    Wow I didn't expect it to be print in place. I was wondering how to design gears which would fit with this design of sprocket. Do I need a certain module size or what?

    What settings do I print this in? I see that this is a remix of another project that used 100% infill with rafts but no support? How exactly are these ends printed without a support?

    What kind of oil would you recommend for this project? (Want to make sure I don't use something that's fine for a metal bike chain but terrible for a PLA one, for example.)

      I used vegetable oil. That worked great and have not swollen up yet

    Great job. But what if print it link-by-link ang then assemble it?

    Hi there. Nice video. Hey, is it possible to reduce everything in size by half, or maybe more, and still have the chain function fine? Not looking for huge weightload, maybe 2.5kg. Absolute layman to 3d printing, so sorry if this is a daft question.

      It should be possible to print it smaller, to a limit where the internal gaps get too small and the parts will fuse together. I recommend you to try it out. Happy printing!:)

    Hi, thanks for sharing. Great job!!!
    I have a question, what material have you used for printing?

    • @Lineracing

      Hi Julian. It's printed with PLA

      @@Lineracing great thanks! how strong it is? may it be used in bike? :-)

      @@apristen It holds about 40 kg before it breaks. For a fun experiment, I guess it would work if you thread lightly. but it will definitely break if you put all body weight on the pedal uphill.

    How do I connect them as a whole? Using the lock chain?

    • @Lineracing
      @Lineracing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes with the chain lock

    What is todays limits in this technology? Meaning can it make a working 1/9 scale bicycle chain from plastic or even real metal?
    Given time I am sure technology will be able to do this and even finer detail.
    Can we do it on today's 3d technology?

    • @Lineracing
      @Lineracing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the limitation lies within the printer resolution. It would be awesome to print a chain in a 4K SLA resin printer and see how small it can get:)

      @@Lineracing Thank you very much, if 4K is about as high as we can go affordably from home, then 8K, 16K, 32K will be a future level. This is if it resolution math is similar to our OLD pc speeds.

    how strong is it ?

    • @Lineracing
      @Lineracing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not very strong, I manage to lift about 40 kg before braking. Might be stronger if you scale it up though!

    Is this size 35 chain or size 40 chain

    • @Lineracing
      @Lineracing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Alex Smith the 420 chain has the same pitch as a 40 chain, but is 1.5 mm wider. You might be able to scale it down a bit in z dimention in the slizer to make a tighter fit

    Do you need support?

    • @Lineracing
      @Lineracing  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, support is allready in the design.
