  • Hey, do you want to work with me privately? If so, simply send me a message on Instagram at @cameron.fleury with the word ‘private’ so I can find your message easier.
    What's the correct drum throne height? How high should my drum throne be? Do you feel like your throne height is hindering your double bass drumming?
    It probably is, and knowing what to do can be confusing as heck. In this video you’re going to learn how to find the perfect throne height so you can worry less and play more drums.
    Your double bass drumming could be better by just going over the way you sit behind the drums. There’s a lot of confusing information out there, so I want to make it easy for you to understand.
    You need to remember that your legs are an extension of your body, and if your body isn’t properly positioned behind the drums then your limbs will be affected.
    Let’s take a look at what happens if we sit too low or if we sit too high and how to know what height works best for you. We're also going to take a look at how far or close your drum throne should be from your drums.
    So hop in, take notes, and enjoy the video!

    Very informative video!
    My approach to seat height has always been making sure your upper legs are
    slightly beyond parallel going up based off the person's height.
    Nice seeing a great demonstration of seat height and general ergonomics

    Great video, incidentally, for me at least, the higher position is way easier for ankle technique, but at the same height, leaning in ever so slightly( not so you wreck your back, literally a small amount)is a really nice balance point for heel toe. So you can drop the leg for slow tempo, use ankle for high speed and heel toe for super quick. My two cents

I just got my first double pedal .Normally I'm playing single pedal hard rock kinda stuff ,but I wanted to try something different, and boy that doublefoot pedal gave some headache today. I was asking myself the very same things which you so answered right here in this video. As I said thank you so very much because you solved many of my problems which i had with double bass drumming

    I'm tall as 1,94 and the natural drum thrones are not too high for me.So my doubles became sloppy easily and i loose consistency.So the higher you seat you're less tired and you have relaxed and fast doubles easier.

    • @CameronFleury
      @CameronFleury  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's true! You find that it becomes easier because sitting higher causes less strain on your legs?

  • @icenic_wolf
    @icenic_wolf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I've always called this "playing downhill". It's *so* much easier playing downhill than playing "into a wall" or "uphill". But just like in real life, it's no fun trying to go downhill when the hill is too steep.

    • @CameronFleury
      @CameronFleury  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If we can find the balance on our pedals by being in between uphill and downhill, we'll be much more efficient on our pedals. Great analogy btw!

    • @icenic_wolf
      @icenic_wolf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CameronFleury Agreed! Usually I'm trying to convince people to put their seat a little higher, so "play downhill, but not too steep" is usually how I phrase it. 👍

    I may have already commented this before on a different video, but i have the hardest time balancing on my double bass pedals. My speed cap is pretty damn low and when I try/pretend to play 32nd notes, or even 'fast' 16th notes, i notice myself start to lean back. If anyone can help on this, that'd be amazing. And it could be my pedal settings too. To help, I'm 6'2" and have long arms and legs...duh 😆

    I was wondering if anyone can help me with some advice as I'm a new drummer and being extremely tall is creating some difficulty in comfort/ergonomics. I'm 6'6" and i've bought multiple thrones and even when put at their highest, they are about 28" which still makes it so my knees are probably at 85-90 degrees. Also my snare at it's highest possible still basically sits too low and the bottom of my forearms still hit on my thighs. Any extremely tall drummers have any solutions to getting your drums/throne and pedals to work well for you ? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Do your foot pedals come into play when adjusting throne height (mine are a little thicker than normal) but not sure if that matters
    Because at the moment I find it easier to double a single pedal than use double kick (short amateur btw) atm

    • @CameronFleury

    Tell Tomy Aldridhe that his seat height is too low. He started out using a simple milk crate. He sits damn near on the floor he's so low, he's 73, been playing for over 50 years and shows no signs of wear and tear, at least to the point that it affects his ability to kill it night after night. I believe it's all based on personal preference and what works best for the individual.
