I wish I had an answer for you. I didn’t notice any big changes. It could be that I just had some kind of defect with my zenith, but I’ll never know. I’m just happy my century is running them
@@bluegunner4719 MKE guns weather CENTURY import or ZENITH are made on original licensed HK tooling from the 1970's. MP5 variants were designed to shoot NATO ball 124 grain 9mm (M882). Remember in military applications which is what the MP5 was designed for originally it is against Article IV, Section 3 of the 1899 Hague Convention which prohibits hollow points in times of war funny enough... so this gun was made again for standard NATO spec 124 grain ball ammo. You will get best results using this ammo. I use a lot of 115 grain and have seen no issues. However in my MKE Zenith I can run into issues using blunt nose subsonic ammo or certain types of HP.
Thanks! Funny you should ask. I’m at around 2k rounds total at the moment. I went to shoot some hollow points through her recently. Unfortunately, it choked a lot more than before. To be fair, it was very dirty this time around. I’ll have to try again when it’s freshly cleaned.
They sell them with castle sights because of it being a "pistol" the diopter sights are rifle sights. So, to get them imported they have to sell them that way.
I got one of these after waiting on a list forever for a sp5k-pdw to show up at my LGS. Waiting more than a year and seeing msrp on the HK go up twice and seeing the ap5p price go down and fairly good user reviews I took the leap. Luckily from a functional standpoint my ap5p runs like a champ so far. The only disappointment I have is I can't get the optic rail provided with the gun on it. I don't know if I should try filing the optic mount feet or what, but it's really disappointing getting everything on the gun only to be stopped short of putting an optic on it. Well, I’ve never shot an AP5, but I’d imagine it’s similar to my SP5 in recoil. If that’s the case, I’ve got to say the larger AP5 would probably have less felt recoil. Bigger guns will usually do better that way. But it’s not by much. These roller delay guns are incredibly smooth shooting

Were the Winchester rounds flat nose or round? I’ve had issues with my mp5 clones and flat nose rounds before. Most 115 grain ammo I shoot has run fine through my AP5-P tho. I’d say experiment with some other 115 grain ammo brands and see what happens. But 124’s are good to go as well

From what I see looking at the Atlantic Firearms website the ‘Core’ versions of the MKE made guns come with one magazine and a manual in a card board box as you’ve mentioned and the ‘Full’ versions come in a plastic carrying case with an HK style hook sling, two mags, a clamp on picatinny rail, a flash hider that fits the trilug mount on the barrel, cleaning kit and a manual. I bought all three of my AP5s before the Core models were introduced and other than the picatinny mount I wish I could have bought the core model and saved some money. I already had 30 factory HK mags when I bought the guns so it would have been nice to save money not buying items I didn’t need. I would buy a core model and buy a rail adapter from HK parts.
I have gotten rid of both my AP5 and my AP5-P since I left my comment. I originally wanted just the AP5-M but because all I could get at the time was the AP5 I bought that and when the AP5-P models started appearing on the market I got one of those also, but after I was finally able to buy the AP5-M I decided to sell the other two not because they were bad guns but because the M model was all I really wanted. With all the crazy talk of gun bans and the like I figured I’d better buy what I could get at the time, but now I’m happy with the AP5-M.
@@pauliedweasel I always wanted the P model, with a folding brace and maybe an optic. They're out of stock of the P at Atlantic at the moment, and I don't see a bundle with the P and a brace... just with the regular AP5 and brace.
They will refer to all 3 versions as pistols which is confusing and I have to watch myself to make sure I don't get bamboozled.
The iron sights seem pretty good.. is it worth it to put on the rail and a red dot?
Also considering a Swedish K or an AK style magazine fed shotgun. The -P appeals to me as more portable and backpackable if I had to hoof around with it through the woods.
If you remember them, I wanted one of those .22 GSG-5PK when they first came out... but some parts of them were pot metal.. and I was like.. ehhhh.. I'll wait.
I just got mine, I shot 50rds 124g federal fmj w/no failures but as soon as I switched to 115g winchester fmj, I started getting stovepipes and FTE and even a double feed. I put 150 rnds total. Do I need to keep breaking it in with the 124g or do you think there's a problem with the extractor?
Were the Winchester rounds flat nose or round? I’ve had issues with my mp5 clones and flat nose rounds before. Most 115 grain ammo I shoot has run fine through my AP5-P tho. I’d say experiment with some other 115 grain ammo brands and see what happens. But 124’s are good to go as well
@@bluegunner4719 Unfortunately for me, they were round nose but I will try maybe better quality 9mm instead of the winchester value pack. Maybe it needs more breaking in... I'll field strip and relube tonight and tomorrow I will maybe break in with another 124g 50pack and then use several varieties and note the ones that work...thx for the fast reply!
What number locking piece do the AP5 come with ?
100 degree
I called century arms recently and they said the AP5p came with the 120 degree. The AP5 full size may be different however. They were very helpful if you want to call them yourself
Are these sear ready like the ptr’s?
Unfortunately no, these come with a receiver block. Probably due to import laws
$1100 and some change today (7/2022)
Funny that you're an H&K fan boy, but you're talking about the MKE for home defense. So, the takeaway should be that it's hell of a nice piece.
It's funny because Magpul customer support told me their safety lever won't work on the Century Arms AP5s.
I just purchased century arms AP5P (mke) and took it to the range right out of the case , only cleaned the barrel. I ran a 50 round box of Fiocchi 9mm/115gn with no issues. Started my second box and started having hang ups. Some from spent round not ejecting all the way and one not feeding properly. I stopped shooting, thinking something might be damaged. Took it home and broke it down, cleaned everything and nothing seemed damaged. Function checked good. Any ideas what might be going on?
Sometimes these things come with heavy grease on the internals. I cleaned mine and re oiled it and no issues
So can the AP5-P be legally converted to a full auto pdw 9mm ??
Also can this weapon also be converted to a 3 round bust and fully auto too 😳 🤔 ????
Yasal olarak bilmiyorum. Century arms a başvurursanız yardımcı olurlar.siz tam otomatiğe çeviremezsiniz maalesef.
Did yours come with the optic claw mount?
Yes it did!
My HK SP5K is also a nice MP5K CLONE of the original HK MP5K. It would be nice if my SP5K was imported with the 3rd Push Pin like the AP5.
Ya know
VT is actually Virgintia
I said it better be at the same time he did lol
Its a laser beam lol it's great
You can afford these type weapons Why are you messing with silly braces ? And you need to swap out your rear sight drum for the correct diopter type
Poor thing. Getting slapped around by the one who is supposed to be taking care of it…..
Hk goes over the top.....literally the same molded part with a little border. Is the hk thousands worth better? Nah.
Great gun, but Century Arms is still a bottom shelf company.
We all want one.. but we can't afford 9mm anymore.
During the Trump years it was $150/1000..
Steel cased..to your door.
Ah the good ole days
