This reminds me of another elephant that was in chains for 50 years at a shopping mall and when the animal was finally freed he began to shed tears. Bless the people who do this wonderful work freeing these creatures. ❤ 🐘

@@RealFredbear I know this harsh reality can be uncomfortable to think about but when we look at it from the animals' perspective, wouldn't it be preferable to take action by boycotting those industries than to pretend they don't exist? Does anything seem particularly challenging about moving to a plant based diet?
@@ObamaoZedong Those are good points, but we gotta get out protein and other nutrients from meat, because meat has special nutritional value in them that plants do not possess, but I get where you’re going.
@@RealFredbear I hear this concern a lot and fortunately we can get every nutrient we need, including protein, from plants! When I became certified in nutrition at Cornell, I found that all the major health and nutrition organizations across the planet state that we can be perfectly healthy on plant based diets and after 9 years without eating animal products I'm living proof! Would you be willing to look into it with the assistance of a registered dietitian for free?

As sad as it is with the chains... a 30ft chain for an elephant is the equivalent of you wearing a necklace. 30 ft of chain doesn't weigh 100s of pounds. A 1/2 chain weighs about 3lb per foot so 90lb total and that elephant isn't going to feel 90lb. It's sad for many other reasons including constantly rubbing on it's skin but...the weight is irrelevant.
@@alien4053 Forcing anyone to wear any chain of any weight, even 1 lb, without their consent is an injustice. Can we agree that lack of respect for bodily autonomy is the root of oppressive systems?
@@ObamaoZedong I don't disagree with any of that. I'm simply saying that the weight of a typical chain for an elephant is inconsequential. The OP's comment implies the elephant's ordeal is specifically because of the "heavy chains". This isn't the case. There are many reasons for the elephant's ordeal but the weight of the chain, specifically, isn't one of them.

Breaks my heart that she had to live for SO many years (almost my whole life!!) in chains and probably abuse, little food and probably no freedom to just LIVE. @@ObamaoZedong It is rather hypocritical of people to say they care about animals and are against cruelty while also paying for them to be tortured and slaughtered in factory farms… I’ve been vegan for 5+ years - it’s cheap, easy, and very healthy and sustainable - there’s no excuse to not be vegan unless someone has a health problem that would be made worse by a completely plant-based diet and their doctor specifically tells them not to.

@@mehere8038 parrots, squirrels & iguanas. Mom have few flowers and fruit tree on the patio, they come and eats them all hahaha. She gets a bit annoyed she can't grow anything, but I enjoy myself seeing and hearing them all doing there business in the back yard

🥺😁 I did not know that elephants flap their ears like dogs wag their tails when they are happy. Seeing the rescue group doing it was amazing! Also, the fact that this man got up to go rescue an elephant almost immediately after he found out about the issue shows his quality as a person. Very inspiring story and video!
That is not accurate. Elephants flap their ears to stay cool. It also keeps insects away. Seriously this man is making a difference for animals. I don't think he has any schooling in this area though.
Every time I get down and discouraged with people being so cruel to animals, I remember that there are wayyy more wonderful people that are loving and respectful to these gentle souls. Thank you for rescuing this beautiful animal 🙏🏻. You just changed her whole life 🥲💓

This elephant affected me more then most that I have came across is captivity. 50 years, Did she have a little one? Was it taken from her. Can it be reunited with her? So many many questions. Her eyes tell her story. She is so thin. And for her to finally have the freedom from those chains. To walk where she wants, eat good food.

Wonderful story. I had the privilege of visiting MandaLao Sanctuary when I was in Laos (pre-pandemic travels)... it was inspiring to see the work that's being done to rescue elephants from slavery, give them a home, and educate generations of visitors. Happy birthday - may you have many more!

I would like to think and pray that it would change the ways of a lot of people. That these are wild animals that God put on this Earth for a reason and not to be put in captivity and not to be killed but them to enjoy the rest of their life that they have in a safe place. I feel a huge sense of relief sleeping in my house bed after camping in a tent for only 8 days. This elephant certainly had the greatest feeling to ever exist!
