    Good that the respect for Nature. There was less of that when nine boats trawled two ten ft frames each, they would cover a considerable area, over fished. I trawled with one ten ft frame. And in 1985 it was a part time living for me for a couple of years, I made about 18 quid a tide, which was a good contribution to my living expenses, and I would go about four tide a week, whilst running a studio pottery and paint pictures, some gardening and develop my career as a pianist, it was a full life.

    This was a fun video. Even on the coast of British Columbia we get Pipefish in the Eel Grass beds. They are very green to fit in with the eel Grass. Always fun finding them.

    To get the angle of the mainline correct, we would count on six feet, a fathom for every foot of water you are in.....so, six feet of water - 36 ft of rope. This then ensures the angle of the bottom frame is efficiently scrapping the seabed.

    Nice video. I only found out you can catch enough of these to make them worth fishing for.
    I'm going to give it a go as soon as I'm back out on the boat.
    What size is the mesh on the net and where do you get it from?
    Cheers. Nikki

    I love prawns and brown shrimps. Prawns are easy to peel, but brown shrimps, being so much smaller, are quite a challenge. They are also very expensive. I get them occasionally from the weekly fish van in Holbeach, Lincolnshire. The chap also sells them ready peeled, but these are even more expensive.
    Your video was very interesting, but it looks very labour intensive, unless one is doing it as a hobby. The only thing missing was boiling the catch and trying one or two. Okay, right now I'm getting a taste for some prawns, so I'm going fishing in my freezer for a bag of shell-on prawns from Tesco. I hate the water, so you wouldn't catch me out on a boat unless it's at least the size of a cross-channel ferry. Take care!

    Can we push net anytime of the year and do you need a license??

    • @fishingandherping7681
      @fishingandherping7681  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any time of the year is fine, you'll pick up shrimps all year round but the bycatch will change which can be interesting. As for the license none is required around here however if you're quite far away things may be different so you might have to do a bit of research.

      No permit required as far as I know but not sure about morcambe so may be worth getting in touch with ifca on that one

    You didn't catch enough to make a sandwich, guess you'll starve for today.
