feel how much more stable he is. also! i know you already mentioned you’ll check out their solo stuff (jae, wonpil, young k, maybe even dowoon’s drum covers perhaps?) but all of them are so individually talented and have such vocal diversity that you don’t often see in the band dynamic simply because they all have specific roles in the band. wonpil plays a little more with the depth of his tone, whereas we get to hear more of young k’s lower register and softer tones, and jae kinda goes all over the place. it’s interesting for sure, i can’t wait to see your reactions to those soon!
In Mar2017 - I put YT random kpop playlist on as I work on my PC. When this came on, I stopped typing at the drums, wowed at WP voice n click the screen just in time to see YK visuals - n I fell, n nvr got back up again 😂 3 months later I got to know they wr sched to visit a neighboring country fr a showcase & I flew there & even managed to get a Hi5. Since then it was yrly concerts (still at that neighboring country) up til covid 😭 I really miss them & YOU TOO WILL SEE THEM LIVE ONE DAY. YOU JUST HAVE TOO!

Ah yes, one of my fave title tracks! Imo, this song really showcases Jae's powerful voice a lot!
