The AVP movies' negative reception is warranted, but the Predator films are absolutely fine for what they are, with the original being genuinely great.
I dunno, I kinda liked the second AVP movie. It wasn't that bad a movie as everyone thinks. The premise is what the first one should of been about imo. Anyway, there are worse movies than that one

I wanna see a predator movie where Dutch and Harrigan brief a team on the dangers of the predator as old men. Dutch probably left the army after being used in the first movie. Harrigan just wants to kill all the predators.

Although it is considered an action movie, but for me Predator from the 80s is the most scariest movie ever made. I lost my sleep after watching it for the first time in the year 1995.
I just saw the new Predator film today. It was, IMO, the best successor to the franchise. Far better than the Alien Prequels. It was light hearted, funny, not what you expected from a Predator movie. But it also had a lot of fun hints, nods and winks to many of the Predator films you mentioned, including the AVP (Though mostly in prop form not actual story). No spoilers about it. But in one regard I think it does touch, if only lightly, on the civil war with the other Predator hunters. Also claiming that the title "Predator" doesn't really suit what the hunters do in their films.
I feel like Predators kinda missed an opportunity to have multiple factions of the planet’s survivors having something of a battle royale before and during their time being hunted by the Predators. They wanted to go for the idea that the title “Predators” was referring to the fact that all of them were Predators themselves but they never really try to sell that idea since they all just run around and fight like any other character in these movies
It's a lot of fun. More action than horror. Perhaps not as many "hunting" scenes as i'd like, story feels a little chopped up. But it doesn't hold back on the violence, and it's definitely cool.
The mistery of the Predators tribe ended when Hollywood started to show so much informations about them. Thats why the 1987 movie will always be the best one. Even in the 2nd one film we see the alien hunter too much time without his invisible app and....at the end of the film a huge spaceship under the buildings.....takes off....oh come on!!!!
The Predator wastes so much potential, just realized how badass it would be if Royce was with the fugitive predators and brought back to earth instead of a predator iron Man suit
I watch the Predator movies for the enjoyment it brings specific to its genre. Of course I love them all. I’m not gonna act disappointed just because it doesn’t hold up to Titanic or Forrest Gump.

In terms of quality, I feel AvP movies are like Joel Schumacher Batman films, in the same order.

I think an origin story of how Blaine and Mac met up and their subsequent adventures would be epic. There's a bunch of unexplored history there.
AvP isn't canon because of the alien franchise, the xenomorph as we know it didn't exist till around the 2100s i think
