Hawkman Actually, it's not true. This was recorded in 1976. I don't know how about drinking, but Freddie didn't didn't start smoking until 1980. Plus, he was, like, 30 at the time of the record, so even if he was a heavy drinker (which I'm pretty sure he was NOT), I'd take an enormous amount of abusing alcohol to damage the voice at that age, thus making it pretty impossible. He did, however, develop voice nodules, which gave him a hard time singing live, but that didn't start to show up until 1977/78.

This is haunting. You can hear the passion and power in Freddies voice. You can feel the emotion and soul he puts into his voice and it gives me chills. Freddie was truly a gift to the world and to music, and the world may never see such talent and passion ever again; at least for a very long time. God save the Queen!
For most of queen's choral arrangements, the low parts are Brian May and the high parts are Roger Taylor. Freddie still kicks ass in the midrange though.
Most choral arrangements in queen's songs are just Freddie. The intro to Bohemian Rhapsody is entirely sung by him, even though the video shows the whole band singing, it's Freddy on multiple vocal tracks.
He also hated being called Farrokh, which is hilarious considering the amount of armchair historians who like to tell us his name like it's something meaningful.
Neil Mcintosh She meant that because he wrote the song and saying that it’s his favourite, as opposed to all the other queen songs written with the band
I sometimes imagine him alive as a much older Freddie Mercury singing this under a spotlight. Greying hair, wrinkles maybe even a cane to add that exaggerated age. His tired body but his still iconic voice echoing across a large stage alongside the rest of Queen
Is it just me who feels that this is incredibly... intimate? Candid? Like, you're listening to him giving his best at a practice you're not meant to be at. Imagine that you're this sound technician setting things up and hear Freddy belting away in the booth when you jack your headphones into the system. I think I would have just stopped and waited until he finished.

contraire to what a lot of people think, auto tune is not used to fix the voice; it's actually used to erase some of the noises that can be found sometimes in the audio (white noise) and irregularities in the music. so yes, freddie, as many other artists, used autotune.
there were no autotune-alike tools 'til the late 90-2000s autotune is a tool to make pitch correction and making vocal effects but I (as a producer) don't recommend using autotune to make pitch corrections, the best tool is melodyne
This is absolutely beautiful. You can tell who the real musical artists are when you hear these stripped away tracks. Freddie's tracks, the Beatles tracks... the songs you know and love become something magical hearing the pure power of the voices without the instruments and backing vocals. I get goosebumps hearing the power and emotions of Freddie's voice. There will never be another one like him, ever.
I am a big fan of Queen's music and Freddie Mercury, don't get me wrong...But all those people telling US that there's never gonna be anyone like him is pissing me off...of course, in terms of personality/character every person is a unique one, but in terms talent I don't think you can say such things. I think there are a lots of talented singers out there, there just not as much in the spotlight as they used to be in Freddie's time.
Jip Boersma Yeah, there is, but those people will never "make it", because music today isn't about being "talented". It's about "marketability". suck on that, auto tune. thank you so much for sharing that - can't believe I could love that song even MORE
you barely ever see heavy auto tune anymore. calm down grandma
Jourmand1r Autotune doesn't always mean that T Pain sound. Tons of songs use digital pitch correction these days
People have been using autotune for way longer than you'd like to believe. T pain bought it to everyones attention because he used it balls to the wall 'this is a sound in itself', but seriously man you'd be surprised how invisible it can be made by a skilled hand.
Nobody is shitting on anything, stop being a little bitch.
I mean, a large part of this song's whole thing was achieved entirely through studio tricks and very carefully applied production skills, but okay
Fucking epic. The fact that this happened during a time when we can have it recorded forever unlike Bethoven for example is pretty awesome.
**passes out**
This voice makes me feel something I’ve never felt. It’s like I’m floating above everything and I know everything will be alright. Kinda Like hope/true love.
When Freddie’s home alone
😂
Love you Freddie💖
Such a pure legend.
Freddie Mercury is one of the greatest singers of all time hands down. He's a Rock 'N' Roll singer with an Opera like voice, his voice is just beautiful. Much love to Freddie, he was misunderstood in his days but everybody came to love him because no matter what, he was a good person and he loved his fans and his friends and family, he pushed himself to do shows and appearances even when he had aids and was slowly passing away because he loved his fans. R.I.P. Freddie, we love you.
The performance is so grand and full of passion, that we feel that only Freddie can perform it...
Tears down my cheeks every time I listen. What a gift this guy was to us all. Rest in Peace darling Freddie. We still love you.
I get the chills listening to this pure amazingness. I miss Freddie every day. Truly the master.
aaand now I'm bawling like a little girl
It’s funny how in this you can hear him take these huge breaths to pre pare for what’s to come 😂
Freddie's range is just out of this world ❣️
This is one of my absolute favorite Queen songs, and hearing the isolated vocals just proves the unequivocal talent Freddie Mercury possessed in spades!
OH MY GOD. I need to go collect myself after hearing that.
The greatest voice in rock history.. Bon Scott was amazing as well
Justin Beiber has a better voice tho

Krusty Kra-Ea-ya-Ee-yab Pizza! ...Is the Pizza ,yeah, for you and... ME-HEE-HEE-YEE-HEEEEEEE!!!😂
This was one of Freddie’s favorite songs, ode to Aretha Franklin, one of Freddie’s favorite singers. Brian May said if Freddie could have been Aretha, he would have. Another one of Freddie’s favorite songs is Dragon Attack, another great disco inspired song over-shadowed by Another One Bites The Dust, on the same album. The live video of Freddie singing Dragon Attack really shows him getting into the beat, only wearing tight pants and nothing else. He definitely had the moves. Luv u Freddie!
WHAT A VOICE
lately I'm searching for acoustic and piano version of a rock record from the band with a great vocals because sometimes i want to hear the vocals with a minimum distraction as possible. and then i found isolated tracks on you tube...... omg its like hearing those great vocals stands in front of you and sings...... how amazing is that??
Im listening to this on the day he would have turned 76 years old. Love u, Freddie. Wherever u are, happy birthday.
His singing is purely magical.
This is amazing. I love the rasp in his voice. It’s absolutely phenomenal. I’ve been trying to access my false vocal cords and it is NOT easy.
oh what the world lost.
