    Having a replacement habit really is the most important part of breaking any habit. I used to press my cheeks when I got excited watching tv and it would leave bruises, so I started patting my chest and I’ve never pressed my cheek since.

    I have bite my nails since I can remember😧I have stopped biting my nails some times but I started again.🥺I HATE to show my nails and have always. But like a week ago I decided to stop! I saw some beautiful rings on SHEIN and I really wanted them💕but I didnt want my nails to be that ugly so I just stopped.🙌🏻Find something to make you stop! It have not been hard because I really want to stop. I’m used to bite my nails all the way down, till I cant bite more🤭but yeah, I’m on my way for beautiful nails!💅🏼good luck everyone! I belive in you guys. Think of this, what if u never stop biting? You will never have beautiful nails... BUT if you stop now, then you will have it the rest of your life❤️🙌🏻good luck!

      Ppl say to use insoln. The vitamin b. Or to use bitter tasting nail polish, covering ur fingers in gloves, or bandages, ppl also try hypnosis. U can also coat ur fingers in a mixture of coconut oil and cyanne pepper. Good luck 😊

    Watching these “how to stop nail-biting” videos because of a recent comment of my mom telling me to stop bc it’s gross which I understand is true. I really want to stop for the sake of health. I realize that my main problem is anxiety or impatience that causes me to unconsciously bite my nails 😔 Thanks so so much for this video! Will try some of these methods mentioned.

    Thanks so much for the great tips! I had quit years ago, only to start really chewing on my nails again this year…really bad. Tried the nasty stuff you paint on. Didn’t really keep me from chewing in them. Plus like you said, All my food and everything tasted nasty. Using Silly putty right now for the replacement thing. But really I believe it’s like you said, keeping the nails healthy and conditioned helps. Then as they start to grow, keeping them painted pretty really helps. Thanks again!!

      Hey. Not sure if you’ve been able to break the habit, but try one nail or hand at a time per week. So keep a biting hand and slowly wean yourself off of it one finger at a time. I think the progress of the nail growth, painting etc. made me not want to bite anymore and I replaced my usual behavior with filing. Hope this helps if you need it!

    I am really happy for you and glad you found a method that works for you, however and most unfortunately, it won't work for every one. The reason for that is that nail biting is sometimes merely a bad habit, but in other cases there is a much deeper issue behind this behaviour, which require professional care. Some people will never be able to overcome the urge, and the only way to stop them from biting is nail building. All in all, this is an extremely vast subject which can not be solved that easily.

    I do my own acrylics or hard gel now! It works amazingly!!!!! They aren’t like scary long or anything either lol you can do just builder gel which if you can paint your nails you can do this. If makes your nails to hard to bite. You legit cannot peel it off or anything! This is literally the quickest, easiest, least painful (mentally and physically) way to go.

    Is it possible that you change your nail growth by bitting it? Because I have this habit since always and I am 26. I am afraid that if I leave them grow they will have not so pretty shape. How can I manage that?

    My bffs gave me this idea to reward myself (NOT BY BITING NAILS) if i managed to stop biting for 3 days. They would buy me starbucks or boba or maybe a small cute present like a keychain and they would slowly increase the time i would stop biting my nails and the gifts they buy me dont have to be big or extravagant. To me, just a chocolate bar would suffice and it works for me. Now my target is to not bite my nails for 1 entire month and im 19 days through! :D goodluck to you guys

    I am 45 and have been a nail biter for as long as I can remember. I’ve quit one time in my whole life. For me it’s mental, I have severe anxiety and OCD at least when it comes to my fingers. It drives my husband crazy. I tear off my cuticles as bad as my nails.. I feel like they over grow and it drives me crazy. I have got to stop the vicious circle 😩

    there's a nail polish that you can paint on your nails; it has a taste so incredibly bitter and gross, that it has helped thousands of people stop biting. you apply every 2-3 days. you can also apply your favorite nail polish or nail art as extra motivation. as she stated, it isn't for everyone, but it's definitely an option to look into. I'm actually considering buying a whole nail kit including the bitter nail polish, nail tools, and nail polish, in the hopes of correcting my habits.
    it also helps to buy sensory necklaces, which are great for people like me, that have a habit of chewing. keep it around your neck, and it should remind you to redirect your habit onto a healthier option. I also have gotten gum to redirect this habit. any gum works, but I recommend gum that will help with your teeth as well, because you also damage your teeth when you bite your nails.
    this video explains the effects of nail biting, without the sugar coating. they also discuss a few solutions. I recommend other nail biters to watch this.
    another thing I'd suggest is asking or befriending someone who can help by reminding you to stop biting your nails. sometimes, we just need support. words of encouragement can create great impact.

    I am 13, I have been a nail bitter as long as I can remember, so at least 10 years. I haven't tried it yet, I've gotten way better, I went from a few times a day to nearly a week, I'm begging my mum to get nail polish that is supposed to be gross, it is my last resort and I'm hoping that by time I'm old enough to have fun with my nails, they are long enough to do things with. I will try that new replacement habit. Even if it doesn't work, thanks.
    By the way, can literally anyone give me a notification so if it does work, I'm not scrolling forever, thank you:)

    • @wiktoria63266
      @wiktoria63266 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it is really time consuming, to grow the nail bed (pink part) completely you can need from 9 months to even 3+ years so just dont cut your nails really short and let them grow out

    • @MonaHerSelfM
      @MonaHerSelfM 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Especially with nail biters it's impossible. The saliva contains so many aggressive bacteria, enzymes (to fight off illnesses and break down our food) that biting the nails and breaking the skin in that process harms the skin and nailbed (pinky part) irreversibly.
      It can grow back here and there BUT! it won't last long. Every little touch and impact with the nailbed will push it back where you brought it to.
