Wow I always wondered what the background vocals sounded like by themselves. I can hear Sonny Bono in there so clearly! I never woulda thought a man's voice was in there, much less his!.
@haroldbailey9011 He's not the one singing he lower baritone/bass part. His voice is quite distinct in this mix if you listen closely. He's singing tenor.
Enjoyed this. Definitely Darlene Love on lead backup with others on same part, maybe Cher. Could be Sonny on the lower part. Can you imagine recording the background vocals first, maybe not knowing the lead part at all? Then singing the lead last to fill it all in. Honestly, it would be a great way to record for the lead, but maybe a little confusing for the backup singers. Anyway, thanks to Phil for his skill
Before the laugh, you can hear Cher saying the wrong lyrics, she says “beeee my baby” while everyone else was saying “my one and only baby”. I’d like to imagine that’s probably what they were laughing at😂
Wow, I love returning to this video. I feel like I can hear Ronnie quite strongly at some points. Cher maybe... and is that Sonny? And surely that's Estelle there too?
The night we met I knew I needed you so And if I had the chance I'd never let you go So won't you say you love me I'll make you so proud of me We'll make 'em turn their heads every place we go So won't you, please (Be my, be my baby) Be my little baby (My one and only baby) Say you'll be my darlin' (Be my, be my baby) Be my baby now Wha-oh-oh-oh I'll make you happy, baby, just wait and see For every kiss you give me, I'll give you three Oh, since the day I saw you I have been waiting for you You know I will adore you 'til eternity So won't you, please (Be my, be my baby) Be my little baby (My one and only baby) Say you'll be my darlin' (Be my, be my baby) Be my baby now Wha-oh-oh-oh-oh So come on and please (Be my, be my baby) Be my little baby (My one and only baby) Say you'll be my darlin' (Be my, be my baby) Be my baby now Wha-oh-oh-oh (Be my, be my baby) Be my little baby (My one and only baby) Oh (Be my, be my baby) Oh Wha-oh-oh-oh-oh (Be my, be my baby) Oh (My one and only baby) Oh (Be my, be my baby) Be my baby now Wha-oh-oh-oh
I can hear music..wait, I meant Sonny Bono and Ronnie, the lead singer. Yeah, mixed way down it's magic. It's quite rough though. Compare it to the Beach Boys sessions where Brian snaps his fingers and all his band fall into perfectly stacked harmonies.
@@Broadwayriah no read shares autobiography it clearly states who it was also look at on TH-cam girl groups the story of the South Ronnie Spector clearly stated in the documentary it was Cher Sonny Bono darling love and the other to run Nets but you can clearly hear Cher's voice

ferstday male voices blend in
Cher had a lower range than Sonny.
Male vocals are closer to the frequency of instruments. Also Sonny has a very feminine voice
Really love that « crescendo » starting at 1:13 with those marvellous vocals✨😍
Fantastic,,,, the making of greatness. Its like hearing a newborn baby..
Amazing back vocals in the 60's!
Brings a tear to my eye this is a big part of the soul to the song 🥲
This is where the magic is.
I always say that about bvs! The texture it gives makes it next level.
Engineer Larry Levine has said that Cher so overpowered everyone else that they kept having to back her away from the mic.
And that’s Sonny doing the bass vocal in the track.

@richieluckenbill1590 I agree, I'm pretty sure that's Cher doing the lowest part

Sounds like Ronnie might've been on backing vocals also
Definitely
I love these "peeks behind the curtain" that show you how they did it. Thanks for posting!
Rest easy, Ronnie
Divine harmonies!
Haha, funny. I mean, C'mon...but the record still works anyway.
1:33 you can hear a slight laugh. C:

Estelle didn't sing on this track. Ronnie was the only Ronette to appear on this song
This constitutes the magic of the song✨
Fantastic vocals!🌟
The low vocals very strong
That's Cher
