As someone who has watched The Wizard of Oz multiple times a year when my children were little, I feel that the movements and inflections of these actors are so carefully studied and duplicated that they just deserve whatever success they can get. It's amazing to watch it copied so well.
Remember Rick Polito's description of the movie back in 1998 for TCM: “Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first person she meets and then teams up with three strangers to kill again.”

No one caught that in one of the opening scenes of the original movie, someone indeed killed themselves.. I think it was the producer’s son or maybe the janitor or some shit, but it actually happened. They hinted at it in the skit and in reviewing the comments, NO ONE HAS FUCKING NOTICED.. I’m surely not the biggest fan of the movie, but come on!!

Loved this so much! My grandmother's first cousin was one of the Flying Monkeys in The Wizard of Oz, and so I've always been fascinated by the film as a result. It's so cool to see the memory of his work, and the work of the other actors who played Munchkins, remembered in this sketch.

I only came across SNL sketches earlier this year (I'm in the UK) I have loved binge watching many, MANY of these, but mainly older ones ....the recent ones not so much. But this one is back to the early 00's SNL quality, very funny. Love it!

0:05 - I always really like their classic film selection for the Cinema Classics sets. Instead of reusing the same stills over-and-over, they always take time to make new selections. Sure, they have cinematic monoliths like Casablanca and Ben-Hur displayed, but also the likes of Sabrina, An Affair to Remember, and 12 Angry Men, movies that might not be instantly recognizable to the casual viewer who has little knowledge of the golden age. Some set-designer regularly gets to give a shout-out to their faves.
