The practical effects of the first 2 Predator movies looks so much better than the CGI they used in this movie. It really looked bad 👎I think practical effects look better most of the time
The Thing 1982 vs The Thing 2011 is a perfect comparison of how good practical is compared to how horrible CGI can be. Same thing can be said for the first (and second in some scenes) Jurassic Park vs the modern ones.
@@Wimmig43at339 when i watched the behind-the-scenes of thing 2011 and found about all the beautiful painstakingly done pieces of ART that were cut from the movie for cgi i was pisssssssed! i hate cgi with a passion!

This was one of the worst films I’ve seen in theaters. As someone who doesn’t usually notice things like editing, the problems were impossible to overlook.

It would have been so easy to have Olivia's character be the daughter of the woman that survived in the original predator. That would cover her motivation and drive. She finally gets to validate her mother's story

I think Skullls was just a work in progress name, or at first I think it was used to keep the project underwraps but people figured out pretty fast it was a predator movie anyway.

As kept thinking about it and watched it for the second time, I realised it's as bad as the reviews say it is.

Me and my 2 friends had a discussion for about 20 minutes in the parking lot to try and figure out what we saw…..in the pouring rain.

It's a awesome movie and I really liked the Isabella and Royce characters. 1,2 and Predators are the best and in that order. Prey was decent and a step into the right direction but it only had to beat the Predator. A little to much plot armor but a good movie none the less

@@4Everlast the way I've always viewed it is that just because he is a GOOD director doesn't make him the RIGHT director. His strength has always been buddy-cop style stories with humor. That doesn't work with a Predator film.
@@xVikXtorx Probably, but damn it man, making films is not as enigmatic as people think, if you're good at something you MUST be good at it, if you're a master mason, it doesn't matter what you're working with, you'll do a good job. Same with movies, you just can NOT fuck up as badly as he did. A good filmmaker MUST make at least a good film, nothing less then that.

Alien Covenant and this movie are a spit in the face of the entire Alien and Predator franchises. Both of those films are so abysmal that they make Highlander The Source look like a Martin Scorsese film.

This was honestly one of the worst films I have ever seen. It's like they sat down and said "Ok, how can we KILL the Predator franchise for good?".

Sexual Predator
Although all those things were all in the original script for the movie (apart from the stupid Iron Man suit at the end - that was a last minute addition) the movie was fairly drastically changed and large parts refilmed and new stuff filmed.
The actual script that was green lit sounds even weirder than what we got.
You forgot "autism"
Predator worked because you didn't see him for most of the movie. So the suspense was high not knowing where the danger is coming from. Now that everyone knows what the Predator is it's not suspenseful. And just adding more aliens only makes them less scary. Less is always more when it comes to action adventure movies and scary movies.
Predator 2 is a decent sequel.

@@nathanwaight I think they forget that predator is a horror film. The originals opening action sequence is character development not setting the tone for the film.
I was amazed that my colleague recommended this movie after I had avoided it so I finally relented. The original is in my top ten of all time. This latest iteration is an utter mockery of all that made the first one great. I will take my colleagues recommendations with due caution from now on.
I think that's worthy of a HR complaint.
Unless they're close freinds that understand my taste in film, I never, ever listen to people's recommendations. I worked with one guy that had garbage taste in film, he was one of those 'rotten tomatoes/metacritic tells me what to like' morons, and he would constantly ask me about movies then argue with me when I disagreed. He eventually gave his notice and told the other manager that he couldn't stand working with me. He was a real loser.

I don't think Shane remembers the first movie other than his scenes, "Oh yeah, I remember saying pussy jokes, it was definitely a comedy movie". For me, Predator 1 & 2. That's it. Predators is eh ok, of course better than this garbage.

As a kid who grew up on watching Predator 1 and 2, it just sad to see what happened to the name. Shane Black was one of the last hopes since he personally witnessed why the first was great. This was so horrendous. Predators is probably the best since the first 2.
Predator 2 is a really good sequel.
Big Shane Black fan. This was the first film of his that felt like it could have been written/directed by anyone.
A lot can happen in thirty years, some directors actually get worse and forget what made them successful in the beginning..even Arnold ended his career making awful movies .

Fun fact Shane Black wanted the home media release to include both versions of the film, Predator AM and Predator PM, but the studio declined, not wanting to pay to complete the daylight version's digital effects.

I personally love the Dutch tapes from Predator Hunting Grounds. That script was a hundred times better than what we got and gives us the closure we needed for Dutch. If Arnold loved the script and lended his voice for it then you know It's good and did Dutch justice.
That's probably only good thing that came out of the game.
Black and Dekker's tools were very rusty.
One of the three movies I walked out on. And that wasn't only because I detested the film, I just didn't want to know the ending in order to minimize the damage it has done to the original movie.

The problem with AVP (among other things), is that it's rated PG 13. Which feels so misguided. As if the film studio formerly known as 20 Century Fox didn't have high hopes that the franchises themselves would will over audiences. So they need to tone down everything in hopes that it will win back its earnings.

One minor suggestion... mix the background music a bit quieter overall or be aware of the dynamics of the background music. It at times slightly obfuscates the person who is giving the exposition. At some points it's great, but at some points it's distracting.

This guy had like two hits in the 90s yet somehow became a big name.
I saw this in the theatre and without hesitation left during the “climactic” battle on the ship to relieve myself. ‘Nuff said.
I heard Shane Black was upset because the studio kept suggesting things in the movie. "Producer feedback". So he said fuck it, and added everything they wanted. Even if it didn't make sense. Part of me thinks this because it is a jumbled mess.
Well changing the entire mythology of the Predator with hunting for spinal fluid to upgrade instead of sport is 100% on Black.

I pretty much knew it would be a disaster when I first heard Keegan would have one of the leading roles. I like Keegan, but not in a movie like this, and it ended up exactly as I feared. Not Keegans fault, but the weird casting choice indicated that something was just off with the direction they had in mind.
The protagonist should have been the small predator who was trying to save humanity

The predator didn’t come to help, he opened a portal to escape the alpha. He just happened to end up crash landing on earth.. however I don’t like how he died in the first scene. It was meant to show how threatening the alpha is(as if his size wasn’t threatening enough)

Pretty sad when the Predator from the first movie ever made looks miles better than the shit CGI-fest these movies seem to go with. It will ALWAYS look awkward when a CGI character has to interact with a real person. CGI should be used sparingly to enhance what's already there, not as a blanket.

@@RumblesBettr what was originally filmed was very different to what we got. The original version of the film sounds crazy but I'd love to see a finished version of it (hugely doubtful it'll ever happen).
Who knows if it'd be any better than the mess we actually got though.
In the DC we can see Edward James Olmos saying "how do I reach these keeds" to the predator.
This was an amazing, well worded, fully encompassing review and straight to the point. Loved every second of it, I was excited for this film the Predator fan in me want to love all predator films but yes...this film was a damn mess

I was born in 1980 and predator, the terminator, robocop, total recall, have always been in my top 20 films ever. myself and two mates went the pictures to watch this and all I remember is the film ended and we left and nobody spoke all the way to our cars, we fist bumped goodbye and went home. I have been to my daughters school plays over the years which were better than this shite
I don't get what people have against alien vs predator 1, that movie imitated the games perfectly, and i loved the games. You even had a main xenomorph character(the one with the net marks on his head).
It's better than what came after but that's not exactly a high bar to clear.
Because Alien is a masterpiece and Predator is an amazing 80s action sci-fi film. That’s cool if you are a fan of it based on the games, but it’s a big drop in quality to the original films.
AvP was made to please a wider audience (kids). It feels dumbed down and rated Pg13. The action feels more mindless and Anderson certainly has flaws as a director. Simply not on the same level as the original films.
You've clearly never read the original AvP four-part miniseries from Dark Horse Comics. Read it once, and you'll despise the AvP movies just as much as everyone else who wanted that movie instead of the turd that we got.
I was sooo annoyed when that superpredator showed up. And that crazy super armour ending made me laugh out loud, god that was terrible.

I'm glad I never saw it in theaters. I wouldn't have been able to handle all of the awkward stares I would've gotten from everyone else in the theater after they heard me finally lose my cool and yell, "ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?!" at that scene.

What I wouldn’t give to see the original cut of the film. This and Predator 2’s NC-17 cut are two films that would be a dream to see. There’s just so much they cut and changed in the final product.
The penthouse scene in Predator 2 leaves no doubt in my mind that the NC-17 cut included clear shots of that naked chick's bootyhole

I had no issue with introducing a more advanced Predator BUT COME ON at least write a balanced fight between the original Predator and the new Predator.
FOX really dropped the ball by not having a follow up to Predators.

As a "Big 3" fan who actually likes Alien Covenant, Predators and Terminator Dark Fate, warts and all, I'm still baffled by how wonky this movie turned out. Especially with Black at the helm. I wanted to like it, I really did, but alas.

Ironman 3 is probably my favorite Marvel movie. I doubt you care. But it has more fans than is let on.

Adrian Brody's film was right up there with the original in my opinion. Wish that avenue would be explored again.
Predators was fine but nowhere close to the original. The best parts of Predators are lifted from the original, which did it better.

Tbh the predator is supposed to be a frightening stalker. This movie just tried so hard to be a film. It tried to do too much. And in the end just lost all of the charm of the original concepts.
I love the first Alien Vs. Predator movie. One of the funnest entries.

11:38 Skulls turned into the Predator movie Prey and with a much lower budget it's so much beyond better than the sequels and as good if not better than the original, and i seen the original in the theatre when it opened in 1987
This movie is like a session of D&D Gone awry.
The loonies,some of the humor and the dude shooting his own head off with the shoulder mount Canon were the only part I really liked. Other than that, Predator 1&2 are only films i love from the franchise.

I don't mind the concept of the loonies but the performances needed to be reigned in and more focused. For most of the movie it was like "Look at us! How crazy and wacky we are!"
I could not finish this this movie in one sitting...it was so boring...all the characters were just there... Olivia Munn is a beautiful woman but she is just a terrible actor...and this movie certainly didn't do her any favors...also sucks to see Thomas Jane in such a crappy part.. I really hope they fix this franchise...on another note Predators was actually a pretty good movie...
Arnold should have done another Predator movie instated of wasting his time on going back to The Terminator movies

I can tell reading through these comments and even from the narrator talking about the predators specifically, a lot of people are clueless to the fact that there is an extended universe for predator. After P2 there were a swath of books written that are all separate stories from each other and introduce and explain the differences between predator species or “races” and groups or tribe differences. I can agree the editing and all that were a mess and the movie wasn’t great, but I understand exactly what they were attempting in this movie and it was to introduce new predators and not stick with just the jungle and city hunters, as neither one in this movie were either of those, and bring the expanded universe to film. In the books there was 1 predator human hybrid that wanted to help humans fight back on an equal playing field, hence the predator killer suit, and there was a race called super predators that hunted and harvested the best dna they could find on planets to implement into their own. They had one goal and it was to be the best hunters that ever existed. Not only did the kid have autism but he was an autistic savant with technology which was why the super predator wanted him. The film fell short but I appreciate the attempt and I completely understood the aim of it. Personally I felt like the narrator just fed into confirmation bias and was ignorant to the finer points being aimed at with this film. Again I agree it had to many jokes and the editing was bleh and all that, but there was a point and direction it was attempting but even some of the self proclaimed “predator fans” missed it. 🤷🏻♂️
The movie was pure garbage and the plot points sound like they were written by someone who has an autistic child that they think way too highly of. No amount of extended anything could fix this pile of garbage.
