Yep. Especially in this modern American society: women have access to all sorts of birth control if they decide to "hook up" with the worst men they can find (who are incapable of being fathers). Number one: they can use a morning after pill after a night of wild sex with Pookie or Ray Ray. Number two: abortion is still legal and they don't need to get permission from the baby daddy. Besides that, if being a single mother is too expensive and will put their careers on hold, they can drop the baby off at the nearest fire station with no penalties. Being a single mother isn't forced on any of these women, so their victimhood narrative is invalid and self-imposed.

I don’t often put my personal business online, but I didn’t realize that my wife of 18 years had some of the tendencies that Kevin talks about. The point that he made here about credit for success or failure was one of them.
I didn’t realize how much that messed up my own personal growth when I felt like I was crazy for feeling upset, but media, family and friends all pointed to her being a good wife which meant that I was probably the problem. Now, mind you, I do have issues, but those were mine alone and her issues were OUR problem. Now, nearing our 19th year I’ve spoken to her and held up the mirror to let her see herself and let her know that I don’t plan on leaving, but I also don’t plan on continuing on like I am the root of all of our issues. And that I won’t be taking on all of our failures alone while she tells me that I’m not measuring up. It was a freeing experience.
