    Nice little work bench. Thanks for showing me my first project! looks easy enough to make, and best of all, no router as I don't have one. With this, I can start making all my other home projects I needed. Thanks for this posting.

    My tip for getting even gaps when you're spacing slats: place another slat or small piece of wood in between the slats while you're screwing them in, then move and repeat. More reliable than measuring!
    Thanks for the great video 😌 these pallet videos are very inspiring. Any tips for tidying up your pallet timber when it's damaged or warped? I've collected lots of pallets lately but they're all different widths and thicknesses which makes building with them extra tricky!

    Hello. I'm from the Philippines. I came across your video in June 2020. Something clicked inside my head while watching it. I now have a pallet wood workbench with a tool wall. It was my first time ever to hold and use power tools. Wish I can upload a picture and show you my workbench. I'm a complete novice but I am pretty pleased with it. Can't thank you enough for this video.

    I already got the same skeletal framework with those skids as legs so they very strong, were you marked ends I cut halfway thru then glue an screw them square as I could
    Have a 2x3 bit of kitchen worktop I used, with this glued then screwed at rough 45 degree into underside inside an out added metal brackets to help secure all together just finishing off now

I am building one with a tall back as a room type divider with shelves and the back can be used to hang pics, a shelf or all kinds of other things could be hung on the back. I am sure it would take a couple of videos to do all the desks.

    Way way under-built unless it's just going to be a potting bench or similar. Going to need a lot more intermediate support under the top - like every 150mm if you intend to actually chisel/pound on it -- plus diagonal support in all directions to stiffen the frame -and I would also double the legs.

  • @jkukurugya

    My biggest problem is getting the darn pallets apart. I wouldn't end up with such nice pieces after I was done.

    • @eklektek5032
      @eklektek5032 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jerome Kukurugya one end off instead of pulling out the nails, then just wiggle them out. Sure they might not be the complete length but you don't have to deal with the hassle.

    • @shevm5396
      @shevm5396 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jerome Kukurugya, I've just got some freebie's to start recycling and use for different garden projects and as a beginner wasn't sure how to do it myself. What EklekTek has said is good, I was initially doing the same but I have disabilities and had to re-think. I came straight on here for other 'how to' type video's and came across a super helpful one. Here's the link for it: th-cam.com/video/vUtR9ZzmNgw/w-d-xo.html. If you find it as helpful as I did, the guy has a website with really helpful stuff too - diyforknuckleheads.com/ . Hope this helps :)

    • @Jimlbonner
      @Jimlbonner 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well Jerome, it’s normally not that easy, if you look his “pallet wood” doesn’t even have nail holes. And like Eklek said cut the two ends off cause they are going to split any way, And you can usually pry the middle off and if you have a lot of trouble try using a cut off wheel in a Dremel tool and cut the nails off.

    • @cassierhoads5671
      @cassierhoads5671 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was using a crowbar and mallet, but for the larger pieces my neighbor told me to use a reciprocating saw. Because they had three nails and were nearly impossible to take apart without breaking. It works great. Took a whole pallet apart in maybe 5 min. It wasn’t a small pallet. These prices with 5.5 in wide and 4 ft long and there were 4-5 pieces per side. All the wood looks great and you can use a nail to get the nails out of the wood.

      @@Jimlbonner maybe just a little hard on the guy but after 19 years in the pallet business I would say that most pallet wood isn't ready to build with unless you prep it first. Rough cut wood is often uneven and building something straight and square with it can be a challenge that will lead to disappointment for most beginners. An item like this isn't hard to make with palletwood and it doesn't have to be perfect. Good thing cause it won't be. Notice someone suggested he sell "plans". No plans needed for something this simple. Just the material, a few tools and a functional mind. Anybody should have a square handy as they build and I'd use construction adhesive like liquid nails, not wood glue.

    I've just made a Work bench out of a single bed frame ...and strengthened it up with pallet wood.+ a bit of 3"x 2"..It's in the attic So it's gonna be there for ever!! (everything get's dumped in MY attic (wife) and I needed a bench) so stripped off the padding revealing a 6ft x 3ft (old school no MMs in my brain), perfect size. Now all I gotta do is a lot of trips to the Corpy Dump, to give me space for MY JUNK heh heh.
    Great vid Craig

    That was a very cool video. Easy to follow, logical. If you took 2 of these benches placed side by side you now have a 4 ft x 8ft long, 35" inches high very usable work bench. Add 2 heavy duty caster wheels to make bench mobile. Plus, great example of how to use JUST the pallet wood as souce to build complete pallet. The add on back shelf by inserting half of other pallet....brilliant.

    Hi Craig buddy, i have nearly a dozen pallets mostly with blocks at corners rather than 2x4 skids. i have also cut some down by about half so they only have the two skids or sets of blocks with other plank slats i have cut to size and then glue and screwed these into L shapes for the legs. will they be weak if i add them to the pallet exterior or should i switch some blocks for skids and bolt these together. think i just answered my own question on how too.
